    Thanks Neel that was an extremely interesting case. The work you do for these poor people is truly marvellous and what a gifted guy you are. I've must of been watching you for 3 years or more now and seen your technique change for the better and working so well with your new inventions improving the tools. I've seen you on the telly but more people should know about your work and how you change people's lives so much for the better. Well done your a champ !❤

    It never ceases to amaze me how different (and painful) each keratosis obturans ear canal looks. I’m glad people have a “go-to” audiologist to have it treated with their comfort in mind. It has to be anxiety causing to be in pain and have to let someone poke in it with no anesthesia. To be recommend by other audiologist is a testament to your skill and humanity.

    Hello there, my name is Demetrius. I am applying to graduate school to become a licensed SLP here in California. I really appreciate your videos. They are very educational. I was wondering if you knew the rate in which it takes for oxidation to occur? When you display the results of the removal of earwax on the table, does it immediately begin to blacken, or does it take much longer?

    • @viviennejordan215
      @viviennejordan215 Год назад +1

      Hi Demetrius, I think it can take about 10 months to go really dark in colour, but there are always exceptions to the rule. Saying that, I remember a Lady who hadn't had Her earwax removed for 30 years. The wax was quite a lightish color, even at the eardrum, where in theory, that should have bn there the longest. I saw a teenager whose wax was very dark, for not that many months.

    • @viviennejordan215
      @viviennejordan215 Год назад +1

      With the Endoscope being used, the light is very bright in the ear, making wax look a very light color. When it's removed, it's the true color of the wax. I used to ask the same question, why the color changed, lol! Have a good evng and week ahead.

      Hey Vivienne! Thank you for the explanation. I was really curious about it lol. SLP stands for Speech Language Pathologist, the counterpart to an audiologist. Wow, nicely done. That was a lot of oedema, even for keratosis obturans - no wonder the patient was in so much pain! I'm glad you were able to resolve the pressure issue, and I'm sure if any remaining keratin needs to be removed it will be much simpler and less painful when things have settled down.

    Would a good analogy be it’s like building a rubber band ball but instead of adding the bands to the outside of the ball they are being added to the centre of the ball. If this is in a confined space the ball will add pressure to whatever is surrounding it. In this case the ear canal. Not sure I’ve explained it very well so hope you can understand what I mean.
    Very interesting video, I could almost feel the patients relief when you removed all of that from their ear.

    Thank you Dr. Raithatha!!! I’ve been complaining about pain in my ears for about two and half to 3 years now. I’m always told that my ears are clear. If it is windy day this is when the issue starts…I feel a sharp pressure and pain…low base noises “brown noise” sometimes eases that pressure, but the everyday normal noises or high pitched noises make it worse. Recently I have been having fragmented blackouts when this pain occurs, ten seconds or so. I’d this something I should be concerned enough to ask for a referral to an audiologist or ENT?

    • @viviennejordan215

Not everybody is ambidextrous, and find using it hard, so Neel invented the WaxScope. He also has other manual tools being manufactured, so is extremely busy, what with working in the clinic and everything else. No patient in these videos is numbed or asleep. In the uk audiologists like Neel aren't licensed to provide medication. That is why he moves slow and steady and so delicate. If it is too painful for the patient they can see an ENT who can use localized anesthetic or put the patient to sleep
