My Dad knew all his 30's and 40"s cars. Now you see them advertised and the price is a fraction of 70's and 80's. It's sad. Some 1950's cars now aren't appreciated as much as they should be and they should be worth so much more. (Love the pic at the end! Wow!)
I think just because she started up after 18 months outside she deserves to be restored, it seems you have faith in the engine/cooling system fans etc she deserves to live on if you have the time and theres nothing better than a happy significant other.
Delores has to live on. She's lovely albeit a little mousy! Must keep that in the inner circle. As far as your trip to France... have you measured the Trabant or the Plastic Pig to see if they'll fit in the back of the van that is stranded out there? Drive one out there (slowly), pop it in the back of the van when you get there and drive them both back! You know it makes (no) sense!
Take the three wheel van, driveable on bike or car licence and should squeeze into the back of a van :) Put it down as road testing, or make up a three wheel van towing dolly and just drag it back on its rear wheels.
Think you need to strip all the good bits from the green one and make the purple one fresh again ,keep the missis happy and have a proper nice car again
Yes it's a shame to cannibalise the green Audi, but it's a rich source of parts to make the purple one really nice. You'd still get a buyer for the green one with the more cosmetically challenged bits from the purple one fitted to it.
Get Those Audi 80s back on the road! 2 modern classics in the making there. If you don't have the time, plenty of Audi fans out there will snap them up!
I had a 2.0 Audi 80 convertable in a turquoise colour with a magnolia interior. Driving through High Wycombe one hot summer's day I stopped at a junction. Two black blokes were stood on the kerb by where i was and one said to the other "look at dat fat poof in dat gay car!" The Audi was for sale on Auto Trader that afternoon! Re your Audi, it would be a bloody nice car for you to go down to France in. They are both worth saving.
Absolutely love my green’97 2.6 auto. You got to save both of them and keep the purple one. They are bullet proof. Too many people are breaking good cabs to to make a few quid
Find another Audi 80 with a 2.6 v6 , good engine solid car what’s not to love , one of the best cars I ever owned was an 80 avant Quattro with the same engine great cars , keep her .
You will regret selling Deloris if you and the Mrs are so attached to it, rinse the green one for bits and do it, I for one would love to see Al and Mrs Al having some fun and not just working all the time.
Audi's cool with those period oz alloy wheels and only rising in price as you appear aware of 80s and 90s cars. Perhaps spend one day a week working on your vehicles. It was good enough for lady Diana.
Love watching your videos, and as a fellow Audi nut, you need to save the two Audi 80 convertibles, they are so rare now, and would make great content for your channel. Love what you do, looking forward to more videos. 👍😎
Brilliant video , very different but I loved it , I reckon as you mentioned Mathewson in this video you should put both of them through their auction as a job lot , it would make for a great crossover video & hopefully push you a bit more mainstream 🤷🏼♂️, but great content either way 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Try John at Barum Engines with the Austin 10, he seems to know a ton of the old Austin lot who would snatch a chance at a viable project. I did chat with a nice bloke from Sturminster Newton who had a few 7's as he used to bring one up to the car show up at Gill rugby club and Gillingham in Gear show, can't remember the chap's name.
Hiya al, fudgey👋 Both great Audi,s i would fix petrol pipes n' things on the green one, get it mot'd (or mot ready) sell that but definitely worth keeping blue one! New roof n seats of ov flee bay.. jobs a good un.😉 👍 well, well worth keeping.
Sunday compulsive viewing completed. ✅ In fact you have maybe inspired me to shift some of the stuff in my workshop that never gets used. Thanks Al and Fudgie for a different but interesting video. A follow up video would be nice so we have an update on what happened to all the cars.
I had a green estate Audi 80, diesel. Bought it at 100k miles sold it at 200k miles. One of the most reliable and best looking cars I ever owned. Had to go to London to se a specialist and stayed at a posh hotel. The car park attendant was so impressed with my car he found me a prominent parking space between a Rolls Royce and a Bentley. Only had good looking cars on display at the front of the hotel. Only sold it because my wife kept getting rained on from the sun roof which Audi could never fix. Miss that car.
Great video. Very entertaining. Not into Audi's. Think it would be a good idea to sort out the green one first and then sell to finance Delores. Both will be nice in the end.
Mrs H isn’t going to let her Audi go now, you know it. You’ll have to get your hands dirty on this and recommission it as her daily driver. Especially as the summer days are looming.
Very nice care Al but personally I would rather have a sprinter or vito. Regarding the Austen I follow a local guy here in Hampshire called oak swamp , he is into all that old classic stuff . They are on u tube .
Always had a thing for a audi 80 convertable but in purple is the only colour to have. Was talked out it twice. PS Al a bike license be good for you. But not a hongay nice old GS or RT bmw be up your street. But would mean doing a bit of learning at your age 😂
roof skin is still available as is a rear window too not big money either , just got rid of mine needed a rear window 2.6 v6 manual went like a scalded cat lovely drive but so impractical and not great on fuel but like you say what a cracking drive
i had some victorys shutting hydr tappets up in petrol engines by doing a oil change and filling with diesel oil as the oil cuts a load of crapp out as its made for dirty diesel engines just go back to normal oil with next oil chenge its worked on fords /vauxhalls right up to range rovers all resulting in less noise
My mum had an Audi 80 once, it drove fine.....until you hit a puddle, then it would just conk out forcing her to pull over, wait en minutes before restarting it. It once took her over half an hour to drive 4 miles in the rain. When I say puddles, I do mean actual little puddles.
I agree… fix her Al. Tax her for summertime only, enough that odd trip across the pond. If green has to surrender her parts… then that’s OK. She’ll keep others on the road in honour.
Al, make sure your mrs don’t see this video 🤭😂 fixes them both Al you know you want to but will you have time to 🤯that’s going to be the problem best of luck 🤞🏻 great video Al keep up your great work 👏🏻🫶🏻
Save both sell 5 pot as resto project and if you need any help sourcing parts for the V6 I'll put you in contact with few members with the bits you need
Good Afternoon Al and Fudgey. Another Lovely relaxed and Informative video from You Al. You do have some rather Unique and very Rare of today, because you do Not see these Gorgeous vehicles on our roads anymore. It is all of these Boring Plastic and no Character pieces of crap. These were Fine Examples of Excellent German Engineering at it's Best. Mercedes Benz and Audi. These vehicles were built to last. Sell the Green Audi, Fully Restore the Purple 2.6, V6 Beast back to her Original condition and Spec. Suprize your Dear Wife with the Finished vehicle parked on her driveway wrapped like a Birthday Present with a Large Red Bow tied around her, for your Dear Wife to Un-Wrap Al. That would just Perfect my Friend. With the Austin 10 vehicle, he needs a Professional Vintage Vehicle Restorer, to do Everything on this Gorgeous Vintage piece of Beauty. Thank you very much Al and Fudgey. You really do have such Excellent vehicles, that make Excellent Restoration Projects for Future Video's. This really is my Friend, A Superb Channel for vehicle Enthusiasts. Very, very Well Done...!!!!!!
We owned 3 5-cylinder Passat's: 2 1921cc carb manuals and a 1994cc injected automatic. All 3 utterly reliable with 250 000 miles between them. Loved the sound of the 5-pot engine. I'd refurb them both if you can put the parts list into reality. I always fancied the 2.3 20v 5-cylinder Audi 90. 170 bhp with the sound and the acceleration.
Got love an old Audi sounds great Al poor old Fudge stay away from the sausage rolls 😂😂. Save it Al it's well worth it make good content. Repair them Please 😊
Fix it Al and let's have a raffle for it, but for gawds sake don't tell the Mrs who won the bugger, else you will be fetching it back or have a bad home 😅
They were a bit of a Yuppie wagon at the time but are definitely cool now. Africa Twins are great bikes, best engine Honda ever made. It would drive to the moon and back without missing a beat. I say go for it! Film your road trip to le sud!😁
Great to see the TWA tea mug restored; and thanks for sharing the Audi 80 restart. I like your cunning plan for next week, looking forward to seeing the boat put through its paces. Cheers👍
Hit this like button to vote for reviving Delores! Come on Al this is a definite saving machine ❤️
Fix it , fix it , fix it. A happy wife is a happy life.
90’s Audi’s were spot on not like the crap they churn out these days
They used to be incredibly classy and just did what they said on the tin, not like the tacky tat they turn out now!
Mercedes gone the same way
My Dad knew all his 30's and 40"s cars. Now you see them advertised and the price is a fraction of 70's and 80's. It's sad. Some 1950's cars now aren't appreciated as much as they should be and they should be worth so much more.

Cmon madam . Help this quickly depreciating 45 year old out before he gets any worse. The car needs some love as well 😂😂😂
I think just because she started up after 18 months outside she deserves to be restored, it seems you have faith in the engine/cooling system fans etc she deserves to live on if you have the time and theres nothing better than a happy significant other.
Al you gotta fix them all and then sell them, after all that's what YOU do and what WE are here for.
Owned a 1990 Audi 100 2.3e Avant many moons ago. Thirsty and fast, just like myself those days (now I’m only thirsty).
AL.... THAT AUDI IS A KEEPER.... put some dollar into her.... few years mucho dollar returnage.
Thanks for the content gents
Get the two of them back on the road (so to speak). It would be nice to save both as they are nice examples of 90s German motoring.
You're only 45, just a lad still Al !
"Smells a bit mousey in there....."
".....Hammer"
Had me wondering for the mousies for a minute! 😮
Love those era Audi's, get it sorted, would make a great anniversary present!!
Delores has to live on. She's lovely albeit a little mousy! Must keep that in the inner circle. I would argue they've been cool for many years!
Yes it's a shame to cannibalise the green Audi, but it's a rich source of parts to make the purple one really nice. You'd still get a buyer for the green one with the more cosmetically challenged bits from the purple one fitted to it.
90's audi's, so cool, i think definitely fix Delores
I know the green one was your mums , BUT , that purple one would look great with a black interior and a good roof , PLUS , a happy wifey is a happy Al
Get Those Audi 80s back on the road! 2 modern classics in the making there. If you don't have the time, plenty of Audi fans out there will snap them up!
Africa Twins need a minimum 33 inch inside leg! I only have short legs and kept falling off unless I could find a nice kerb. 😎😎
I own a 98 Audi cabriolet !.. come on save them both they are up and coming classics 👍.
Put in on an Audi forum, somebody will have it.

It was good enough for lady Diana.
Hi Al, I've been an Audi man for over 20 years. I think you should fix it and give it back to the wife. It would be great content for the channel.

Another vote to save Delores, she sounded delicious, the green has to go on to live another life 😍😍😍

Give it some TLC and save it. Much better than all the modern shit on the roads Al.
Deffo fix Delores- it sounds like it has more sentimental value than the other!
Is it just me, or do I get the 2 Ronnies vibe off those pair of lads 😂
I’m thinking more laurel and hardy 😂😂😂
With the harmonica music it makes me think of last of the summer wine.
Always had a thing for a audi 80 convertable but in purple is the only colour to have. Was talked out it twice. PS Al a bike license be good for you. But not a hongay nice old GS or RT bmw be up your street. But would mean doing a bit of learning at your age 😂

Good to see both being repaired and back on the road.

Cunning plan Al. Get the Audi fixed and MoT'd then the wife can drive you to France to go and pickup your van. Genius 😂
100% fix the Audi 80's... they're not made like that now!
She needs to be saved keep the old girl going 👍
