    Hi James. Thanks for that video. Very detailed, good to understand. Could you dive into the mentioned topic tire temp and tire temp versus pressure? Would appreciate that! Maybe a topic for one of your next videos. Regards from Bavaria

      I totally agree, it was a great video to watch! Had a lot of information but at the same time was easy to follow. I would appreciate if you could dive deeper into the topic of tire temp versus tire pressure, too. I also thought about analysing my tire pressures the way you showed us, and it is a great way to get to know your tires, but it keeps nagging at me weather I am really finding out my optimal pressure or my tire temps only happened to be optimal at this moment. 😄 I think you might have to do multiple iterations to get closer to the optimum, because the easy way of having constant pressure/temps and varying the opposite is difficult to put into practice. Thanks a lot and keep up the great videos!

    Great video as always James. Thanks so much. I have one of the systems from Matt in the US that I use with my Solo DL and it works well so far. I just have to learn how to use the data and videos like this help me do just that. One quick question: I can't seem to replicate your screen of the X/Y scatter plot with the four sectors - one for each wheel. This is at 23:12 in the video. Is there some tutorial that might help me with general screen setup to be able to
    replicate what you have done? Regards, and thanks from Trinidad

    Hi James
    Interesting as usual, do you have 4 sensors. one sensor on each tire?
    How many sensors should I have on De Tomaso Pantera?
    Will there be a difference with Pressure Monitoring Systems on Solo2 DL vs GS-Dash?
    Thanks for your help Anders

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  Год назад +1

      Hi Anders. Guessing your Pantera doesn’t have an ECU so the Solo 2 DL you have will work. It’s a sensor for each tyre with temp and pressure coming from the valve. On the Solo 2 DL, you’d need to configure a page with 4 channels and then have one for each wheel on screen. Hope that helps.

    I have installed MX2E on my Lotus Exige Cup 430. Can I install TPMS on my Lotus to replace factory TPMS? I was told the factory TPMS has occupied the ECU channel. But I really want to have more detail tire pressure reading from my dash.

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  2 года назад +1

      Hi! I would imagine that ECU from your car is sending all channels as well as TPMS. Some TPMS system (like the one in this video) need an ECU port to function. So, the question is whether your car has two ECU ports (so dashes do). I recommend emailing AiM at support@aimtechnologies.com and they'll be able to confirm for you if you can use a second ECU input. Hope this helps. James

    Hi James, what exactly i have to buy to se Tryre pressure and temperatur in my Solo DL2 for my Motorcycle tyres? And may ii use the Lights on my solo to warn if the pressure is to high?

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  2 года назад +1

      These TMPS systems use the ECU port on your device so I would recommend talking to AiM as I believe it'll be difficult to have both the ECU from your bike nad ECU from the TMPS right now. The folks at AiMShop can talk you through this I'm sure.

    In the scope of evo4s, does this TPMS CAN kit block the only ECU input of the data logger? Is it connected in the ECU port or in regular CAN?
    Thanks

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  4 месяца назад

      On the EVO4S it uses the only single ECU port. So, if you've already got that being used, it prevents you from using TPMS as well.

    • @SymphonyOnAsphalt
      @SymphonyOnAsphalt 4 месяца назад

      @@JamesColborn It's the reason why I can not get into this tech, EVO4S does not have enough "power" to handle this job. Another path is to embed ECU and TPMS is an Arduino CAN and create a new protocol to give it to EVO4S. But TPMS PID is not open source, it's a reverse engineering task...a headache...

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  4 месяца назад

      @@SymphonyOnAsphalt I tend to agree with you here. I would like the systems to be more compatible. The latest 'tech' does have multiple CAN ECU ports to overcome this but I think creating a protocol for TMPS so it can be used in a Channel Expansion is a great idea and one that I recommend you send to AiM (the more requests, the greater the tech prioritisation). Thanks for commenting on the video, I really do appreciate it.

    James, can I create TPMS dash alarms similar to your setup on the Solo2 DL?

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  Год назад +1

      You should be able to. It might not be exact but you can configure a screen for TPMS.

    • @chadb5268
      @chadb5268 Год назад

      Appreciate your response! I read the manual and it appears the SOLO2 DL is capable of TPMS monitoring, but no type of alarm status. The LEDs can only be used as either gear shift lights or use for predictive time. Looks like I will be needing the MXS Strada Light. @@JamesColborn

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  Год назад

      That makes sense to me. Thanks for letting me know. I know you can use at 2 DL for TPMS but that's great info on the alarms for others to know. Agree, more advanced alarms require a more comprehesive dash solution.

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  3 года назад

      Hi Kev. If you’ve got an ECU plugged into your MXL2 then you won’t be able to use these. You’ll either need a car with all sensors (no ECU) like my Formula Ford or one of the newer 2.1 series dashes (like an MXG) where you can add a second ECU stream.

      Hi Kev, I'm not 100% sure of your connection so I'd give AiM Shop a quick call and they'll help you get the right cables for the harness of your MXL2. What I can say is that if you aren't using an ECU elsewhere, you'll be able to use the TPMS system. Wish I could be of more help but AiM will sort you out. Thanks!

    What if im using signal from ECU like Motec M150.

    In your video there is only TPMS stream and no ECU data.

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  3 года назад

      Hi! This depends upon the system you are using. If you are using an MX series, you can import two CAN Protocols and make it work that way. Outside of that, I recommend working with your AiM dealer to help determine if there are other ways of connecting the TPMS system. Thanks!

      There is a good discussion on the AiM Sports FB page on this right now. I wonder if you can get the TPMS system to talk to your MoTeC ECU and then pass the channel through that to the EVO4S. Hope you can get this sorted as the data is proving really interesting.

    Do these sensors/TPMS system really only have 1psi resolution or is that just a limitation of the CAN definition?

    • @JamesColborn
      @JamesColborn  3 года назад

      Hi there. I believe you can have up to 2 decimal places. I run one as 20.5 is enough for me but you can go a little bit more granular if needed.

    • @Jeffis2k
      @Jeffis2k 3 года назад

      You can configure the CAN profile for multiple decimal places, but the sensor data sheet on Aimshop claims +/- 20mbar. I have found mine to be ~1PSI in use.

      I don't believe you can. I would confirm 100% with your AiM retailer, however, these units require an ECU port to work and I don't believe the 5s has one.
