My center vents stopped working on my 1990 R129 SL, whilst yours is a different module to mine the basics are the same, Mr Mercedes told me there is nothing that can be done you cannot get inside the unit, watching this video gives a ray of hope , Many thanks from Cheshire UK

Well, this DEFINITELY worked for me. It’s June 2024, I’m living in Germany on business. Bought a 1997 E230 with an A/C control knob problem. Found this video. Followed steps, and now my control knob works as designed !! 🫡👊🏼

My C36 climate control only worked to blow into the dash vents. Thanks to this video, I pulled it apart, and found that someone had fitted it with a secondhand unit - it had the wrecker's label on it. When they replaced it, they failed to dock those two small tubes at the rear. Did that, and everything worked as the factory intended.

hi , you just need to spray any contact cleaner (WD40) in the potentiometer and rotate it quickly many times, and it will be fixed it immediately.

The video shows that the switching of the blowing speeds after your repair occurs with a delay (this should not be so). I had the same problem with blowing speed, cleaning the resistor with alcohol helped me.
Even better is to replace the potentiometer!

i've similar problem, my climate control doesn't blow even at first position, can i re-solder like you did on this video to fix my climate control problem ?
( i have done test my blower and resistor, both working properly )
Open your climate control module and test if your potentiometer is giving right values or is giving values at all. If it is not then you need to solder in a new potentiometer.

what a measuring unit of giving value on each position ? is ohm or voltage ?
Just check if it is giving any value! Potentiometer will give a scale of values.. Not only 5 of them. If youre having a problem using multimeter, check youtube on how to test potentiometer. Good luck!

Just a very good engine! It is a w210 with om606 turbo engine.

How do remove the potentiometer?
There is a white pin on each side, you have to remove those pins to free the front lid. Once you have removed the front lid, just unsolder it from the board and lookup internet for new replacement part.
It's a common problem as you say, I have 3 SLK,same problem all 3. Mercedes quality.....
All cars that have been in our hands have had this problem.. best to solder in a new potenciometer.

Then you probably need to replace the potentiometer.
