I think what Book said is overlooked. The fact him and The Rock never worked a house show AND put on that Summerslam match speaks volumes to their chemistry. That match was THE main event of the card, even though it technically was Angle v. Austin.

Booker is so underrated and so under appreciated!! That mans style is one of a kind, every move Booker does seems like He himself created. Tremendous mic work, amazing Charisma. Could play any character and work with anybody. And on top of that, he’s a gem on commentary.

That Summerslam match was a lot better than Booker remembers. It was about as a perfect as a match between those 2 could get.
And also the only match in wrestling history to feature the 3 black WCW champions: Booker, The Rock, and a run-in by Ron Simmons as Faarooq chasing Shane.

We all know booker t was one of the best, and underrated wrestlers of all time in any company. Should have had way more title runs, or at least longer title runs. Could've have held any belt and wouldn't have looked questionable on him. Haters going to say what ever, but few men carry the mic as well as booker t also. Booker t gonna always be seen as a legend.

It did tell a good story but it's overshadowed by the build up and the I Quit Match on that same Judgement Day PPV. Also, it felt odd for Booker to win the bloodfeud with counter pin to the Angle Slam.

It kinda hurt Book losing 3 straight pay per views to Rock and Undertaker, Rock at Summerslam and Unforgiven, Undertaker at No mercy. I understand a little why he lost to Rock both times since the WCW title was on the line and they needed 1 title on team WWE, but he should've beat Undertaker even by disqualification. WWE didn't book him properly ( no pund intended ). Book should've been facing Austin at Wrestlemania 18.

    • @The810kid

Book started out hot when he first appeared and slammed Austin through a table and his initial match with Rock was real good. They never really knew what to do with Book to utilize his full potential he was so over when they turned him face in 02. They should have pushed him as a top baby face along with RVD.

I wished Booker won the Summerslam match. Booker's summer of 2001 was great. After Summerslam, he was made into a joke. Getting beat up in the supermarket by Austin. Wishy washy tag run with Test. Feuding over a shampoo commercial with Edge. Being nWo's stooge. Parody tag team with Goldust.
Glad to see the character change with KINNNG BOOKAH in 2006. Well deserved WHC reign. You put that work in late 05 with the US title feud with Benoit to kick it off. I smelled a heel turn coming but it was done very well. Predictable done RIGHT.

I gotta agree with Booker t on this one in wcw Booker t at one time objectively speaking was the single best worker in the entire business I’d say 98/99 Shawn Michaels and Bret hart included….classic matches with Benoit … Bret …Finlay…. Etc as a fan it’s kind of disappointing that Wwe watered down his in ring style and made him strictly a entertainer which he was very good at as well just a shame that people who didn’t watch wcw don’t know just how good he was in between the ropes

A lot of people assume that when the WCW talent came over that there was a lot of heat amongst the boys and girls in the locker room, nothing could be further from the truth. A lot of the WWE's top stars wanted some talent to come over so that they could get some fresh matches with people that they never got to work with along with some fresh storylines. If Sting had not chosen to burry himself over a comment that The Rock made to everyone, we could have had Undertaker VS Sting for a few months.

Considering they didn’t work together much, the Summerslam match was great. One of Rock’s best imho. I remember being a bit disappointed at Book dropping the title, despite being a massive Rock mark at the time.
It’s not too late to do something again though. Everyone keeps saying Dwayne should get involved with the Bloodline angle, but how about Booker gets involved? He did have a hand in training the Usos back in the day afterall.
Check it out. Book cuts a promo on the Usos saying how disappointed he is that they disrespected the guys who put them on. He knows how Roman feels to be dissed by the guys he nurtured and mentored and brought into the Island of Relevancy. Then Rock comes out and says Roman has forgotten who paved the way for their family back when he was just a kid.
Booker, Roman, Solo vs The Usos and The Rock @ Survivor Series!
    Book it WWE!

Booker T and The Rock had a pretty good feud in my opinion. It lasted 2-3 months, the matches were all good, and it led to Rock/Jericho and Booker teaming with Test (and Shane McMahon) which was an underappreciated angle in my opinion. It should be noted that Rock didn't really work many house shows during this period of his career. He worked both Raw and Smackdown every week, and occasional house shows, but his opponents were all pretty random according to Cagematch (Rock/Austin teaming up against Angle/Jericho sounds INCREDIBLE btw). I think Booker T is being too hard on his Summerslam 2001 match. It was good, but at the same time, this was an era where cards were STACKED, and he's probably remembering Austin/Angle, Edge/Storm, BoD/DDP&Kanyon, and RVD/Hardy.
Booker T generally had the better if not best matches on WCW cards, and I wonder how he felt getting to WWE and having to follow the likes of Edge, Christian, Jericho, Rock, Austin, Angle, Benoit, Undertaker, and the list goes on and on. I know Randy Orton has made jokes over the years about having to follow Shawn Michaels so many times, and how he'd just get deflated watching Shawn's matches steal the show, and him come back to gorilla and shout "Top that!" Wrestling is something else lol.
As for Booker T being more of an entertainer in WWE than wrestler, I don't totally disagree, but I also think that just proves how stacked WWE's roster was at the time. Booker T had some incredible matches with Angle, Benoit, Guerrero, Jericho, Christian, and Triple H, but his matches with John Cena, Batista, and Undertaker shouldn't be forgotten. There's also Rey Mysterio, and NOBODY has bad matches with Mysterio. I don't think anyone doubts that Booker T could go in WWE, but ultimately I think his spinneroonie, promos, and character work will be what he's most remembered for. The guy's HILARIOUS, and people treasure things that make them laugh. That's one reason why Booker T and Goldust will go down as one of the greatest tag-teams ever, and one of the best runs from either guy.
