  • Buffy (Sophia Crawford) vs. Faith (Karen Sheperd) breaking glass in THIS YEARS GIRL. (btw-the cop getting shoved is me;)
    Some LIVING CONDITIONS bits.
Spike gets Hong Kong veteran Steve Tartalia to be his regular stunt double from HARSH LIGHT OF DAY on (after the other guys and even myself had been doubling Spike). Joss liked the look of his square jaw as it matched James better than the rest of us.
Plus, a little playful action between Buffy and Riley at the gym.

As someone who used to memorize and play out these fight scenes, I really appreciate seeing this. Great choreography, and the stunt doubles really put their all into it. I mean, they seriously endured all that stuff? The 'Harsh Light of Day' fight sequence between Buffy and Spike is one of my favourites of the entire show, and it's incredible to see it like this.

I just want to say, I've always loved the choreography from buffy seasons 1-4, I think they were quiet honestly some of the best i've ever seen. So much talent and fluidity. I watch these daily they even help as for as my work out sessions. I'm so glad to have found these! I've been looking for years

You honestly have no idea how much I appreciate this side of my favourite show you have let us see. The best part of Buffy was the amazing fight scenes, especially the Buffy/Spike one here. Ahhhh man all those years as a youngster I wanted to be SMG but alas it was actually Sophia I wanted to be. Who knew! Unsung heroes you guys are :D Much love x

Thanks. Last night I posted the Angel vs Riley fight, but I pulled it because the quality was so bad. Today I'm digitizing the original footage and I'll put it up soon.
Since die-hard fans have supported us through the ups and downs of the show I want to give them the best quality I can. So from here on I'll be going to the original tapes instead of just a copy of some other edit. I'll try to put something up every couple of weeks if I have time.
    Thanks again to everyone.

Season four is sooo good. In spite of the season's monster being a bore. The posters on "TV Without Pity" agreed about the lots outdoor filming uplifted the overall mood. It's the season with the most sunshine! Plus, there wasn't a dud episode out of 22.

Contrary to the hype, Sarah didn't have any martial arts skills when we started. Very gradually we got her to do some moves, but you could not linger on her or it would not look like what we came to know as "the Slayer."
She got better as the years went on and we could do more with her, but if you tried to do a long fight with just her you'd never make the day and it would look pretty weak. I think what we did by merging Sophia and Sarah gave us the kind of action Joss wanted for the show.

@Chanel Oberlin Why? Image, showbiz hype; hype to promote and puff up her image to the fans; and more importantly (to the actors and producers) it's called syndication, which equals residuals. Above all else, they want to protect the money coming in. It's all about money.

We've gotten some great feedback so far from the fans. It means a lot to know that we inspired some people out there. Sophia has had a big smile all day after reading the various comments.
I'll post some more in a few days or so. Thanks again.

Thanks for these. It is great to see all that went into the show behind the scenes. Without Sophia I don't think Buffy would have been such a kick ass character. It looks like she took quite the beating but kept on going! So awesome!

  • @JeffPruittstunts
    @JeffPruittstunts  11 лет назад +4

    Nope.
Season 1 Sophia was there but I wasn't. They were doing the usual (at that time) Hollywood TV method of making fights. You have the actors try to do nearly the entire fight and then segments with the stunt people. Season 1 is when Sarah did the most. That works for the old John Wayne style of fight, but not martial arts on TV. There isn't enough time on a tight schedule to do very much.
Joss told me I would only be able to do two or three moves each fight. hehe

To Imzeikycheiky: I don't know who removed your question but it wasn't me.
The question was: "Did Sarah do any of her own stunts?" The answer: No. Sophia did the fights and stunts and then I picked three spots to insert close-ups of Sarah staking or starting a movement. Plus, I had to choreograph moments for the dialogue inserts. This was the fastest method to get the maximum done and still look decent fight-wise. Wasn't enough time to do too much with Sarah and she didn't want to.

Love these. I hope bygones are bygones and that therefore your behind-the-scenes stunt footage can wind up on the Buffy BluRays when production of the BluRay versions gets underway. Truly I hope you and Sophia might be invited to do some commentary over the footage too. It's time.

I love this show so much! The only thing I can't stand looking at it now compared to then is who plays Spike's double. His hair is awful and he just never moved with the same fluid grace. I wish James Marsters could have done more of his own stunts! You did a fantastic job on this series though. S3 and 4 had the best fight scenes out of all 7 seasons.

I'm still watching buffy episodes but I always stop watching at the end of season 4 since the quality of the stunt changed so much from season 5 till the end and i couldn't help myself comparing the old buffy vs the new one. Cause i adore the way Buffy/Sophia fights and the stunt team.

I agree..I noticed that after season 4, the fight scenes were less detailed and fast pace....I think that contributed to she not being as good...Most people probably don't notice it though.

How many actors/actresses can tackle harder stunts themselves?
      Going off topic...
Most of the stunt doubles have aged since this show. If they are still performing stunts, it would be for older actors. This was shot slightly more than 2 decades ago I believe.
Angel and Spike have gained 20 lbs since then with an older face.
