    If Commodore had put half the effort you've put forth to preserve the Amiga Doc, they would still be in business.

    Great Job, Chris! A job well done...once again. Keep Amiga alive, it's worth it!

    As always, there is more to learn on your channel. I have the foil as well, but your technique of re-creating the pads is outstanding! Thank you!

    Another excellent repair! And it is the vastly superior NTSC that has been saved!

    At last! A straight forward fix. Relative to some of the previous epics.

    Another Amiga back in action. Hopefully the vacuum still works - no roaring in the background in this video. Gotta keep the carpets clean.

    If your not fixing these on our side of the great pond who is? After all the original Amiga's are fixed you'll eventually be transferring components to re-Amiga's. Keep up the great work.

    It's dead easy to convert an A500 keyboard to work on an A1200. All you need is a membrane and a Dremel. Just dremel out a cut out for the membrane and pop it in.

      My 500 has a plug , its ribbon to the board of the kb is too short , well shorter than the 1200s membrane. I would need a new membrane w a ribbon for the 1200 to do so

    Whilst hunting unsuccessfully in the garage for my 2nd tote of A3K parts, I happened upon my A1200HD , it boot's so, I guess Ima keep its keyboard installed. (though I think the video out colors are starting to drift)

      color can be recap or a blown ceramic emi filter caps on the back bottom near the rgb port, 4 red 4 green 4 blue e5xx something.

    I really like 1200 and 600 repairs as the boards are small and clean. Watching repairs I mean. I can't repair anything. Just ask my ex-wife.

    Where do you buy the sheet of "metal" that you made the pad from? Sorry for noob question :)

    • @ChrisEdwardsRestoration
      @ChrisEdwardsRestoration  3 месяца назад +1

      its metal foil tape from amazon, I used UV Epoxy to stick it to the board. i put some down, and stuck the foil inside the goop. once cured it cracks off the top of the metal then you have a new pad, i did have to wire the pad of course but as you can see it works great.

    What temperatures do you recommend in using a soldering station? 350C is OK. I have a recap kit that is sitting for a few years now and maybe its the time to recap. Do the A1200 Caps get bad or this is a precaution? I heard that most issues with A1200 Caps are Audio related. Thanks for the great video.

    • @ChrisEdwardsRestoration
      @ChrisEdwardsRestoration  3 месяца назад +1

      I run about 550-700f. Whatever that is in metric. Caps go bad w age. Leak abd can cause all sorts of issues not only audio but video

    • @antiriad
      @antiriad 3 месяца назад

      Do they fail hard or soft? By hard failure I mean leaking on the motherboard cause trace damage. Soft is when they look physically ok.

    • @ChrisEdwardsRestoration
      @ChrisEdwardsRestoration  3 месяца назад +2

      @antiriad leaks cause issues w acid eating stuff. Drying out turns them into solid resistors literally frying the circuit or chips by grounding the line out
