- Huge news for Wellingborough. We win the high court case over the unlawful felling of our historic lime tree avenue which many of us locals sought to protect. I filmed BBC Look East interview Marion-Turner-Hawes about the matter. Great stuff and big big thank you to all who gave their support.

The sad part about it is the fine will be totally disproportionate to the criminal damage caused. I remember rare trees (TPO) being felled at Finedon Hall in the early 80s by Sinclair Wade. Hes was fined a few hundred £s and knew it beforehand. I suspect Bovis will still be chuckling away in the Board Room. Make them plant new semi mature trees in the same place.
Purple, where did the council get the money from to fight this case in the High Court and I take it that they will now have to pay the Court Costs having lost. Where has, or is this money coming from?
So: Compensation to those who were arrested or otherwise sanctioned, and then let's have some reparations for the trees that were unlawfully felled last year.
