Is that the ez vac from ACP? I was thinking about getting that, how do you like it? They recommended their vacuum generator system instead for me, so I could do larger parts like a car fender that’s 3.5ft tall 3.8ft wide. The ez vac might barely be able to do this bc it’s not flat they said, so I was wondering what your opinion is of the system.
Ez vac is handy and works, just very slow to pull down a large bag. Pretty sure it's a rebranded fish tank pump. Doesn't pull anything close to full vacuum but it does plenty hard enough to hold things together during cure. My process is often degass resin in a vac chamber hooked to a standard messy and loud oil-using pump that pulls a good strong vacuum, use the auto-vac to pull down the bag and squeeze out extra resin for a while then switch to the ez-vac for the rest of the cure cycle, lower vac level offers some benefit in this case some any remaining air pockets will leave smaller voids.
@@LindyDesignLab thanks so much for the reply! Do you think I could get away with buying the ez vac system, instead of the vacuum generator system? I’m hoping parts from the ez vac kit would work with the Amazon pump you have listed. Parts like hoses, fittings, bagging stuff. Because buying both, would be as much as the vacuum generator system anyways. I want to make sure I have the right fittings and stuff to start vacuuming with the other pump when needed. Anything other parts that you recommend purchasing with the Amazon pump and ez vac kits? Thanks again, it really helps! (Ulticarbon recommended acp’s bagging system but didn’t specify which one they recommended)
I noticed you seem to go pretty light w/the resin & it results in a beautiful open pore-type of look. Would this still be durable when exposed to the elements & keep that look?
For exposure to the elements I think you would want a UV protective clear coat. In a less demanding application like the mini holster in a more recent video, the sanded/exposed carbon has held up great, no signs of wear.
There's a video by ulticarbon using it to skin a console without a vacuum ruclips.net/video/snqU6VxJg8w/видео.html. For simple shapes you can wrap it tightly instead of vacuum. Next video on LDL will be forged fabric skinning a mask.
Hey, cool video. Not sure why you would spend the exorbitant amount on these premade sheets if you're infusing anyways... You can cut spread tow carbon and just use epoxy with it like normal carbon. It looks identical to this, and costs pennies comparitively. I like using spread tow as opposed to standard twill for the forged look because it leaves you with flatter thicker pieces in the pattern.
Imo their smc carbon is rather expensive, couldn't you just chop your own carbon and glass up to give it the forged carbon look and lay it on resin to give it the forged look?
Кто нибудь объясните ей, что такой карбон (рубленый) круто смотрится только если его обработать наждачной бумагой и покрыть лаком, чтобы он начал блестеть! А так от него нету толка.
Where can I find a girlfriend like you , wow you know how to work with composite materials real well I have a million ideas and projects running through my self isolating mind , this is a great material dreams are made of you can make car panels air craft parts anything but I don't know a thing about working with carbon fibre , I bought a sample of it and my mind is racing with ideas please make more videos so I can learn how to work woth this amazing stuff thank you all the best Trucker Kelly :)
Keep going Lindy, your videos are really good and it's only a matter of time before your channel takes off massively.
Can you tell me what type of resin you are using
Hi Lindy! As always, another great video! Thanks! Take care! Cheers from Argentina
how is the strength of the forged carbon , compared to normal chopped strand fibreglass, as I might try it in surf fins as it looks different.
My whole bike is carbon fiber but I’d love to forge carbon the whole thing.Cool video
这种碳纤维布支持跨国邮寄吗,中国大陆没见过这种材料
Hello!
Just a great results! Can You please tell me,what kind model of pump do You use? Thanks in advance!
Gosh I don't remember the exact type, sorry. Low budget one that uses oil. Messy but got the job done.
Nice and very helpful. Is there any way to get the forged corbon here in Australia, or possibly any links so that we could purchase them. Thanks
I'd be interested in seeing how it works in a compression mould instead of vacuum and resin infusion

Do you need a vacuum regulator for the Amazon pump?
OMG, I’m between this or Honey Comb on my Q50 Red sport for my Channel..
Thanks for showing this. Very helpful in my future decision!

Looking forwards to seeing what other projects you use this on next 👍
Would you recommend this fabric for hand laid application for something like a steering without a mold or vacuum?

Lindy Design Lab thanks. Looking forward to the video.
How to make bi fold flexible wallet with carbon fibre fabric
Have you ever used the chopped type?
Oh thank you this answered some questions about the last video, what* the bold would look like pieced together so as not to waste things...Thanks :)
