Having 70 years of life experience and education, I find that reality beats fiction every time. The real history of these units didn't need the fiction of a cockholded captain and his rival and deserters.
Historically, there was no "Indian trap". Custer led his force into a situation where the enemy was advantaged. The 7th Cav. was approximately 750 men, not 300.
correct - 'trap' in my opinion is a misleading description of his miscalculations. The different numbers we often come across might be the result of the divided forces.
@@michaelmueller7962 Yes, almost two-thirds of the 7th Cav - under Reno & Benteen - survived the battle. The Custer-led portion of the divided force was destroyed. It's amazing that so many individuals purporting to be "history buffs" don't understand this very basic fact of the Little Big-Horn affair.
yeah the Indians had Winchester repeaters and Henry repeaters which they liked because of the cocking action and they were given to them on the reservations. They had muskets as well and yes the 7th used single shot Springfields, they out ranged the Indians an the idea would be to keep them at range and don't close with them. Once the Indians got within 200 yards the winchesters and henry's really took there toll.
@@jasonbutler7054. You presented that very well. Yes the range of the Springfield’s was highly apprised by the Army but the Cheyenne were able to utilize ravines & rolling hills to close the distance so their shorter range repeating rifles now became a primary factor over range
The army thought that it would be a waste of ammunition giving troopers Winchesters, that they'd use it all up too quickly. Plus they were more expensive than Springfeild carbines. However, not all Indians had Winchesters, many had other older guns or no gun at all, just bows, lances etc or just pistols. Troopers were found to have had problems with cartridge casings jamming in the carbines after firing a while. Army markmanship was generally quite poor too.
The Springfield carbine actually often replaced the ACW era Spencer carbine that was a 7 shot repeater, though the most common ACW carbine was the single shot Sharps..
the only ones who survived at Little Big Horn were two Italians, one of whom was the trumpeter, when there was the Austrian Empire the Italians were always at war with the Austrians who said that we Italians have seven lives like cats

Ok simpleton....if it was for tough white frontiersmen like Custer you wouldn't be here...the Indians would still be dominating the plains and killing each other...
if you want to know the TRUTH about the battle at little big horn river , read " custers fall " , david humphreys miller. he interviewed the natives who were there , in their own language.
I recognise the whole 7th cavalry didn't die at the little big horn major marcus reno and captain Frederick benteen disregarded a dispatch from custer for support custer and all his men 210 died not knowing knowing reno and benteen had retreated these 2 officers reno being 2nd In command had between them about 370 men totaling 6 companies if your part of a regiment even though your divided into 3 troops and facing facing overwhelming odds in my book you all die or survive together as brothers what ever peoples opinion of custer was he was a brave man at the little big horn the 7th custers troop died alone reno and benteen saved there own skins
And yet he made the discission to split his troops and remember the pack train was still behind Benteen when he came upon Reno about to get whipped out.
Would have been alright with 10 times more action and 10 times less boring chit chat. The action bits are absolutely terrible. Nowhere near the Little Bighorn either. Garbage movie.
Most people today are no longer able to listen to dialoges or even to concentrate unless there is permanent overdone action by super-heroes with cuts every 3 seconds.
Sure is lots comments about dumb custer! But General crook who came after was not dumb because he brought a full brigade plus 8 wagons of 4 gatling guns and extra ammunition plus 6 smooth bore ball cannons and 2 wagons of extra powder! Also his soldiers all had the new 7 shot henry repeater rifles in 30 caliber! He killed almost all the indians and took some lightly wounded braves and a few chiefs prisoner!

God bless U and ur family.🙂
custer died for white man sins
Ok simpleton....if it was for tough white frontiersmen like Custer you wouldn't be here...the Indians would still be dominating the plains and killing each other...
I thought that was Jesus who did that.
typical american arrogance. Custer is not Jesus.
En español por favor gracias
Atoh ahay .
if you want to know the TRUTH about the battle at little big horn river , read " custers fall " , david humphreys miller. he interviewed the natives who were there , in their own language.
En español se titula asi?
Warm nicht auf deutsch ?????
What a stupid movie 🎥 this could have made into a soap opera 🤮🤮🤮🤮
The
Not the best fighting force around let alone in the world

He killed almost all the indians and took some lightly wounded braves and a few chiefs prisoner!
no, Crook retreated with is tail between his legs, e never come back as planned to reach Custer e Custer was destroyed. Crook was the blame not Reno
En castellano hablado 😡😈🇨🇱
🤣🤣🤣
One of the last racist westerns featuring white extras "painted indians" that couldn't shoot straight.
