Joe, I watch nearly all of your video's and enjoy very much. I'm 80, and remember my Father typing on his Underwood into the wee hours! He was born April, 1897 in Germany; speaking German very fluent. About 6-years ago, I started buying typewriters from thrift stores, eBay, etc. Initially I purchased only electric as I was afraid of all the mechanically problems associated with non-electric mechanical typewriters. 2-years ago, I purchased my first; a Smith Corona super silent 5-series. I'm hooked now and have a large collection (hate to say how many!). I finally watched your video on the "VOSS Deluxe" and said to myself; "I got to buy this machine!". I bid on one on eBay and was to late to update and lost out; it sold for $312.00. I found another for $550.00 and offered $500.00. My offer was accepted and now I'm the proud owner and love it! I got the case also. It looks as nice as the one in you video. Now I need to start selling my Hermes Media 3 (2), Brother's, Smith Corona(s), Royal(s), Swintec, Silver-Reed, etc. So I want to thank you for prompting me to purchase the typewriter I've been looking with German quality & precision. I have a Smith Corona late 60's vintage Super Sterling. I want to sell it, but the 'Ribbons' do not turn when you type! I took it to a Repair shop, and they could not repair? Any clues? Again, thanks for your RUclips Video's.

Tell Kevin he is awesome, and I'm so happy he makes multiple appearances on thr channel! He does a great job and is very well spoken. Both of you together are such a delight to watch and listen to as you interact with each other!

I have this same exact typewriter. It belonged to my mother. It hasn't been used since she passed away in 1992.

Oh wow, Joe reviews a Voss! I’ve always thought these machines were highly attractive with their unique sort of styling and curvy design. Really glad to see the typewriter series continuing despite the “downsize” in your collection Joe. Hope everyone is well out there, and stay safe all!

I am pretty sure that buying one of these in the 1950s was an extremely expensive option. The prices today seem expensive, but it's the cheap price of basic computers that make us think so. You forgot to mention that it's a relatively quiet machine to use, but every other comment I agree with. Seeing such appreciation and admiration of this beautiful machine is heart-warming and also, in itself, beautiful to see. Thanks.

What a lovely, amazing machine! Thanks, you two, for the review. And I enjoyed seeing the typewriter and the typewriter cases on the table in the background.

Thank you for presenting the Voss as an option to consider. Being in Vietnam now is a struggle to even see a typewriter in person vs even to purchase one. Will need to wait until I'm stateside next. Appreciate you taking time to share.

I have a Voss ST-24. It's such a beautiful machine, a joy to type on. The card guide on mine was cracked when I first got it, but it wasn't too much to fix it. Making adjustments is also really simple on these things. I love it.

Bintazmin ~ How did you fix? I just received a VOSS de luxe and love it BUT same issue the card guide is cracked. 😬 Need advice so I can avoid further deterioration. Anyone?

I own two Olympia Report de luxe machines. Both made in Germany, both excellent typewriters.

These are absolutely a marvel of the typewriter realm... makes me wonder why other brands have been so lauded with this one often forgotten.
I’ve got two of them: one in green (of this generation) with Rakish typeface, and the other standard Pica of the newer generation (the one that has the body that snaps apart).

Any advice or tips on how to remove the platen on the Voss De Luxe? I got as far as removing the left knob, which simply screws off. But I cannot figure out how to remove the right knob. Would like to get my platen recovered. Thanks!

During the Vietnam debacle I was a company/battalion clerk and the US Army typewriter I used was so bad (I'm making 8 carbon copies of the Morning Report) that I brought in my humble Corona electric and the Commander loved it! Voss must have been a very large concern as they had their hand in many products. Style is at an apex when this typewriter was made. After the Modern, it is evident that designers did not know where to go.

I am getting ready to sell my Voss DeLuxe like this one...unless your film makes me decide to keep it! My machine requires a deep plunge for shifting, which I find distracting.

Very interesting video I must say. But I do have a question for you. When you get old typewriters, it seems the most inevitable issue that arises is a snapped or broken draw band, given the band is usually old and dried out. Do you fix that issue yourself? Do you have any demos on how to do it? What do you use for a new drawband?

What model year is the Voss De Luxe in this review?

One major downside with the Voss: the card scale. If that snaps or breaks, the machine is unusable, as it helps feed the paper sheet past the bottom of the platen. Other typers don’t depend on the card scale to feed paper in. A strangely large oversight for such a high quality machine.
