I never had healthy , long or voluminous hair until I went natural. I am so excited to share this experience and can't wait to see what's to come! Barbra life in the trailer park im 13ive been natural for about a year and a half and im almost at shoulder length. What really grew out my hair is old school products like blue magic hair grease and ors with no heat and I have 4b/c hair
i'm 13 too and i've been natural since I was 6 but only started really taking care of my hair 6 months ago my hair is collar bone length and 4b/c I feel like my hair grows slowly but I really don't care I just let it do its thing

Thank u for you honesty and transparency and genuineness Especially when u talked bout not feeling the cutest when you had ur hair real short. Alot of these RUclips girls be cutting the hair real short and skip over it like it nothing, when i reality 4 alot girls that go natural feel like that after big chop.

when i was in 5th grade i decided to cut my hair and i cried every day because i felt like i had made such a horrible decision . my hair was short and hard to maintain so i gave up on myself and didnt do anything to it unless my mom told me to . my hair was such a big part of my life . going threw middle school was torture because so many people would judge me and for some reason i cared . Now being in the 8th grade my hair is healthy and long and has shown me that patience is all it takes watching this videi has really shown me that im not alone that people went threw the same as me . just wanted to say thank you for sharing your story 🙂

this is giving me so much hope...im 14 and i'v tried to transition 4 different times...My mama thinks curly hair is just so ugly and unmanageable so every time my hair grows i she forces on more perms and "softeners". Im thinking if just cutting my hair on my own- its transitioned so much so i would probably have a small fro...im just so lost rn please let me know what i should do..
Strawberry Baby don’t let your mom impose those thoughts on you! This is your hair. The small fro will grow . Hair grows. You got this. Follow YOUR intuition
I was in the same situation. My mother lovedddd perming her hair and so did her mother (my grandmother) but after experiencing so much damage I was able to talk her into going natural. She definitely wasn't for it for my hair but eventually I just cut it after transitioning. She was upset at first but then my hair started flourishing and she eventually gave into letting me cut hers, now we're both afro-ing it up. And her hair has grown more than it ever did permed. As for my grandmother, she would never go natural because she's stuck in her old ways and had such a warped mindset. She would tell me "how are you going to feel when all your friends and other girls out there has long hair?" and I just started showing her on youtube all the naturalistas with length and how they would blow out their hair or straighten it and it was as if she'd never seen it before. She accepted my decision. It's your hair and you know it better than anyone. You can always sit her down and have a real conversation with her.
I would say keep pushing to go natural. Keep expressing that you really want it. If she doesnt listen, just do it. Cut your hair.
Note that you wont get any help from her, so when it gets tough youre probably going to have to buy your own products, do your own hair.. etc (unless your mom is a decent human being, just think of these things in moderation).
My mom actually forced me to go natural just around your age; it was against my will and she was peer pressured long story 🤣 she is not a fan of natural hair (she only wears wigs until her hair is long enough to perm, and if its not bone straight, she dont want it). She also went natural around the same time and she keeps telling me to reperm my hair. Like, I cut it off because i had no choice, and now you want me to go back to thinn, damaged hair.. ok. She has no idea how to take of her hair nor mine, so this past year ive been learning to FINALLY take care of it. Its NOT easy!! But its not unmanageable.

I cut my hair 2 months ago because I had dead ends because of all the perms I got and I cut it shorter than yours and I'm only 10 because I wanted to start over and it worked my hair is growing wildly because all the oil and moisturizer

See I cut my hair like a week ago...My mom tells me I’m too young but I’ve been transitioning my hair from flat-ironing my hair for 2 years everyday to tryna get my curls back...I just couldn’t transition no more so I cut it...but I feel like cutting it now is the best time to cut it so I don’t have to do it later in life cuz I knew I would someday.. what do y’all think. I got my haircut in 2016 yet it's still not growing back..and here's the thing the lady that cut my hair didn't have my permission she just got jealous of my long hair and she cut it all off....I wish I can go natural but I can't I just can't...my hair isn't growing back I don't know how to make it grow back ...
Try aloe Vera or rice water then when it starts growing more you could do some protective styles and let it transition for a while but it takes a long time.

This how I became natural. I realized that I didn’t have to perm to have straight hair. Now I don’t even do straightening anymore. Black hair is magical.
I would still have a curly hair by like arm length if my mom didnt perm my hair . But now I cut alot of my heat damage and now my hair is short and still transitioning heheh

It's your hair do not worry about other opinion.I am in the 7th grade I cut mine.They talk about they call me lil fro but when my hair get longer they still gonna be hating.You should do if you regret it then wear protective styles or braids until you can do a simple style,like she did
