I have never heard a logical explanation for why they are so excited after one minute or one hour of being gone until now. Thank you. I had heard because they don’t understand time but I feel that was BS because my dogs know dinner time and snack time and walk time :) they know time. How do dog know time by the way? I love your videos. You have the best way of explaining something for my simple mind. If you do know how they can tell time could you let me know? Or do a video? Great channel. Thank you

Great videos!!! I’ve enjoyed watching them! I always learn from them. My puppy dog likes to LICK me when she wants something! Usually she has to go outside to go potty!
I even call her “LICKY LOU”!!!! Lick, lick, lick!!!😊😂

    • @DoggyPaw1

Dogs communicate with us through body language, vocalizations, and scent. Licking is another form of
communication that can convey a variety of meanings. Perhaps the most obvious reason for a dog to lick
your face is that they love you and want to show you.

Thank you so much for the support and kind words! It’s great to hear that you’re enjoying the videos and learning from them-that’s exactly why I create this content! Your "Licky Lou" sounds like such a sweet and clever pup! It’s amazing how dogs develop their own unique ways to communicate with us, and licking is such a common (and adorable) one. She definitely knows how to get your attention! Thanks for sharing your story, and give "Licky Lou" some extra pets for me! 😄🧡

All of this has proven true with my two gsd’s, especially my male. He would walk away from a fresh steak or chew his way through a grizzly to get to me. It’s peculiar to me because he’s not a weak nerved or insecure dog. He’s actually as fearless, dominant and hard of a dog as I’ve ever known yet he’s 100% without question bonded to me above everything else in existence. It’s truly incredible to experience such a bond. And the facial expressions thing is real too, both of my dogs can read what I’m wanting based solely on something as small as eyebrow movements

as a vet and ethologist i must say that the belly exposing bit is both true and wrong. Dogs do this for two things, to show that they feel safe around you, but also to show that you are the boss and that they fear you and are 1000% submitted to you.
If you want to know if a dog is mistreated by its owner you check if the dog does that the second the owner is around, or gets close, it doesn't mean love, it means utter fear. I have had at least 70 dogs removed from their owners because of that and it turned out, i was right every single time.
If your dog does that with you, either your dog loves you because you are the kindest person to this animal or if you are not exactly the kindest person (and you know it) then you have to 100% reconsider your skills or reconsider having a dog, because you are doing it wrong.
As poet owner you know if you are treating your dogs right or not. You can lie to everybody else, but not to yourself.

My GSD shows his belly to everyone after about 15-30 minutes of that person being here. He was neglected by the lady who had him before us. He spent up to 20 hours a day in his crate which was too small. He’s old now and his back legs and hips are bad (but he’s 120 pounds and tall. I mean like he can rest his chin on our dinning room table tall). I’ve never heard that doing this can mean fear. 😢. That makes me sad. He is neurotic at times and isn’t well trained overall but we’ve done our best with him and he’s a gentle giant that will scare the bejesus out of new visitors with his bark. When new people come until he’s comfortable he stands between me and that new person and tries to push me backwards. I love that old guy. (He’s 9 now, we got him at age 3).

@@PinkieJoJo Hi there, thanks for the comment. First of all thank you for what you did to that German Shepherd, you probably saved its life and i am certain the dog knows it. 20hrs a day in a small crate since puppyhood is 100% animal cruelty The psychological and physical damage on the animal is certain and the neurotic behaviour and mobility issues are a direct testimony of this.
As i said in the comment, it is really one or the other. Either the dog loves you or the dog fears you. I am certain that in your case scenario it is love not fear. An even an instinct of protection toward you, hence the dog standing between you and visitors and pushing you away from the visitor. Your dog clearly loves you.
I do hope a vet can do something for the mobility issue, but as for the neurotic behaviour, it is very difficult and long to require the brain of a dog and honestly if your dog is not a danger to you or others then i see no reason to change anything. Yes you have a neurotic dog, but to some extend not only all dogs are neurotic but so are human beings. Most of us or them are just in the lower end of the spectrum and fly under the radar that's all !

@@PinkieJoJo I have two rescue dogs at home here in Japan where i live and work, (originally from Europe). The tiny one is a rescue from a horrendous breeder, who wanted to get rid of it because of a physical deformity, this one was neglected but at least i got her young enough to deal with both the neurotic behaviour and the physical deformity so now at age 4 her legs are fine and she runs like any other dog. She is still very needy because she was removed from her mother at a week or so and basically left to you know what, and if that girl hadn't been rescued by a team of great Japanese volunteers she would be history today.

    • @Hannari-xt6nr
      @Hannari-xt6nr 3 дня назад +1

@@PinkieJoJo My other dog is another story altogether. She is a rescue from the south of Japan, the island of Shikoku where she ws a stray mountain dog probably caught as a pup to be trained for dog fights. She is a natural indigenous stray Tosa dog and was bred for dog fighting in Japan after being caught, then probably because she couldn't fight anymore she was sold to some guy to become an Inugami. This is a folkloric belief that you can attract luck and powers by taking the soul of a dog. The process is of course extremely painful and the outcome for the dog is always the same. (i'll let you look up Inugami process online if you have the nerves for). So when i got her she was already over 2 years old, and traumatized beyond belief.
he first team which "rescued" her from the inugami process were japanese animal control teams so she was just saved from the Inugami process as it is illegal in Japan today, but taken to the Japanese animal pound where she was going to be euthanized anyway. That's where the true rescue team got her and tried to rehabilitate her and how she ended up with me.
She was filthy, had countless skin problems, teeth problems, and terrified of everything to the point of getting nauseous at the slightest sound and spilling her guts everywhere from both ends. For the first 4 days she didn't eat, didn't drink didn't come out of her crate and i was starting to get worried, but she showed no sign of aggressiveness. And she never did. She is the nicest dog i have ever had, she never barks, never growls never gets angry, she is the nicest dog to my other dog and my cats . But even after three years with me, she is terrified of everything, and can only go for walks early in the morning or late at night to avoid people as she trusts nobody but me and my wife, and will still get nauseous when strangers approach her.
When she first saw me she rolled on her back and showed me her belly, that was utter fear from her, now after years together she doesn't show me her belly anymore, which means she is not scared of me, but she doesn't show me her belly out of love either. I think she is years away from showing love this way b ut she shows it in other ways. But even today she spends nearly 90% of her time in her crate (the door is wide open all day but she only comes out for food, walks, and to play just a little around sunset which is her playtime apparently.
She will never behave like a regular dog and this is fine. With this level of trauma, the fact that she is not aggressive and eats and rink by herself and found some sort of comfort indoors is more than enough. I just drive her to the mountains once a week where there is nobody and we hike for a few hours, that's where she is at her best.

Tip: ignore your dog (especially a new pup) during thunderstorms. Just act business as usual, no cause for alarm. Don't grab them and cuddle them. That just teaches them to always be scared of storms.

I would add another adorable doggy (and sometimes cat) behavior; that is, they like to dine with their human. I have witnessed dogs bringing a mouthful of food to their human at the dinner table or just when you're eating popcorn or whatever on the sofa. The dog will then unload the mouthful of kibble on the floor next to their master or mistress and look up expectantly as if we are going to start eating whatever they have just brought to us (yuck!) Dogs are the best!
