Turret 😂😂 Recovery gear (tree saver, yankum rope, soft shackles) Turbo (added weight will affect performance) Onboard air (be able to air up after you air down) Jack solution. Standard jack will now struggle due to vehicle new height
I agree with the recovery gear idea. Get a good recovery rope. Also Mission dictates equipment. Go get some training and figure out what equipment you need for your mission. Check in with Expedition Overland I think they have a training facility. It seems like most of the recovery guys use Yankum ropes. Plus they have a nice accessory kit to go with it if you want. Maybe some of that molle that you can mount to seat backs?
If your going to build a war wagon, I would suggest trying to work along side that guys building it as much as you can and learning the in and outs of your rig. Especially if automotive mechanics isn't something you're Especially proficient in. Because if you were to be stranded in the middle of a bad situation you're going to want to know how to get your rig back on the road in a hurry
That’s some seriously sound advice, and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been learning a ton from Jamey and his crew throughout this build, and it’s been a game-changer. Understanding the ins and outs of this rig is going to be crucial if I ever find myself in a tough spot.
@@TimkennedyMMA Also learn about the materials that you are putting on your vehicle. The moment you used your vehicle and when the time comes where you need to replace or repair a component or a part of the car. Its a wrap not a paint job. 4 kids and its his personal car, assume he had ta budget to stick to. wish we all had the budget for full resto. At least he’s gonna use his. Most never do
Get with Magnuson Supercharger because they are bringing back the M90 for 80 series land cruisers! Also like many have said get the front and rear differentials re-geared.
Land Cruiser is looking awesome! If the red in the door jams bother you what I usually do is paint the door jams, hood jams and rear deck jams I paint them black so the original color doesn’t stand out. For my OCD it drives me crazy lol

Take mental note of technicalities, areas to avoid, bypass routes, etc.. this is family time and they are there for fun, not getting stuck and lost (experience). P.s if you come to Idaho I would love to go wheeling. And thank you for what you did after hurricane helene, I have family in NC.
Tim "Is this thing too agressive?" I'll tell you from experience fitting and owning Toyota's with ARB Bullbars they work perfectly, you can scrub bash and push trees over, do recoveries etc and they'll also protect the vehicle and occupants if you hit an object or large bovines like we regularly see here in the Kimberley, Western Australia. Love watching this project come together.
Got a 2018 4Runner trd off road but been thinking about trading it in and getting a 99 to build up. Something about the simplicity of the older vehicles that is so appealing
You’ve chosen well Tim. The 80, 100 and 200 series land cruiser were the staples of The Australian outback since time began. Arb developed all their gear here in Australia. It’s tested, tried and proven. The icon shocks, first class. The tyres are exactly what I run on my current vehicle. I’m sure you’re all over it but a long range fuel tank is a must have as well. I’d also recommend a forward projection light bar. The leds face up and reflect forward to avoid glare on the windscreen. It’s seems crazy to see a staple of the Aussie outback being built in America as we all dream of the big f150’s and Chevy Silverado’s. Enjoy the build. Bring it to Australia and we’ll show you around!!😂
I dig the upgrades. Couldn’t agree more with ARB & Icon products on a Toyota. Have you thought about carrying water and some type of pump system for washing hands, animals and/or showering? I also use a vehicle mounted solar system by Lensun to help keep my auxiliary battery charged that powers my fridge/freezer while not charging off the vehicle’s alternator.
Tim, set up an event at Merus Adventure in Amarillo. There’s a Toyota Take Over event at the beginning of Nov. The community is super kind and gracious.
Your excitement and joy is contagious! I know about this stuff and even built a few, it’s nothing that special to me, just another tool/piece of equipment to get the job done. I normally wouldn’t click on a video like this but I’m glad I did. This is the most joy I’ve seen in well over a month.
Gotta add a snorkel. No replacement for being able to cross max water, plus operating in Texas you want to grab air that isn’t coming off the steaming hot pavement. From there intake improvements and exhaust tweaks to try and improve HP given all the weight you are adding. Good luck. Oh and spray the door jams w gray primer for an industrial vibe.
Love the truck!! You need solar, water system (purification & shower), grill and or cooking setup. Needs recovery boards and an awning. Needs weapon storage and box’s, maybe some armor plates for cover, camera system, starlink and GMRS antenna, Gas and propane tanks , cargo box’s. Good luck Tim, have fun!!
Doing suspension is so easy man if i was you id grab a buddy that knows vehicles and install everything yourself you become so much more familiar with your truck and can fix it yourself when things go wrong.
