    Dale gets a DQ Blizzard and Buckethead gets tied up to a portable grill in the parking lot. Something seems off...🙃

    Back on the rez, growing up we rode everywhere bareback. I didn't ride a saddle until I was tall enough to ride my dad's saddle when I was about 13-14.
    Great job 👍

    Next to Boone, Buckethead is my favorite of Dale's horses. Love a buckskin and those 4 black stockings. Beautiful!

    DB is definitely tougher than me. Bareback I couldn't make it 10 miles. I don't know how far the old Comanche bands could move at a trot, but I do know the United States cavalry regiments were expected to move 40 miles per day at a trot. They could do it too. COL McKenzie, "Bad Hand," surprised the Comanche in Palo Duro in 1874 and put 'em all afoot with his surprise march from Jacksboro, TX. Great video, man! Quality stuff, brother!

      @ThrashingBuddha 11 месяцев назад +1

      the Cavalry regiments had saddles and could rise and sit? Or also just sit?

    • @user-wz2ex7ux9h
      @user-wz2ex7ux9h 11 месяцев назад +2

      @ThrashingBuddha yes, they could post as they moved out. They'd also stop about every 8 to 10 miles, dismount, and walk a while in order to prolong the endurance of their mounts. The amazing thing is they could do it day after day.

    That was really interesting and fun to watch. So much better than a lot of horsevideos.
    I learned to ride bareback, on ponies, we had baler twine to use as a sort of bridle and got thrown off a lot. Gives you a better seat. Now, I'd make it about 20 feet and on dismounting, my legs would buckle under me I'm pretty sure. Twice I've ridden gaited horses bareback, one was a burly Nova Scotia Pacer, he *paced*, so you'd rock back and forth, and no matter how hard I drummed my bare heels on his sides, he would not break his gait. Another was a retired Standardbred racer who only trotted, and again, I could not make him break gait.
    Indigenous riders, Indians, at Calgary Stampede this year were impressive. They have bareback relay races, and the way they mount is startling - they grab onto the mane, the horse is trained to rear and swings them right up onto its back. Fastest way to get started.
    Look at the bareback riders of ancient Greece on the Parthenon sculptures that the Brits swiped from Greece. I started reading Xenophon on horse training, written 350BC and still relevant. Saddles were unknown, and they not only rode bareback in battle, they also had to throw lances and fire bows/arrows at the same time. Similar to North American Indians.

    I grew up riding bareback. I learned to swing up on a horse just like you did. I used to start out in the morning riding, bareback and ride all day bareback. It’s been far too many years now and I couldn’t do it anymore. I ride now with a saddle, but riding bareback was definitely fun when I was a child and a teenager.
    I enjoyed the video. Good job! Good Horse. Thank you for the fun video.

    Dale will you drop a shirt that reads "Atta Boy Donnie" it'd be hilarious. If you drop it I promise to buy it as soon as it drops as well as Woah Boone if you still have it in my size.
    Woah Boone, YANC, and Atta Boy Donnie are probably my favorite Dale Quotes.
