Agree on Clayton. However, "Little Jazz" is and has been recognized as one of the greatest Trumpet players of all time. Dizzy said that he had to go through Eldridge to be as good as he was.
so many great trumpet me you don't hear about if you don't follow it closely - clayton, roy eldridge, oran 'hot lips' page, ray nance, rex stewart, cat anderson, and my all-time favorite, cootie williams. and that's just from two bands in the 30s and 40s.

That I call eduction,; its all important, Its great you publish the track , but I want to know who was playing. You are the next Generation I am 75
Intersting.. seen this clip many times over the years. And always read the others reactions as them being slightly bored with that performance.. you cant help comparing him to Hank Jones, obviously as you just heard Hank play.. to me Hank is far the better musician and jazz player.
@123must - (Buck/underrated) - True. Shad Collins, Emmett Berry, Joe Thomas could be mentioned, also ... and the legacy of Bix Beiderbecke is undiminished. ... Better, this is a GREAT example of Ben Webster in his later years.
Always found that Hank Jones is one of the most underrated players.. especially when you hear him vs Ahmed.. seems to me being one underrated vs one overrated.
This song always makes me feel cool. I only wish I was half as cool as the song!

Sorry you had the names hidden, so I take every thing back ,but it was Duke Ellington who wrote the tune. Why are the names hidden?
