The "real" registers are 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Kaba is not technically a register, but a combination of the 1st and 2nd registers. The 1st register is weak on a kaval. Experienced players can combine the harmonics from the 2nd register with the 1st to give more volume and it's unique sound. This video is an example of players with very powerful kaba "chops". Search google with "snider kaval" for some good info.

I m learning to play the Kaval and the fact that you are saying the first register is very weak, gives me hope ;) as it’s very weak for me as well ( I m not able to go all the way down yet) So, following your point, what is the starting point of the kava register, the second register with more resonant sound to get the first register, or the other way around, starting on the first and try to get the second at the same time?? Thank you
the bulgarian kaval is one of the most unique wood wind instruments that exists, and i own one and i gotta tell you that it's REALLY hard to learn how to make them sound at all, let alone like this, you are listening to the fruit of probably man-years of practise
Kaba ("Каба") means low. Yes, it's the name of the lowest register. I'm not sure the others have a specific name like "medium" or "high". Kaba is known as the most difficult register of these kind of long open end flutes like the bulgarian kaval.

My sources tell me that the kaval players are Stoyan Stoilow with Shtiliyan Tihow and Krasimir ( but not sure of his family name)
