If you were a beginner didn’t have any traps what would you use for a baited rat set? The 110 conibear with hagz on 3/8 rod or a foot hold with hagz bracket and 3/8 rod? Thanks for your response.
Apologies for the delay. Both have their pros and cons, but I prefer a 1.5 Bridger Special coil spring for baited sets, it just gives me a little more flexibility is all. As per the 110, I don't use them any more, I use single spring 160's, 159's, etc. ... Under ice, its a toss up between the two, probably give the nod to a body grip for added flexibility with run setting. Open water, coil spring gets the nod... that's me though ;) Either way, both work great.
99% of the time, I do not. ... If I am in swift flowing current and the rod doesn't bit into the bottom well, the I might, but generally, in rat waters, it's not needed. Hope that helps!
@@J3Outdoorz Thanks for the reply. I guess I don't understand exactly what keeps the clip from rotating around the pole... but the quality of your videos and website have convinced me that it probably works really slick. I guess I'll just have to see when I get them... just ordered a set of all your products from the website!
@@stephenchilcott1595 Thank you for your support and patronage. The weight of the trap and the tolerance of the hole in the spring clip keep a single spring trap quite nicely in place. On the XL or with double spring BG's, you could use it the same as the Spring Clip (regular) but we prefer to use a binding action; Run the bottom spring eye over the rebar, then the xl over the rebar, when you get it to desired height, spread the springs to "bind" it in place. Please feel free to reach out at anytime with questions! Thank you once again.
The 3/8” fiberglass rods can be found at Tractor Supply, Farm and Fleet, etc. in 4’ lengths. Small cricks/streams 4’ rods will generally work. For ponds, lakes, larger rivers or really soupy bottoms, you will want 6’ rods. We carry the 6’ lengths here: shop.j3o.com/collections/fiberglass-rods/products/6-x-3-8-fiberglass-rods-w-sunguard
Thanks again for the link. Already placed my order . I think the longer 6 foot rods will work great for what I need them for. What fantastic customer service!!!!!!!!!!!
my stomach turns watching you just randomly grab any parts of those traps! I know they are safety clipped but that doesnt ease the impending doom feeling.
Outstanding brilliant inventive product
Thank you very much Steve
Really like your products I’ll be purchasing before next year
Thank you for your interest Randy. If you ever have any questions, please don't hesitate to reach out.

I just ordered two sets of brackets, dozen of each!!
Thank you for the support! Best of luck to you!

And there goes my next paycheck. I use conibear on several adc jobs and these would make life so much easier
definitely fast and easy :)
Do you put another stick on the side away from the pole to keep the trap from rotating around the pole?
