  • These aircraft are what make shuttle worth so enjoyable and definitely worth a visit. The only place anywhere in the world you can see this flying.

I didn't realize how beautiful she is until now. And what a sound.

My dad survived WW2 , probably because as a navigator, he got posted to a Mosquito squadron. So I have always loved the Comet, (not that you need an excuse) but I had no idea she sounded so remarkably good!

Thank you for your comments yes the comet sounds absolutely amazing and it’s come through really well on this video. I think it’s because she displayed on her own on Sunday rather than formation and it was nice to see her on her own particularly as she did her first run in racing past the trees looks just amazing as she was flown really fast, it’s fastest I’ve seen her flown. Hope you enjoy the video

Still one of the sexiest civilian aircraft to me! She got her flaws but they make her even more beautiful!

As a kid many years ago, I was given a plastic kit of this magnificent aircraft. It is rather more magnificent in the air. Thank-you to the pilot. I believe she is not the easiest plane to handle.
The story of the Dutch DC2 which came second in the London to Melbourne, Australia race is a story well worth chasing down. The DC2 was lost in bad weather at night on the Victoria / New South Wales border. The local ABC radio station called for people to take their cars to the local race track and their lights provided a landing strip. She scraped a take off next day and landed in Melbourne without her passengers as with them she would not have been able to take off. The passengers (they were paying passengers) were taken to Melbourne by train. Mike in Oz

Thank you Mike for this fascinating insight into the air race. Yes she can be a handful to land, but in this video she performed perfectly in my previous video in August. You’ll see she had to do at least one go around before they were able to land her. She’s a truly unique aeroplane and that she is still the original one that took part in that race in 1934 is incredible us, this generation can still see her flying. Hope you enjoyed the video. 264flight.

A top speed of around 230mph and a range of nearly 3000 miles. What an aircraft for 1934.
