      definitely agree, while I would say chinese food is my fav, having grown up on the fare from my local takeaway (to the point I compare others to them and they even what people would call a "cheap" takeaway lol, I just love the way that family has always made the food) but I know its a very different thing to actual chinese food and would be awesome to see the comparisons

    I lived in Singapore when my father was in the army.
    Our armah taught me this as a 14 year old and how to cook rice perfect everytime.
    Still do it to this day 54 years later❤

      There isn't one on the internet, its like centries old and everything now is the westernised version

    Thank you for taking the time to plan and producing this video. It is fascinating to see the changes made by modern takeaways. Being in my sixties I have seen and experienced many changes over the years. But it is great to get an inside view of those changes.

    Would deffo love to see the traditional style done too. For me if I'm back in the UK, it's got to be a king prawn Cantonese sweet & sour from the local Chinese chippy.
    Bringing back lots of happy memories of eating my first proper meal in a Chinese restaurant as a kid, after years of having a sausage dinner instead!

      Out of interest is Cantonese style sweet and sour battered or non battered to you, as I’ve seen it both ways

      @@ZiangsFoodWorkshop From my mum's local chippy it's battered like I remember it from the 1970s. So if it sits in the container for a bit, the batter next to the meat is nicely soggy, with the outside still fairly crispy.

    I remember having a cooking lesson in Hoi ann Vietnam with my brother & the teacher showed us a sweet & sour chicken with rice wine vinegar,pineapple,tomatoes,onions. Was very nice

    I made this a few days before you published this video basically using your excellent Shredded beef recipe as a guide and adding a double fry. Turned out great, and I'm reassured to see this video is pretty much exactly what I did.

      @@ZiangsFoodWorkshop exactly. And each one has a different taste profile so not the same flavour just done differently. Like Curries have different flavours depending on region and ingredients put in it. They may have a similar dish but different flavours. That's what I love about cooking your always learning new recipes and experiences.

    I make my own salt and pepper chicken the other day I did coriander chicken love my Chinese food working away I found an evening job for a local Chinese restaurant still friends with the owner he taught me loads rather than sitting in evey night after work

    I’m lucky enough to have travelled china many times for work from Hong Kong, shenzhen, Guangzhou, Xiamen, Wenzhou,Yueqing, Hangzhou, ningbo, etc etc even Macao and Taiwan and I’ve never tasted food like it in UK, always fresh seafood like no where else I’ve been, and always so delicately cooked would absolutely love to see some traditional recipes

    God damn, I used to watch you years ago and just had your vid pop up in recommended. As an Englishman living in Hunan Province China your recipes used to help me get that 'proper' Chinese tastes over here XD So pleased your channel has grown so much, you guys deserve it.     We live in the midlands and here this dish is called Cantonese Style sweet and sour. Anything Hong Kong Style is usually very hot( chilli) which we hate! I nearly didn’t watch because I thought it was going to have chilli in it- am soooo pleased o did watch. Thank you!

    Any Chinese meals you do are worth watching, imho. I've been velveting chicken using the third method in your tutorial. Amazing difference and the MSG really really makes a big improvement in the flavour.👍
