I honestly love both versions, can’t pick one over the other!! It’s just fun to observe.
I’ve heard this song on TikTok and became obsessed over the sound of his voice and the lyrics but I don’t know what the context of it is about. Does anyone care to explain?
In the Iliad the Greeks fear that Hector's only son, Astyanax, will grow up to avenge his father and decide to have Neoptolemus, the son of Achilles, (or in some versions, Odysseus is the killer) throw him off the city walls. In EPIC, Zeus forces Odysseus to be the one to kill Astyanax.
Zeus comes down and warns Odysseus that if he does not end the infant prince of Troy, the infant will grow up and want revenge, and will succeed as Odysseus will be too old at the time to fight back, but Odysseus is struggling, and also, the "When does a man become a monster" has a double meaning, it means both that Odysseus will become a monster if he kills an infant, but the infant will become a monster if he doesn't
@@TheGoldenGuard16 There's a lot of double meanings. "When does the reason become the blame" applies to both Odysseus stooping so low to kill a child, even if he has a good reason, and the child that will try to avenge Troy will just follow the endless cycle of revenge.
Having spent my life making a bit of a game out of puzzling out the story behind songs with my sister, the Story behind this one hit me like a freight train. From the first note, you can FEEL how much Odysseus doesn't want to kill this innocent child, but is forced by Agamemnon to do just that. The man who just wants to go home to his Wife and Son, forced to murder a child no older than his own was the day he left to fight in some egomaniac's war on the far side of their world. You know that his instincts as a Father to protect Hector's son are battling with his desire for the War to end so he can go home to his own boy. Heartbreaking from start to finish and I can't help but Love it.
I love this musical and am absolutely fascinated by it in both a compositional & historical context. A story about gods, monsters, and men. A fantastical tale about the human condition with compelling characers & narrative that has been passed down through oral tradition, stories, and other forms of media down the river of time for over 2000 years. A story that survived well after the hallmarks of it's culture and time stretched back into antiquity into the persent day, and it's it has foud its way into the minds of mankind yet again. An absolutely killer example of good storytelling standing not just the test of decades or centuries, but millenia. Absolutely fascinating.
it isn't out yet 😭😭 the troy saga which contains the first 5 songs of the musical is all we have rn. new saga will come very soon (like late january). jorge rivera herran regularly posts updates, auditions and song snippets from the other songs on his tiktok page. i'd recommend giving him a follow if you're interested
"I'm just a man" that sentence holds so much weight. It's like "I'm just a man, I'm just /one man/, i cannot possibly bear this burden". And also "I'm just a man", as in, he's convincing himself that this is was evitable, that he, a man, is just going to do what he was told, because he has been taught no better and also "im just a man" trying desperately to convince himself he is no monster but knowing deep down he's become something else by taking this infants life. No longer a man, but a monster.

This couldve been perfect in Transformers ONE. The moment Orion gets shot in trying to stop his brother from killing Sentinel, and in the instant D-16 dies inside and is reborn, as Megatron.
At least I hope he made it quick and clean, that he swiftly cut his little throat or something, because throwing him down the, oh so Tall walls of Troy, letting his final moments to be full of terror and then possibly leaving him to wait for death in pure agony (in case the death, while inevitable was not instant) is just pure cruelty. Unnecessary cruelty.
and yet... that's how it happened. the only thing I can imagine as to why he did it like this in this story is 1. he was sure the impact would be an instant death, 2. was to show it to his men and everyone; claiming this death and not hiding he was the one who does it. because otherwise then anyone could say any rando did it. But he's not hiding he's the one shouldering this act alone to his enemies and allies. But in the end, there's no way to know why it was written that way.
Not gonna lie everytime I listen to this song I like to think about asgore, The things he's seen and been through, And how he needs to kill kids to try and free the underground.
But when, does a comet become a meteor When does a candle become a blaze When does a man become a monsterr When does a ripple become a tidal wave When does a reason become the blame When does a man become a monsterrr? When, does a comet become a meteor? When does a candle become a blaze? (Forgive me) When does a man become a Monsterrr? (Forgive me) When does a man become a monsterrr? (Forgive me) I'm Just A Man....
1:37 "When does a man become a monster?" Satan and his demons dance directly on top of the blurred line. The line in which actions count as evil. The line in which a man becomes a monster. #FuckLifeAsAWhole
(talking about the famous part here) It's interesting how by the music and tone of voice in this song i feel something empowering heroic and almost explosive yet the lyrics go down in the negative sometimes and it creates a dissonance. Like i want that song to be present when the character is unlocking their true potential but the lyrics keep going into the corruption hate despair and sadness. It's weird.

@@TheGoldenGuard16 There's a lot of double meanings. "When does the reason become the blame" applies to both Odysseus stooping so low to kill a child, even if he has a good reason, and the child that will try to avenge Troy will just follow the endless cycle of revenge.
i 'm listening to this on repeat to remember the lyrics
Poor Hector, he and his family deserved better...
Why not read the book if the dumb fan made tiktok songs confuse you.
Can't. Stop. Listening.
HELP.
1:30 I thought this said "When does a carpet become a media" 😭😭
I’ve heard “when does a cabbage become a meteor”
@@SleepyHollowKnightI hear that too ngl
I know the story behind this (and I love both albums now) but a fantastic and accurate Avatar video brought me here.
Who else here from the BG3 edit? 😭
✋️
I didn't, but the person who made that edit absolutely rules. It fits perfectly!
not just "the" BG3 edit.
"THAT" bg3 edit. 🙌
1:28 is where I keep playing from
What a voice, powerful song....
The sounds like a freaking Disney song and I love that.
Currently lying down on my bed contemplating my existence in the universe
This is the best song I have ever heard
Screaming and crying currently
Next AOT song for sure
So far it has been a "the Owl Hose" song
sigh, it fits AOT as well
Someone made an edit to it on tiktok
I found this song on tik tok and now I want to watch the musical so can anyone tell me where I can watch it?
it isn't out yet 😭😭 the troy saga which contains the first 5 songs of the musical is all we have rn. new saga will come very soon (like late january). jorge rivera herran regularly posts updates, auditions and song snippets from the other songs on his tiktok page. i'd recommend giving him a follow if you're interested
Is this a tiktok play?
no the creators have plans for this musical to have much bigger productions
"I'm just a man" that sentence holds so much weight. It's like "I'm just a man, I'm just /one man/, i cannot possibly bear this burden". And also "I'm just a man", as in, he's convincing himself that this is was evitable, that he, a man, is just going to do what he was told, because he has been taught no better and also "im just a man" trying desperately to convince himself he is no monster but knowing deep down he's become something else by taking this infants life. No longer a man, but a monster.
0:52 just for future reference
1:31 finally i now can see that its comet and not cabbage said
after seeing a misheard lyric version of this
i couldn't hear the word comet ONLY CABBAGE
😂

hearing cabbage and not knowing it should be comet
was driving me insane
lmao me too lol
When does a man become a miserable pile of cabbage?
That BG3 edit
1:30 is the part most used in edits if your lookin
Deeper than a regular song.
Listening to this and then immediately Monster in the underworld saga... 😭
If this is making me cry now imagine seeing this live at the stage...
The last verses mean that when does the thing become something big that it has a big effect on others
"When does a cabbage become a meteor" 😔
"When does cabbage become a blaze" 😢
This couldve been perfect in Transformers ONE. The moment Orion gets shot in trying to stop his brother from killing Sentinel, and in the instant D-16 dies inside and is reborn, as Megatron.
This has a Disney song feel
this gave me goosebumps omgg 1:35
And don't go around breaking young girls' hearts
wait,,, what song is this? iv seen this on video, what are you spelling out? ANSWEERRRR MEEEEEEEEEEE (or dont)
lmao he's writing lyrics to billie jean
@@juicylobster ooohh. I sjould have realised, i know that song so well! thanks!!
But in the end, there's no way to know why it was written that way.
ikr
This gave me the god damn chills
ok hear me out… Rhysand under the mountain? iykyk
Right? Fits him too.
Does anyone ever just randomly sing, "I'm the man behind the slaaauuughtteerrrrrr" 😊
great song it just kills me because Odesseus had no quals yeeting that kid off the wall
When, does a CABBAGE become a meteor?
So this is when he kills the baby?
no in this song he's just reflecting on his life 👍
I think that he actually kill the kid
@@juicylobster But he did kill the baby?
Yes
@@taylorl880 Ok. Slay I guess?
.75 speed makes this so much more painful.
trying this now 👀
It distorts the audio waaaaaaayyyy to much
I don't know why but half of me is sad but the other half wants to hear the baby screaming as it gets thrown off the walls... Im definitely psychotic
Not gonna lie everytime I listen to this song I like to think about asgore, The things he's seen and been through, And how he needs to kill kids to try and free the underground.
Is that from a anime?
@@jamescannella1395 undertale
I have no idea where this comes from but I'm here because of an edit of Baldur's gate
LMAO SAME
Love this song 🥲
I listened to monster and this song and now I want to watch the musical
0:52 For my own reference to loop a section of the song
made me cry
There has to be a remake where, instead of "monster", the lyrics say
When does a man become a hero/memory
Idk, in my head it sounds great
Where can I see the musical??
ok now imagine Merlin after Arthur found out he has magic
Ouch 😭
This song just reminds me of Kratos
No idea what this is from but I seen it in a dope ass anime edit😂
This perfectly fits N from murder drones
1:28
This reminds me so much to Remnants of Filth (YuWu), it fits the novel so well....
But when, does a comet become a meteor
When does a candle become a blaze
When does a man become a monsterr
When does a ripple become a tidal wave
When does a reason become the blame
When does a man become a monsterrr?
When, does a comet become a meteor?
When does a candle become a blaze? (Forgive me)
When does a man become a
Monsterrr? (Forgive me)
When does a man become a monsterrr? (Forgive me)
I'm Just A Man....
When does a cabbage become a meteor 😢
Wish someone would loop the last part
Does he kill the baby at the end?
yes
Yes... Because If he didn't, That very child will kill him and his family. He have have no choice😭💔
I thought he said
"But when does a cabbage become a meteor?"
1:37
"When does a man become a monster?"
Satan and his demons dance directly on top of the blurred line. The line in which actions count as evil. The line in which a man becomes a monster.
#FuckLifeAsAWhole
Pretty sure Satan and his demons are quite literally so far on one side of that line they don't even know the line exists....
It's weird.
when😟 does a cabbage 🥬 become a meteor☄️🛸🌠🥬😥
