I never really had a problem with mine... except for the fact that he falls over every time I even slightly bump my desk. I never found Crosscut but I want one. I had always planned to display them in the different configurations with one only having 1 gun and the other splitting the guns and having all his hidden weapons out. That just seems like the best way to display them so that there's more of a difference between the two characters other than just color. I really love molds that can do that. No remolding, except for the new head, just an alternate transformation and you can't even tell they share the same mold. You'd have to really know the figures to realize they are the same but looking at them on a shelf side by side and if you didn't know that about them you'd never guess.
TheSupremeStriker Kind of. You really have to transform them that way. They also used that mold for Punch/Counterpunch but his fists end up being backwards in one mode. With those two I think the fists were swapped around so they wouldn't end up being backwards. I kind of wish they pulled that trick when they made CW Mirage. The front of the vehicle mode is suppose to end up on his chest. Because of the hands he ends up having the take the same configuration as Dragstrip. Also Generations Tracks and Wheeljack can do this. Slightly different shoulders and different legs. It also helps that the over the shoulder weapons are on individual hinges. This allows Wheeljack to have one shoulder mounted weapon while Tracks has two. And Wheeljack got different accessories. It's only the transformation that has changed they both still use the same mold. Only his head and the new weapon are actually new parts.
Excellent review because now I will be picking this guy up as my first Skids mold. I'm wondering if Takara will do the same thing for Crosscut by just adding more shinier paint or something.
Skids wasnt a van in g1. he was a Honda City Turbo, a subcompact. the minivan thing is a common misconception due to american attitudes towards automobiles in the 80s.
I loooove how this version looks, the energy lines and the darker blue help quite a bit! But, is the Autobot symbol supposed to be off-center? I can't take my eyes off of that.
The hips wouldn't be a problem, as they caught on to the assembly error in the middle of the Generations run I believe. (and that just prevented the hips from swinging forward) The problem is he's got virtually no heels and a sizeable backpack.
Like I said in my Review of this Mould his Feet are his fatal flaw, why is the Ball Joint at the very back of the foot , it should be in the Middle so he can balance. Great Review TJ, I am perfectly Happy with my Generations Skids and Crosscut so I can pass on this, he does look good though
RodimusMinor1987 The ball joint is at the back to replicate the "giant feet" effect the actual IDW Skids has. Putting it in the middle would negate that effect.
Not usually a big collector of the toys, but I'm a massive fan of IDW Skids, so I've been eying this toy for a while. I never saw the Hasbro version in stores when it came out (I don't think it was even released in my country) and was a little disappointed that I couldn't get it as a result. However, I've since heard about the issues and been skeptical if it's worth it. Glad to hear this versions got it all sorted out, plus the colour scheme is closer to the comics which is a plus. I might investigate further.

Like universe sunstreaker/sideswipe?

also, if you fiddle around with the altmode a bit, you can give him ridiculous aa guns.
Apparently, according to IDW, the smaller hand-held gun is a Nudge gun.
Just bought this off Ebay thanks for this video i had no instructions lol
Now all we need is a Decepticon that uses this mold as a base... And keeps the gun spam, of course.
Looks like an FoC figure because of the Energon Glow...
not really though...
Dude, it TOTALLY does... Heck IDW basically USES FoC designs for their comics and them make new ones!
If the legs don't go back at the hips, it means that the sockets are on the wrong legs, just like with the Hasbro version.
They're not supposed to go back at the hip. If they were on the wrong sides, they wouldn't be able to go forward at the hip.
Captain Modesty That's how they're supposed to be. The misassembly was that the hips were swapped so they couldn't move forward.
Welcome to the gun show! :D
Why does he have pink? I see no one saying anything about it
He said it in the video, it's to make it look closer to the design he has in the idw comics

um thats not always the case they probably will if they run out of figures to do...
+Jetfire48 Eh. I would be surprised if Crosscut did get a Legend figure. The only difference I would see is extra paint apps and shinier silver.
I have crosscut and the only issue I have is the ankle Joints, and unless I'm wrong it looks the ball itself is a separate piece of plastic
Skids wasnt a van in g1. he was a Honda City Turbo, a subcompact. the minivan thing is a common misconception due to american attitudes towards automobiles in the 80s.
Also people seem to mentally retcon him into always being a van cuz he was in Alternators.
Can't fault kids for not knowing the Honda City Turbo though, considering it wasn't released in the US as far as I know right?
Also kids don't care what the actual vehicle is. It is either a car, truck, or van.
No he was actually a Honda city for reasons I can't remember
Given the attendant scale issues which were a consistent feature of G1 media, he was probably written off as a badly drawn minivan
does he have no heels? He looks like he keeps wanting to fall backwards. He look's great though
Zucchina He has no heels and falls over a LOT.
i want either this version or crosscut
The blue on the takara colors honestly does so much more for me than the light blue of the hasn't version....
My Gen Skids is tight but my Gen Crosscut has loose joints.
Honestly Florida weather is terrible, one second it could be sunny and the next it's a downpour.
i must have really lucked out with my generations skidz and crosscut, both of thier joint tolerences were fine
Nice figure
what kind of real life car could this be compared to
I loooove how this version looks, the energy lines and the darker blue help quite a bit!
But, is the Autobot symbol supposed to be off-center? I can't take my eyes off of that.
Unless I'm mistaken, that's how it was on the original Skids.
Gustavo Barrios It is. His original toy had it that way. It's also drawn that way in the IDW comics.
if he has trouble standing his hips may be swapped i know that was a problem on the original molds
so pop the of and swap them and he should be ok

d.va anybody?
its just you cause thus design has existed for years over watch not so much XD
Skids came waaaaay before D.Va lmao.
+M. Bison yeah plus this design of skids is a little old
Now that I look at it, D.va looks nothing like Skids.
Only similarity is the gun spam, dude. :v
Pretty nice figure. I do like this much better than the G1. Well done review!

Doesn't help his balance though
Indeed it doesn't.
Holy cow, he's a gun battery with feet! HE'S ROBO-VIN DIESEL!

I got crosscut. his joints are okay, but man his paint job bothers me in vehicle mode.
looking forward to the titans returns series?
tj how has your town done with the tropical storm, mine had 3 tornados
Shame about your Crosscut, mine turned out great. Just goes to show how hit and miss the QC was on these guys.
it surprises me how you're under 30k subs
