The Inzamum ul Haq one is the best known, also one that isn't there is the Ian Botham leg over wicket, made famous by the commentary on Test Match Special.
They keep the straps loose because it lessens the impact if the ball hits you in the head, if the helmet is too tight you could probably get a concussion or worse, and also it's probably uncomfortable to have tight straps on your face.
When Jos Butler hit wicket today I was gutted. Such an historic fight back was just snatched away. So glad you guys are headed to the USA/Ireland match. I saw that coming up and wondered if you would connect with it. BTW while you guys have been coming to grips with the use of the word "batsman" the whole cricket world has come to the conclusion that "batter" is a better term. So centuries of tradition have given way, probably correctly, to the forces of equality. Now you have to get use to using "batter" when talking about cricket.
@@davidhemsworth4098 Yeh I keep hearing commentators correcting themselves. With the ever increasing popularity and competitiveness of women's cricket it probably makes sense.
@@RolandjHearn I remain unconvinced. The suffix 'man' doesn't exclusively refer to men - it refers to a person (think the german Mensch). Either way, the new term is better applied to a pancake mix.
@@davidhemsworth4098 I agree completely. I look forward to the day we speak of the huperson race. However, that ship is long sailed. I have learned across the years, however, that you rarely win these battles. When the result is inevitable and some people take personal worth out of one side or the other of a debate you gain more by siding with them. I am happy to talk of the "pancake mix" (great call) hitting a six if it will help some people to know I care more about them then I do terminology.
My favourites are ABD, KP and Inzamam. For a fat uncoordinated guy Inzamam was an incredible batsman. Imagine if he had ever got into shape. Might have averaged 70.
That Brett Lee to Adam Parore delivery was in about 2000/2001 in the era when Australia were so dominant and played so aggressively, look at the send off Brett Lee gives him, if aus did that now they’d be crucified by the media for poor conduct… That was also a controversial one because it was in the era when bouncers weren’t allowed in odis, that rule was changed not long after
Usually batsmen go back into the crease when they're suspecting a Yorker incoming so that they can convert it into a full length ball. Sometimes, they step a bit too far.
#7- The bowler is Paul Reiffel, a very capable all-rounder in his day and now a well respected umpire. He averaged just under 27 with the ball and 26.5 with the bat in 35 tests for Aus. Also played 92 ODI's taking 106 wickets at an average of 29.2. React to some of the more uncommon dismissals such as "handled the ball" or "obstructing the field"😁
What about the 'ALMOST HIT WICKET' from Buttler yesterday, where he twirled the bat in the air and lost control of it and it fell to the ground? On a really bad day that could have bounced off the ground and hit the wicket easy. What would Gabe have said to him (assuming Gabe was the coach) if he got himself out that way, given the position that England was in at the time.
OTDPlantagenet. That would not have been a "hit wicket", a hit wicket dismissal only applies if it happens whilst the batsman is playing or avoiding a delivery or in attempting a run (in between deliveries, hit wicket does not apply). Cheers!
always a pleasure to see both of u guys... u make my Tuesday a happy one thanks u
Thanks Dante. We appreciate it
“And he’s out for Sivin” - that’s the kiwi accent for you…
#2 Inzamman has many funny moments. Robelinda has a whole compilation of all of his run outs which are absolute comedy gold.
Would love to see ur reactions on the compilation of nutshots 😂...Gabe would be hilarious...waiting for it
Buttler has been out twice hit wicket by Jhye Richardson. He also did it in the BBL
That’s hilarious, had no idea. Obviously worried about his pace
Going full circle, the bowler in the Kallis dismissal, Paul Reiffel, was 3rd umpire in the Ashes test where Buttler did the same thing.

I don't want to be that guy, but Gabe, Bairstow's highest Test score is 167(not out) vs Sri Lanka in 2016. He faced 232 balls.

Jos is havin a rollercoaster of a tour. Took a brilliant catch then missed a dolly, played 209 ball n got hit wicket

I think it may have just been a particular committee of the MCC who came to that view haha
Seems to have been embraced by the punditry, though.

Nice cap looking Bradman
Has Gabe seen Ussie's dance moves on the field?

Yeah I agree. I personally love the send off but that is what I noticed right away. Savage
