You know, kind of makes you wonder if 5P intentionally drove everyone away so that he didn't have to face the consequences of his actions. Yet just like the rot was literally eating him away, his guilt was eating him away Metaphorically. Hence why by the time of Saint, he just 'Appreciates the company'. Can't keep up an act anymore, as theres no reason and nothing left to act for.
I don't think he drove everyone away, the equipment was failing after thousands or who knows how many years... He couldn't communicate with anyone. And that's the fate of every iterator. Eons spent alone. And then their can falls, and then they spend eons as husks. Perhaps they get buried alive... turning into mountains.
@pezvonpez eh, it’s probably a bit of both. It’s clear he drove them away at first, he even said himself he didn’t want to have to face SRS after the way he acted. However, the deteriorating comms meant after a certain point it became significantly harder to contact Seven Red Suns, compounding the issue and making it easier to simply wallow in his misery than try to reach out for help. He certainly wasn’t going to ask Moon, she was in even worse shape than him, and entirely by his own fault. He did assist Moon with her resurrection, but that wasn’t going to wash away what he did, and without her can she couldn’t even connect with local comms anyway, so contacting her was a moot point. He pushed them both away, and then couldn’t reconnect even if he wanted to without a lot of effort someone it his mental state wouldn’t be able to follow through with.
@@pezvonpezHe canonically shut himself off from the others before and during Moon's collapse. That is why the Spearmaster was sent. Seven Red Suns was trying desperately to contact Five Pebbles, but FP only misunderstood, becoming even more distraught, angrily reminding Suns that he was in this mess because of him (which is true. Suns told Pebbles the secret to circumvent the taboos placed by the ancients, and Moon interrupted him during the process, causing it to go disastrously wrong and create the Rot.) throwing the Spearmaster from his chamber and destroying his Overseer. At this time, I think it's safe to say that this is the Iterator equivalent of FP having a mental breakdown. He's been through so much, as a painful cancer spreads through his body, all he can feel is anger, fear, and confusion. Emotions that are alien to what can best be described as a god. It explains why he speaks the way he does, that he is "not a bug"- it's because he feels like one, and SRS' message only served to amplify this in his distraught state. To the Iterators, you have to remember that their perspective is different to ours. Mere cycles are but single moments to them. They aren't hours- they are the blink of an eye. I do not think FP meant to harm the Spearmaster, at least not out of ill intent, but rather because he simply did not have the time to wait to extract it carefully.
@@pezvonpezWait, I never imagined the idea of an Iterator getting literally buried after collapse - they’d still be alive, of course, but the Saint obviously wouldn’t be able to find them. They’d just have to live, not being able to see or hear or even think, for what feels like eternity, until they too have done their time in the sediments and finally meet the sea beneath…

five pebbles' reveal in saints campaign, from the missing part of chimney to the crushed remains of shaded is probably one of the best parts of a game I've ever experienced. it's only through truly understanding the world the game created that this whole thing came together, and it is a work of art
YES i hear so many little people talk about this but the visual storytelling is AMAZING from the chimney canopy reveal with the sound cue that sent shivers and fear down my spine, and then realizing shaded is completely crushed underneath, and then you realize, pebbles complete collapsed. this game is amazing.
I was listening to this in the background and I just thought "Man that sounds like a heart beat, imagine the song ends not with the heart beat but with the final few seconds being absolute sile-" And the heart beat stopped before I even finished the thought, absolutely terrifying and beautiful.
Aside from ascending and echoing, we know little to nothing of Saint’s conduct while he was physically alive. He’s an Echo before we even pick up the controller… Did he force-ascend anything that could ascend itself in true reality (before becoming forever trapped in Echo reality)? Were 5P and BSM force-ascended? What about all the other iterators? We will never know… But his endless sacrifice will earn every sentience to come after the truth behind their immortality, and perhaps insure he’s the last ever soul to be eternally trapped in-between existence and nonexistence.
As another person said, "The shepherd of souls does not follow his flock." Saint tried to ascend at the end of everything, only to be rejected by the void. It never wanted him.
I don’t think Saint is an echo. Saint is… something else. Echoes can’t move around like Saint can, can’t die, can’t even physically exist unless the person visiting them is attuned to their false cycle, and even then, it’s only a dream. Saint is an aberration, a person stuck in a constant spiral of sleep, waking, dying, living, surviving, and transcending. That’s why they can immediately meet echoes, and understand them, as well as the Iterators. So attuned to the ethereal plane, that dreams and reality are one in the same. Maybe Saint isn’t an echo, but a physical ghost of something that should have died.
When i got to this room, I didn't feel anything. I thought I'd be all emotional seeing ol' pebby like this, but it was just nothing. I felt vindicated in a way; this giant spiteful AI god is basicly dead, and after all his horrendous mistakes and passive-aggressive demeanor towards me, he's gotten what he finally deserves! Coming back to put him out of his misery is what truly broke me.
i was moreso disappointed honestly. wasn't sure exactly what i expected, but my first encounter with him let me down. mainly because the Silent Construct and in general the entirety of FC and Husk were absolutely gigantic and he was very far from any echo.
You know, the rain ambience in the background and the warmer colors in the artwork makes me imagine an alternate version of the Saint’s campaign where the world isn’t frozen over
He may have deserved the structure collapse, but he deserves a collapse like Moons. Her structure is atleast still (mostly) intact. Pebbles, though... his is riddled with the decayed remnants of his mistakes. Everywhere he looks, he's reminded of his horrible fate. He deserved a quick collapse, with his structure staying intact, not a slow crumble, his structure being eaten away by the rot...
this song makes me cry remembering everything that happened this world is not the same it changes at ''every'' campaing its freaking good the soundtracks im crying soo hard its bealtyfull i love this game man.
Jesus Christ this is so gut wrenching for so many reasons. The hardly noticible main motif along with almost a heartbeat like sound almost to give off the vibe of pebbles barley breathing but still alive. Still here. It’s still pebbles after all this time, but it isn’t. This honestly gives off the same vibe sparkling pendulum does
That's an example of how time goes by, and you cannot do anything about it, but just to remember about what you will never be able to repeat or take back, eventually, you will fade away with your memories and you will become the memory that will slowly fade away, never to be remembered ever again.
😭 God this reminds me of something I saw under another video, where Pebbles’ “I the reluctant gift, you the unknowing recipient” can be reversed in Saint’s campaign. The poor boi……...
OH MY GOD THE ART AND MUSIC…ASTOUNDING 😭😭💖💕. Hits so hard…sad Sundown :,). Aaaaughh oooaahh eee aa the feel I can’t 😭💝. The art is exceedingly sad too, poor Pebs :(. He deserves better 😭. Realizing now that vibing with him sorta follows the lesson taught with his story, that you don’t have to go through it alone. It’s blizzarding cold outside, and the once powerful god reduced to this fragile form sits huddled in his once brilliant superstructure, which has also been broken down to nothing but a rusty shelter from the storm. He’s alone, lonely, and doomed, but you can choose to rest with him. He doesn’t have to wait for death in the cold alone, and after learning his lesson he allows you to rest with him, realizing this. Perhaps he learned his lesson too late, but I think it’s sweet he accepts the company ❤.
Even he doesn't deserve this much... his structure collapsing? Yes, he would deserve that, but to have his structure slowly crumble, slowly being eaten by the rot, and not even being able to die? Just sitting there, barely functioning, not even able to make full sentences properly.. even Moons collapse wasn't this horrible.
They believe in salvation, in the apocalypse. They live for the future and destroy the present. And then they talk about heroes who only thought about simple things... forever.
