I disagree, it's called BOY scouts. As a scout myself I would not be comfortable with a girl in our troop. And if they want a program like the Boy Scouts improve your local Girl Scout troop. Don't try and stir up trouble by trying to mess the Boy Scouts and say it's discriminating.

I was thinking about this: Why not have girls and boys separate until 16? In schools there would probably be enough maturity to be realizing this is a male and female world. At 16 they would be able to realize a career path and know they can choose their company.

Perhaps the Girls Scouts should re-assess the programmes they offer? If being a boy scout is more engaging and more valuable in the long run, girls will naturally want to participate in that organisation, ad opposed to the girl scouts.

I'm a girl and honestly I'd rather be in boy scouts they have more things to do like archery and survival etc I just love more things like survival than just going to a Aquarium Zoo or just selling cookies outside a local Walmart like that shiz is boring I love survival and I think if boys wanna join girl scouts they should be aloud too and if girls wanna join boys that should be excepted too!

Theory (1)I don't think it's a gender thing. Someone said the girl scouts were an independent organization. I think this whole thing was fueled because of money. The merging of the two groups will no longer make the girl scouts independent. I guess what I'm saying is someone is trying to monopolize this. How hope it passed. I can’t wait to join the girls scout. Can’t wait to be surrounded by girls in the shower room, I take 3-4 hours shower every night.
Having been in scouts from 8 to 18as a scout, then later being a scoutmaster for 16 years, I see nothing wrong going coed for the BSA. I have 2 kids, a boy and a girl. My son was in scouting at 8 and went on to earn his Eagle rank. My daughter, who is older by 21 months was in GSA starting at 8 and maybe was in for 2 years. I had to take her with me to troop meeting due to not having a babysitter, and she would take part in the meeting. She asked if she could join the troop several times and was very disappointed each time I had to tell her no. She said GSA didn't do anything fun, that all they were doing was cooking in their leaders kitchen or selling cookies.
My daughter has done everything required to earn an Eagle. Because she is a girl she can't have it. I believe each unit, either BSA or GSA should be allowed to decide for themselves if they want to be coed or not.
I have said to several young boys that Scouting has something for every boy, but every boy doesn't have something for scouting. I believe this applies to girls as well.
The Girl Scouts should just make their organization better by getting eagle rank and stuff like that of the Boy Scouts. But instead they just try too take ours...
