    Palworld feels like it broke the pokemon attachment curse for me. Is it perfect? No. Is it amazing? No. But the fact that all it takes to have this great pokemon experience that gives people all this joy is to hit the bare minimum for a video game says a lot about these pokemon games that aren't hitting the minimum. I'm not sure I'll be able to even bother with these anymore

      Sounds about right, just as it only takes `one bad day` to cause a massive shift in perspective. Having a new game that effectively flips off a big franchise by doing a genre they were too stingie to ever try ends up causing such a big splash that you KNOW that Pokemon is gonna have to make a spin off or make its next `mainline title` more focused around aspects similar to that.
      This is why Legends Arceus & Scarlet/Violet had the TROPES that Breath of the wild started with Paragliding, `real` open world and crafting, even if Scarlet/Violet instead of letting you craft tools out in the field, rather bastardize its TM system after it already made those things permanent in a previous title, just to force a crafting system in place.
      Which honestly would of been better if we `gathered materials`, and `turned them in` for points which would have better values depending on the level, its size and a few other factors and we used THOSE to get the majority of support items, including catching tools like bait and so on.
      Which is kind of a major shame that Scarlet/Violet`s DLC didnt try to push that approach by seeing the spin off that came before it and freaking banked on the extra months they would have to whip up some DLC to include those as additional features, since the only TWO things that came out of the DLC to drastically change your playthroughs are PERMANENT FLYING (which is lousy as far as im aware of) and the synchro machine (which is more of them just swapping who is the `controlled unit` and slapping a few commands on and thats about it).
      So really it doesnt matter if Pal`world dies off after all the freaking hype, its the impression it left that already let it do its impression and you know we are gonna get more monster taming games that will likely pull an Among Us, Slay the Spire and more and make thar own versions of that formula even if they are lazy and likely bully Pokemon even further into the ground to till they have to admit on releasing a spin off or make its next main title to focus on that or get screwed over if they dont REALLY innovate the games, especially after the flop that was scarlet/violet and how much many liked the aspects of legends arceus which had some of the things Palworld had, such as ACTUAL, FREAKING, CRAFTING TOOLS that HELPED WITH CATCHING.

    I don’t think it’ll be a Pokémon killer, but considering it’s still in early access and is already doing pretty well, I think that it has the potential to go a long way and stand on its own. A couple of content creators I watch have already been having fun with the game on its own merit, so perhaps Palworld sticking to improving its strong points will help evolve the game to become a respectable franchise.
    Basically, my view is that the Pokémon parody aspect draws players in, but its own gameplay and monster-player interactions is what will make players potentially stay. It’s best to view Palworld as Palworld rather than a Pokémon killer. At least, that’s my two cents. XD

    • @Mr.IndoorPants
      @Mr.IndoorPants 7 месяцев назад +3

      Agreed. I definitely think it’s safe to say that it’s not a “Pokémon killer” because that is practically impossible to do. I also think that it’s too early to make predictions about how far this franchise can/will go.
      I think/hope it’s going to force the Pokémon company to innovate.
      Given that the last mainline Pokémon game was the fastest selling at launch and ended up falling very short of sword and shield (tapering off quickly when people realized that it was a broken mess that was missing features) I think this next game will be a lot slower to sell and probably won’t have as crazy numbers unless we see some major improvements.
      I don’t think it’s palworld that will put a dent in Pokémon game sales. I think TPC is doing that themselves. However, the more good alternatives we have for people to play, the more willing people will be to wait for a Pokémon game that meets their standards and the more they will demand out of the Pokémon company.

      @SoulStoryMode  7 месяцев назад +2

      $70 is bold, I can agree with that for sure,
      but a completely brand new story, new and fun mechanics that shouldn’t even technically work on a Nintendo switch that changes up the gameplay entirely, over a hundred new shrines all with original puzzles, a re-done overworld with the addition of an entire underground the same size as the original map, on top of touched up graphics and assets…
      I just can’t agree that TOTK is a glorified DLC 😭

    • @rockowlgamer631
      @rockowlgamer631 7 месяцев назад +1

      The story wasn't as great with how you receive the memories it would've been better if Link had gone back in time with Zelda and she was a companion where you stop Ganondorf right then and there, saving Sonia from dying, preventing Rauru from sacrificing himself AND be able to prevent millennials worth of damage to Hyrule.
      Plus they push the Zonai in our face but barely gave us any lore about them as well as removing Sheika tech so that way "you didn't have to play BotW" to play TotK, I say nonsense.
      I will take Majora's Mask which allows me to BECOME the different races, endure harsh dungeons, cry at the stories, and everything else over some new fangled mechanics that I could care less about.
      That's what Nintendo is missing they worry about gameplay first and unfortunately story writing suffers since they don't put much effort into that depending on the game, hell Twilight Princess and Spirit Tracks are better in that regard.@@SoulStoryMode

    The nuanced appeal of Palworld transcends the notion of merely being a superior alternative to Pokémon. Instead, it strategically addresses an untapped space in the PC and console market that Game Freak may be unable, or contractually bound, to explore. The evident success of Palworld underscores the untapped potential for Pokémon to thrive on PC, exposing a void that has long gone unaddressed.
    Palworld caters to the desires of a discerning audience, presenting an engaging experience that Pokémon has yet to capitalize on. While aspects of the game, such as its survival mechanics and creature-catching mechanics reminiscent of Pokémon Arceus, may draw parallels, Palworld introduces a fresh perspective. Arceus, restrained by the limitations of its platform, could have ventured further with the support of a more powerful console.
    The contractual ties between Pokémon and Nintendo, while longstanding, inadvertently alienate a considerable player base. The exclusivity to Nintendo devices leaves a significant portion of players desiring a PC gaming experience. As one such player, Palworld has fulfilled my expectations, offering a compelling alternative. While it may not usurp Pokémon's legacy, it serves as a noteworthy reminder that the industry giant should pay heed to evolving player preferences and market dynamics. The game's enduring impact may not be an outright 'Pokémon killer,' but it certainly prompts a valuable introspection for the Pokémon franchise

  • @BlackIce4047
    @BlackIce4047 7 месяцев назад

    The thing I want most to come out of this whole situation is the improvement of the Pokemon franchise. Hopefully Palworld hits The Pokemon Company with a wake-up slap and shows them that even a relatively unknown entity can be very successful if they make a halfway decent game. Imagine what they could do if they applied the effort and polish that an empire like Pokemon deserves! While we patiently wait for that to happen, Palworld is kinda fun to play in the meantime.

    Totally agree, resource gathering games in general really don't interest me much. The closest thing I've ever played is Subnautica and I just did the bare minimum to get from point a to point b, even looking up speedrun strats for the deepest areas because I didn't feel like crafting the extra depth modules and the machine you need just to make them. Would be nice if they interwove the story through the lore like they did in Subnautica because I do really like the catching and battle mechanics for palworld, I just need some larger goal to work towards that feels more concrete than simple resource accumulation and base building

    Never been a fan of these types of games and I also think by June this game will fade away. Other than dealing with the annoyance, TPC is going to continue releasing unfinished trash after unfinished trash. Right now, Palworld is like AEW is to WWE. WWE been ass for a very long time and people thought AEW would push Vince (now TKO) to make the product as good as it was in the 80s (Golden era) and late 90s (attitude era). Pokemon is WWE in this case, it's too big to fail. Anything short of everyone in TPC, GF being baby rapers is not going to bring down the franchise.

    Digimon literally let you evovle your monsters and they got pretty big. I mean i still see digimon. Palworld might be able to get to their level if they do more than a game. They aren't tho. Jus like any other game like this it'll jus be there that's all. Mmorpg games work better than survival. A pokemon game like final fantasy 14 world work out better than a survival game.

      Palworld will have PvP later down the line according to their road map along with extra islands.
      They also already released an update I think this week (I downloaded it today) addressing some issues.
      While I do agree that there isn’t a story in Palworld specifically, comparing it to Pokemon (which for most of the games outside of SV, Gen 5 and SM don’t have a huge story) is not a very compelling argument. There are other games that literally make the story in Pokemon seem like a joke in terms of complexity.

Pokemon is still being made using the game design from the Game Boy era, which doesn't click with people anymore.

However the main battle and open world is what people want in a pokemon game. How the F an indie game able to have a more stable game compare to a bilion dolar franchise. We can forgave gamefreak when they make game for portable devices as gba,nds and 3ds. However nintendo switch is much capable device. Zelda could run good with much better graphic, why pokemon cannot do the same?. Pokemon rn have bored storyline, a minimal gameplay, hand holding difficulties and many more negative. Quite frankly I think this is a game of the moment, hot right now but in a few months barely anyone will talk about it. At this point i'm honestly tiring of hearing about it. And I think it lacks an identity, it's basically ARK with a bit of Pokemon and Zelda thrown in.

    Pokemon could do somethin special. Get rid of the fluff for one game. Make it darker. Sv was a woke game. Male and female should be clear. Take a different approach. Maybe instead of bein a kid we are older and steal a pokeball from a damily memeber. Stumble outside. See some "starters" chuck the ball catch one and jus start our adventure. And we start to meet ppl and build a name for ourselves as we move along. Maybe half way through the game a professor pops up and ask you about your "starter" cause one of them was missin and theyve heard about you since you started to build a name for yaself. Open pokemon up. Palworld is ok but its not a competition for pokemon. Everyone is goin to still buy pokemon goin forwards. Palworld is empty. The ppl hyping it up are jus upset at pokemon.
