Rogue, please develop a cable system that has the functionality of low and high cables plus plate loaded. This is why I like Rep Fitness’s cable system.
Agreed. That’s would be really great. I just placed an order for a rogue rack. But it took me a month debating if I should go with Rep, mainly because of the lat attachment (and a little bit on rogue not offering shorter than 24” crossmember for the rear section). The main reason I still went with rogue is (1) I really like the brand and (2) Rep is out of stock for most of the size and color config.
As part of your making attachments fit series it would be awesome if you could go over if the Rep lat pulldown can be modified to work on your Rogue rack :D
I got a Body-Solid lat machine (plate loaded) four years ago for about $360.00. I can do lat pulldowns. seated rows, triceps, biceps, forearms, and shoulders. I use it every day and had no problems with the cables or movement of the plates up and down. They're going for about $550 today.
Great job on your channel and content. I am just about ready to pull the trigger and order up an RM-6 from Rogue. I do not have the space to accommodate a dedicated lat machine, so rack mounted is my only option. I spoke to Rogue last week and they said that they are about a month away from releasing the stack loaded slinger shown on their site. My idea was do something similar to what you did with the 24” extension bottom cross member with a few extra steps. Add a 43” bottom member at the bottom/rear of the rack and install the weight stack on top of that, so it ends up parallel to the rear of the rack. Then you would need to add the rear/single pulley that they are showing on the RM-6 on top of the 24” top member you added, except mount it 180 degrees so that the pulley hangs backward over the top of the stack. Essentially you would end up with the two pulley assemblies mounted back to back on the top 24” member. I hope Rogue flushes out the design and offers something like this as a standard option. The only other thing they need to do is offer a leg pad/attachment to hold you down. This would be a perfect accessory for them to offer for use with the existing socket at the head of the AB-3 bench.
Someone on Facebook used chains to stop the swing on plates when they did a lat pulldown setup similar to what you did with the slinger. Apparently, if the chain is touching the ground, it stops the swing. Of course, that then becomes accomodating resistance, which not everyone wants.
im thinking of drilling out the holes on the cross bars so i can center the slinger in the middle of the rack. it shouldnt slide left to right with oblong holes. I have the rhino on order along with slinger and other necessary components to make it work. In still have to engineer a way to keep the monster bench prop into the rhino. I already have a full functional trainer but i need a 1 to 1 ratio for lat pulldowns and low rows and not enough space to add a dedicated lat machine for it. I think this gives me the most versatility in the small amount of space. wish me luck. expensive as hell though to do this but i also get a rhino, a lat pull down and a low pull for the price of a good lat machine. so i could argue its a good price.
@@BasementBrandon Thats my hope. it looks like there are holes already in the rhino for it. I am thinking it might push the bench up to far though as you know more than anyone the center prop is actually a little behind the cross members. Im hoping it works. the fix for that is to throw more money at it and get longer cross members for the back so both the rhino and monster bench prop both fit. thats a beast of a rack at that point.
The drop in Rhino is best used with the 30" depth rack. The front posts has extra clearance to allow squats outside the rack without bumping your shins into the platform. The 24" beam can be centered if you rotate the 43" upper crossmembers 90 degrees and place them inside your 30" crossmembers.
I think it depends. If you squat facing out like I do, the 24" would still work fine, the bigger issue is getting a bench in deep enough for certain movements!
I'm planning on an RM-6 with 30 inch rear crossmembers instead of the default 24 (and the Rhino), do you think this sounds like a good idea? Obviously it'd be a pretty deep rack, but I'm thinking you'd be able to still do squats/bench/incline(?) inside the rack, and use the Rhino for pulldowns and low rows (besides belt squats obviously).

Honestly, with the perplexing limited amount of choices, the Spud Inc. Pulley System (with chains), is probably the best bet. It's ridiculous that Rogue hasn't addressed this already.
Hi Brandon. Love the content and this video is perfect for my own gym timing. I just put through an order for a RM-690 with a drop in rhino. My plan was to use a Monster shackle to a top gusset and connect a pulley to the shackle and connect a cable to the rhino. My two questions are.. 1. Is my idea with the pulley as opposed to the shackle instead of the slinger fine? 2. I got an extra top cross member so the front and middle will be options for the pulley. Which would you recommend I use? I plan to use a multi grip pull-up bar in the back for rhino loaded chin ups 😁. Thanks!
Yes will def work. For #2, if it's not too late, I'd switch the shackle for the monster post attachment I have in the video. That way you can easily move it from post to post as desired without wrenches.
Hi Brandon, I have this set up (slinger+middle crossmember) coming in soon and I was wondering, did you move the nameplate to the rear because of style? Or does it get in the way of the slinger? I saw that on the rogue website, they keep it in the middle for RM-6 racks.
Dude it is super easy to adjust that cable length. The pieces on either end are just held on by removable screws. Take the end off, cut the cable, screw it back on. Wouldn't take 5 minutes. For the weight plates and loading pin you can just do what you were doing at 2:55 in the video. Undo those screws, slide the stopper further down the cable and the back end would get longer to where you likely wouldn't even need the chain to reach the loading pin.
Really like the concept. I am going to try to make something like that for my rack (x3 flat foot with 10” ext). Instead of the slinger I am going to try different pulley arrangements. Thanks for the idea!!!! WHOOOOO
If you want more slack on the cable just unscrew the cylindrical clamp then force it down using the stopper ball that's what I did. once it gets unstuck so to speak it'll slide right down.

Do you know of any company that offers a power rack so configured that one person can do squats inside of the rack, while a second person does seated lat pulldowns on the outside of the rack, simultaneously?
No crossmember or slinger needed. Just attach a pulley to each crossmember with I bolts/nuts/washers/D rings and a length of cable and you're all set. Cost maybe $30. Adjustability is provided by a length of chain at one end about 18" long. This way you can do exercises seated or standing.

Why, why WHY Rogue doesn't offer a lat pulldown station that fits inside the rack such as Rep or Titan do? Can someone please bring me an answer? It's juste so unusual that a market leader doesn't offer a thing that all its competitors offer. Thanks you and happy lifting 💪

Undecided... a chunk of me thinks people should commit a lot more resources to achieving pull-ups for reps if they don’t have access to a lat pulldown machine.

A little sad that rogue doesn't offer a low and high row for their racks but just about all their competitors do. There application is a bit of a dressed up spud inc inspired design and falls very short of being practical.
I agree you can do a lot with the Spud for less money but it's not as smooth, lot of swing on the weights, lower mounting point, can't bolt it on, etc.
I hang the spud behind the top bar of the rogue fat skinny pull up bar.. the pulley clears the bottom bar and this seems to reduce nearly all swing. Keep up the videos btw great content.
non central cross member - they need to fix the design, at least replace / offer a cross member that allows making it symmetric, so that you can sit on your centrally located bench. I think it would drive me crazy, and I would get rid of the whole system all together
Archon Fitness makes a very inexpensive plate loaded lat pulldown www.fitarchon.com/product/wall-mount-dual-cable-station/ I have no idea if they're any good. I bought the multi-grip bar and saw this.

@@BasementBrandon love it, thanks for the heads' up
I get all the diy and the workarounds to get this type of setup with Rogue if you are really tight on space, but it's unbelievable that they don't have a better option. You can get an entire plate-loaded machine for the cost of the slinger alone...
I agree about them not having a good option, but not sure you can get a decent plate loaded machine for $295?
@@BasementBrandon well for the slinger lite at $270 + plate load for $125 because you need to use it with something + shipping (to me at least) for $46 and tax at $35 for a total of $476 to my door. Titan V2 is $409 with free shipping
Niceee thanks bro for the video💪🏻💪🏻
No problem 👍
Go to a full kneel position?
You could.
What about the rep lat pulldown review?
I will prob do a dedicated review at some point, but I touched upon it on my PR5000 V2.
@@BasementBrandon Is it possible to use the rep lat pulldown with the rogue racks via some shims to adjust for the height and width?
@@BasementBrandon cool.
@@jackyleung5538 I think it would entail much more than that.
Perfect video
Thanks for taking a look!
Has anyone you know of tried fitting the REP pulldown onto a Rogue Monster rack?
It's quite a task as the racks are different widths, heights, and imperial vs metric.
My plan is to do something similar with the surplus strength ultimate lat attachment
nice!
Hey Brandon, what do you think of the new Monster Cave by Rogue?
I like the look but think a set up that sprawls out like that wouldn't be that efficient.
I don't understand why in America a lot of the racks don't offer good lat-pulldown cable attachments. In Europe we have so many choices, especially if you check out the likes of ATX with their stack weight attachement
There are some, but they're usually more budget friendly brands. Wish that wasn't the case!
Why, why WHY Rogue doesn't offer a lat pulldown station that fits inside the rack such as Rep or Titan do? Can someone please bring me an answer? It's juste so unusual that a market leader doesn't offer a thing that all its competitors offer. Thanks you and happy lifting 💪
agreed, seems like a low hanging fruit.
Never realized you couldn't mount the crossmember perfectly down the middle. Looks like maybe you could using a top crossmember instead of a bottom one, but it would look kinda funny mounted sideways like that lol.
Exactly.
Nice video! Side note:You should close the isolation in the roof. It is not safe to breath in those particles from the isolation😄
Might cover it at some point but haven't had any issues in the 6 years I've had it!
Hi Brandon! How did you go about converting your RM-3 to a RM-6? Unless I missed it somewhere, I didn't see a RM-6 Conversion Kit on Rogue's site.
I have a video on it, need to special order parts.
@@BasementBrandon Thanks! I actually noticed and watched it after I watched this vid.
Dear Rogue, please finally release the Monster Weight stack for the slinger.
Sincerely, Everyone
They have already lol
They haven't. They have it on their site but you can't order it.
@@BasementBrandon now they do. But don't have the additional single pulley to drop the weight stack in the back of the RM6, so I'm still waiting..
They have the seat attachment with rollers to hold you down and a low row pulley, But no single pulley attachment to drop in the back of an RM 6. They had the configuration pictured on their website but when I called them to ask how to get the pulley they said it's not available and then I noticed those pictures were taken down.
Go to REI and buy a climbing rope in place of cable and chain thats what we used at our gym.
Thanks for the suggestion!
Dang I think I'll just stick with my 300$ cb-12 lat pull down from amazon. I kinda want the rep rack for its built in lat pull down just to cut down on the clutter in my gym but I don't know if its worth it.
Def best aspect of the REP rack is the pull down.
Surplus strength cable attachments
Have one on the way
Hey Brandon, what would you recommend for a ML squat stand ? I have a little budget home gym, the only 2 things I’m missing are dumbbells and a lat pull down. Any recommendations on how to configure something for my sml-2
Probl something like Spud Inc offers, which you can buy for cheaper and DIY
@@BasementBrandon alright sounds good. I’ll check out the spud inc one just to ensure quality! Thanks man
Now I need a basement* to put all of my cramped equipment.
*basement
Why not just use the Rep lat pull down attachment?
Doesn’t adapt. Different width/heights/mounting pointsw
@Basement Brandon Sorry but I meant why not use it with your Rep 5000 V2? I do realize that you broke it down to a squat rack but it seems that would be a better solution. I believe that you don’t think the Rep rack isn’t as nice as the Rogue Monster Rack.
@@verdelljackson8557 I do use the REP pull down, but just showing here how you can build one in a Rogue rack. The slinger itself doesn't fit as standard on the REP with where things line up.
its crazy that rogue does not include a lat pull down machine you can attach to a rack like powertech and rep fitnes
agreed.
So you’re telling me to buy a hip thruster pad from rogue so I can also work on my gluteus maximizes 😎 to get dump truck like yourself
technically no, subliminally yes.
Industrious.....how much did that ocd bother you on this install 😂
More the actual outcome of the pulley, so I took it down after the video lol
Seriously Rogue? I got something similar from amazon under 20 bucks for my rack. Rep fitness/Titan fitness already have their lat pulldown system while Rogue still behind..
Yeah surprised they keep trying to make the slinger useable vs make something that works the first time.
Undecided... a chunk of me thinks people should commit a lot more resources to achieving pull-ups for reps if they don’t have access to a lat pulldown machine.
As someone that was pretty good in pull-ups (pre pandemic *cries*) and did weighted pull ups; my back started growing A LOT FASTER from the compound pull-up compared to the accessory lat pd.
Pull ups are great
Should have gotten the PR 5000 with the low/ lat attachment . Done ✅
I have that.
Like gym legos haha
big boys, big toys
Workout equipmentception!’n
lol
I wish rogue would release the weight stack version for monster racks. Why they released it for smaller racks first is really annoying. Especially since they did it over a year ago. Come on rogue!!!!!!!!!
Agreed on this
A little sad that rogue doesn't offer a low and high row for their racks but just about all their competitors do. There application is a bit of a dressed up spud inc inspired design and falls very short of being practical.
agreed
@5:31 the Slinger is now 370$ lol you got a deal lol
Actually rack prices have gone up too and the lat pulldowns
ouch
Still don't see why the spud inc system for the amount of time youd spend doing lat pulldowns isnt the better option. Takes up zero rack space
1:05
There's 8 holes on the left and ONLY 7 on the right...the horror!
Prob why it didn't last 😅
1:00 - Ahhhh, literally unusable now. Come on Rogue, get your shit together.
lol
All about that algorithm
😂😂😂
my dude
Can anybody comment on the quality of Rogue monster rack weld quality. I just ordered a RM-3 hoping it will meet my expectations for quality?
Some of the best welds!
Be careful around that water meter. It could be disastrous 💦
:)
non central cross member - they need to fix the design, at least replace / offer a cross member that allows making it symmetric, so that you can sit on your centrally located bench. I think it would drive me crazy, and I would get rid of the whole system all together
Lol yeah I took it down right after!
Or you can watch Coop show you how to make a Lat Pull for around $30 bucks. Or buy Spud Inc's EconoPully for around $80
or buy the Coop Squat for more. Lots of options. I have videos on the Spud.
Been a fan of Spuds stuff a while. Just wish the EconoPulley was a coated cable from the start
Archon Fitness makes a very inexpensive plate loaded lat pulldown www.fitarchon.com/product/wall-mount-dual-cable-station/
I have no idea if they're any good. I bought the multi-grip bar and saw this.
Right on!
Bigger than last time
Hey now
The fact Rogue doesn’t have an integrated option like Rep’s lat pull down or their new Ares system is an embarrassment. I’m a Rogue fanboy and love their bring back American manufacturing ethos, but this glaring lack of functionality will probably have me going Rep on my new rack.
Yeah doesn’t make sense to me!
I suspect you made this video to simply rep more 35’s
;)
There was a german dude when I was exiting the parkinglot to go get my
keys. He asked me if I was german. I said american. He then proceeded to
push mercedes keys into my hand. I asked: gift? He said: No valet.
lol
Brandon, you spend all this money on equipment but nothing between you and breathing in that fiberglass. Drywall is your friend bro.
no need!
All that and no low row.
You could add another pulled pretty easily.
When is your birthday? Coop will gift you a rhino cause he’s that kinda guy.
Coop is a hoarder.
You could just do pullups.....
for tricep pushdowns?
@@BasementBrandon muscle ups, dips....
Damn this thing is so overpriced. It looks like it’s worth $200 max.
The slinger itself is $295, but if you use all these add ons I already had it gets way out of hand.
first
There ya go!
do you know how a rhino drop-in is connected? does it interfer with your pro bench if you get it?
I would not be able to use the prop in that set up as it mounts to the rear storage rails
@@BasementBrandon Sad. I have a okey cheap rack, But i dream off a fully stackt Rouge rack. The pro bench seems simpel and inginus but the belt sqaut is to cool not to have when i go that route
@@BasementBrandon I just emailed Rogue to see if I can order an RM-6 with 30" rear crossmembers instead of 24, so that there'd be 6 inches between the Rhino platform and the center post. Not sure if those few extra inches would even be enouch for the bench prop (?), but hopefully it'd at least be enough room to not interfere with squat/bench/incline setup...
