- Alice Rohrwacher, Josh O'Connor, and Isabella Rossellini sat down with NYFF Artistic Director Dennis Lim after the NYFF61 premiere of their Main Slate selection La Chimera to discuss archaeology, mutual admiration, and a new generation of Italian filmmaking.
With her customarily bewitching mixture of earthiness and magical realism, Alice Rohrwacher (Happy as Lazzaro) conjures a marvelous entertainment starring Josh O’Connor as a ne’er-do well Englishman, handsomely rumpled and recently out of prison, who returns to a rural town in central Italy where he hesitantly reconnects with a ragtag group of tombaroli (tomb raiders).

same, just saw it for a second time & it's solidified itself as one of my favorite films ever. came at a great time, personally speaking, as i am currently learning italian. inspiring that the lead actor learned italian just for the role
I love what Isabella said about the choir because I noticed that in the scene, it was like singing - different notes in that scene.

Alice is perhaps the director who best articulates her thoughts and has the most unique ideas about cinema. Truly awe-insipring every time I see her talk.

where did you watch it?? I've been looking for it everywhere - but apparently it only hits cinemas on the 29th of March :/
I discovered Alice Rohrwacher through my grandson, who saw the film, La Chimera, and told me about it. I immediately looked up the film and am now a big fan of Alice and her work as is my grandson.
The way they all speak about this town and it's people make me want to visit it so badly. It sounds so charming.

wow. this just shifted something in me. I'm going to start printing pictures. I've already started buying real records again as well. digital things are certainly convenient but it can't be the only thing that we rely on.
