Brilliant.....far beyond anything on TV. Old school mechanics with skills we are rapidly loosing in this plug and play world,👍
Absolutely brilliant. Smoking a roll up whilst cleaning the carb out 😂
As funny as Morecambe and Wise
Best thing on TV since only fools and Horses. I could almost smell the two stroke smoke through the screen. Brilliant episode, my Sunday viewing is now complete. Bring on the road test 😂
Only fools and no horses...
@@philleggitt3005 Horses have escaped 😁
All 25year 0lds and under should drive these...until they learn to respect the roads and learn some manners....Great vid 5 stars
As a Trabant owner, I just HAD to watch this.
Mine is a 1988 estate from Bulgaria. The mechanicals are 'OK', it's always the brakes and electrics that tend to go sideways. Watching this series with interest.
I worked with a East German engineer who had worked at the Trebant plant in the wait for it........ research and development department!😮 Even though the design didn't change in it's 40 year history. It turns out they sold their ideas to the west. They designed and built a prototype of the MK1 Golf, but we're told to crush it when they sold the design to VW, the engineers hid it instead it's now in the Trabant museum. He told me you had to wait 12 years for one so used ones were more expensive than new ones. I did drive my friends one, a green estate that was an experience😂 😂😂😂
They where well ahead of there time as a car company, some of the stuff they designed was epic but sadly the failing economy stopped them from going into production 👍
Brilliant! Always wanted one of those. Loving the 2-stroke dinosaur. Fudge kneeling in petrol with a roll up reminds me of my youth trying to get things started. Best laugh I've had all week. 😅
I am crying with laughter. Absolutely brilliant fun!
At around 3 minutes in when you opened the door. I swear the car said Al. It literally said your name. It's destiny!! 😂😂
IT'S 50:1 two stroke mix AL, "This petrol vappours bothering me" Al lights a rollie standing over the spillage😂
Well at my age it’s the only living dangerously I get 😂👍
Depends on the model year. Older ones (pre-1980s I think) were 1:33.
Now we can finally see the damage caused by those Bedford fumes on your sanity AL 😂
Brilliant I shall be watching this up at the workshop this afternoon instead of welding 40 year old German tin. 👌
Best hour of entertainment on RUclips this year 🤣 Al & Fudge messing about with that old Czech 🇨🇿 motor 👍🏻
Brilliant video. Love the dynamics of you and Fudge. Great little rocket. Marc from Australia 🇦🇺
A good friend of mine was born and raised in east Germany and 1981 his father ordered a brand spanking new gray Trabant. After a 2 year wait they received a light yellow one. No questions asked about the wrong color because they knew they had to wait another 2 years for another one that also might be wrong. They had the yellow one until 1992 when they moved to Sweden.
That safety rollup saved you from petrol poisoning for sure 😂😂
Got to love a 2 stroke, thats where most people start with there journey into repairing and tinkering, Mainly with Motorcycles in this country, but love the sound and smell of a 2 stroke, takes me back to my youth with My first Bike a Kawazaki AR80.
Same here, i had a 1972 Suzuki ac50 and some old mowers
2 stroke trabant, real peoples car from the past. Eco crowd will have a kiliption. Great find. I wonder will dipotane in the petrol eliminate the blue smoke.,ye should fit a honda 700cc quad engine in her
Dang, de dang, dang, dang. I remember them well. As a Brit ex-pat residing in Berlin since 1980 we could smell the two-stroke oil from East Berlin in the West. On the transit route to West Germany there were always a plethera of 'trabies' standing on hard shoulder being repaired in situ by their proud owners. In East Germany there was a black market for used trabies because there was a 10 year waiting list for a new one. The last version in the mid 1980's was fitted with a VW 1.1 4 stroke petrol engine licensed directly from VW. When the wall came down you could buy these death traps for pennies when their previous owners were 'upgrading' to large Fords with more oomph. There are still enthusiasts who restore maintain and race these cars but it has become expensive due to the scarcity of parts. I never ever expected to see one of these in the UK.
Once again another brilliant video from Alovich and Fudgiskov. Keep up the good work fellas.
Ahhh, I'm glad you ended up with this. I got an email about it coz I'm in the Trabant club, but I don't have the space to have it. So I got dad to message you as I thought you might like it. Can't wait to come down and have a look at it when we pick up our t4 😁😁😁
Honestly you both are the best distraction ever, wife n I have poured a pint sized shot glass each of lubrication of a certain persuasion and are thoughly enjoying this. Our lad has gone on a school trip so house is too quiet. You and Fudge are making up for his absence in spades 😂
🤣hoooooo leeeeeee crap mate , i live in Australia and it wouldn't last 5 min lol But you made me want one
Its is strangely cool!! In an awful way 😂😂
At 1 point wasn’t sure if fudge was gonna come out of it alive 😂 the smoke in your workshop was impressive too. Brilliant lads well done!
My Dad ran Jawa's and CZ's in the seventies. I quite like that two stoke thrum. You can hear them from two miles away!
I reckon you need to drive it up to see Guy Ritchie over at Compton Abbas airfield as they used a 601 "limousine" in his film Man from UNCLE, he lives virtually on yer doorstep anyways so you might be able to get a hire out for a props car with the old thing.
Only fools and horses, have nothing on you lads, brilliant little car blue smoke a bonus 👍
I could watch you two all day 😅 brilliant
Oh my god...
Well of course I knew that I was getting old and a little delinquent.......bordering on "sad", but...
I actually like it!
Nice work Al! I love old school
Mechanics, Especially a Trabant, wish I could have one, Especially the Patina look! Suits it Al!
Hi Al and Fudge, thank you so much.
That was your best yet, That was GREAT,
Chris
Drove one of these around Berlin with the missus The most fun you can have with anything made of plastic including anything you could find in a Czechoslovakian sex shop lol what a find!!!!
Love it ……well done Al 😂
This is so ….HUB NUT !!
Nice the wheel centres look the same as on an Ivor Williams trailer!
Your fuel mixing methodology is exactly how I fuel my chainsaw. Stand there, try some calculations in the head, fail, slosh random amounts of oil and fuel in the tank, justify my actions with a few positive words and then hope it works. Literally always starts.
That is a high quality vehicle. Looking forward to future videos on it. Makes a change from seeing bmw's all over you tube 😂
Another masterpiece 😂 you boys just get better every week 👍
Love the smell of a two stroke in the morning….or evening 👍😁
I agree with the wife you have lost the plot 😂😂 keep up the fab work
top quality work ⭐️👍
A lawnmower engine would be a good upgrade... But it woundn't have the character... Or the clouds of smoke! Lol
thumbs up as allways subscribed for over 2 years
Great vid guys. I really enjoy seeing old cars being brought back to life. Great channel 👍
I remember when one of those featured on minder Arthur daily got stuck with one the trivant it was blue 😂 nice one Al and fudge 👍
Funnily enough my wife won't travel in my cinquecento and it's positively brand new compared to this contraption 😂
Still watching video so unwise to comment further except to say love the car and tinkering by 6d two-stroke 😂 and his able assistant 👍🇮🇪
I love all the videos you do Al and especially when you chuck in something like this 😂
Funny the things you remember, sounds like a two-stroke outboard boat motor ❤😊
As I've said in another recent comment, I'm in Canada, actually in the Toronto area. I was on the way to work one morning and got stuck in traffic. Turns out it was following a Trabant doing about 30KPH in a 70KPH limit. Not built for what we consider 'highway speed'.
Screaming two strokes are just the thing! Preferably with two wheels instead of four! 😊
I’m only 5 mins in and already loving this! The excitement coming from you al is unreal, I’m chuffed for you. Right fudge has just arrived so I’m gonna carry on watching mate
I feel it needs to be called Greta! Someone at Uni had one of these in the late 90's. I suspect it had a new engine because it flew along. Can you imagine one of these flying through the streets of Salford in a cloud of blue smoke. It was truly a sight to behold. Don't leave it in the rain... I've heard the bodywork turns to gruel! Best one yet lads. Can't wait for it to become your daily driver.
Aww mint 😊 please restore it what a lovely little motor. Great video lads. 👍
Another brilliant episode and can see the filters in the rollies acted as fume filters lol
Another great video guy's, there's nothing more satisfying than getting an ole' car running!
Can't wait for the road test episode 💯% brilliant 👏
Another brilliant video has always so funny and entertaining al and fudgie can't wait to see on the road 👍
Great video comrades,I’m amazed you pair have survived this long ! .
Defying death on a daily basis 😂
A Trabant! Fantastic! Can't wait to see you hurtling round the Dorset lanes in it!
Fantastic entertainment, and a whole lot of knowledge too.❤
AW poor fudgie getting all smoked up. Great video AL I did not think it would start. And comical
Wow, great Sunday afternoon viewing love it . I seen a green one donkeys years ago down Truro 👍
Another great video from the pair of you, looking forward to the next episode on the trabant.
Brilliant as usual, can beat the noise of a two stroke. 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Well, what can I say? You fellas have excelled yourselves, again! Absolutely brilliant fettling and top entertainment, long may you keep buying stuff you don’t need and, most importantly, having proper fun……
Nice work great video thank you 👍
Another great piece of work. Thanks man for this. Have a great and we will see what is coming out this week.
Should be on main stream, brilliant , he is new Fred Dimnah.
Try and find that Channel 4 programme where Robbie Coltrane takes apart and rebuilds one of these with the supplied toolkit of a 13 and a 17mm pair of spanners and a Soviet screwdriver.
Excellent vid again mate top notch and both of you are such comedians just like the chuckle brothers pmsl just like me and me dad who work together daily with 2 stroke chainsaws we are loggers lol peace lads ✌
Love the old trabant it will make a brilliant daily driver and you could take it to one off the stop oil protests they would soon move.
So, can we assume your quite pleased with your cardboard creation? Well done Al 😃😃😎😎
Straight from Crazy Vaclavs that 😂 Put it in H! 😂
👍👍👍Al and Fudge brilliant
Absolutely brilliant as usual funniest pair on TV loved it.
You two should have a slot on Top Gear if it ever returns, your hilarious. I love 2 strokes tho, my schoolboy moto x days infected my mind & ive never recovered. What a great way to stick two fingers up at net zero Al.
Great video, hope your mam and dad are doing well 😊
Has anyone got a defibrillator. One And a half hours of laughing my socks off. Brilliant.and as Al said Bless her little heart.
Afterburner?? Only if the coked up muffler catches fire 😂. Keep the jokes coming, I'm dying here......oh my aching sides😂😂
Top quality entertainment from you both always making me laugh so much keep up the great work and content 👏🫡
Top quality video Al, i remember back in the early 90's when everyone and their mates were bringing them trabby's into the country🤭🤭🤭 but i'm very disappointed with you and fudge, i was expecting to see you both drive off dressed as the KGB at the end🤣🤣🤣🤣
Brilliant its Sunday....Had me tea sat down in my soft seat, now where's Al...
I always like AL & Fudge Sunday madness, it helps to make me feel normal...
Now i'm an understanding man, i can make allowances for all sorts of deviations, mention of papier mache, i was, aggast...
Swing into view, a warped looking Austin cambridge/M Oxford, not even a Vanden plas Princess 4L....
Now i'm not a DR but even i know when a man needs help....Im not even going bother to phone the DR for him...
The best place for that, is durdle door and hope it blows away...
Good job !!! …gretting from Spain 🇪🇸
Genuine glee at his latest foreign acquisition.....a nasty horrible rotting lump of Czechoslovakian tripe! But you got it to go! Great video and the one liners keep coming. Well done lads.
Really enjoyed this. Runs well. All good
Your missus is right! you have been smoking something you should'nt have. This makes the Reliant look like a limo. These things were sh!t when they were new....and here you are with this and you actually paid money? Do you keep chickens? Take the wheels off it and put them in it. In any case I'm sure you and fudge will make it fun to watch. 😁👍
It’s 500 times better than the super van!!! We’ve been road testing and it’s not terrifying at all 😂😂😂👍
Absolutely fantastic video!!! More of the same please.
Good one Al , fudge , didn’t sound too bad did it 👍🏻
Sounds like my dad's old lambretta,👍
Its made of what was called 'duraplast' mixture of resin and wool waste from carpet making of all.things. .
I had a Wartburg knight It had the same engine but 3 cylinder.
Rusted and basically fell apart.
Swapped it for a used vauxhall viva after the gearstick snapped off in my hand on the one way bit of market place in Blandford . used to be a used car place on the Salisbury road bought the viva for £100 and he gave me a tenner for the Wartburg just cos he'd not seen one !
Those wee the days . ( Mid 80's)
What a cool find of a car Al!! Don’t let Aging Wheels see this.
great fun watching xx
Fab vid Al & fudging brilliant viewing fir a Sunday morning 😂😂
Al, Fudge do you know your the centre for anti depressant tv what would we do without you funny brilliance 🇬🇧🧢👍
Brilliant one of your best. Brave man taking that on.
Omg omg I love it 😊😊😊😊 my 17 year old loves them and lada
Apparently this one has been bypassed but from factory there was a fuel tap underneath the tank. Depending on the model year the handle is in the passenger footwell or there's a linkage to a knob under the dash, below where the radio would go. The cars came with a dipstick for the fuel tank. Only very late ones had a fuel gauge (and possibly only higher-spec models). Some 80s models had an actual fuel efficiency gauge - a cluster of green, amber and red LEDs if I remember correctly and the more fuel you ran through the carb the more LEDs lit up.
i was thinking i was listening to crazy frog brilliant
mmmmmm can smell it lovely good mechanics. new school be like what are points
Class, sounds like a 350lc on Allspeeds lol.
I knew it was a Trabant before I knew which country it came from.😂
The Trabant was one of the best known Communist cars on European roads.😮
Well done Al, look forward to where this 👏 will go. ❤😊
Just brilliant 🚗👍
