Hello Gary I've got a 1999 ford f350 4x4 and its slipping in 1st gear. All other gears shift fine just when you go to take off any ideas on a "easy fix" or not possible. Thanks for the great videos
2000 f350 7.3 4r100. shifts lazy from 2nd to 3rd and lazy shift from 3rd to 4th. 3rd and 4th have engine brake all the time. will rebuilding accumulator body fix it?
Thanks for answer questions. My 4R100 lost reverse. Coloium bushing was bad and replaced but shift lever still does not go to park, two three inch broken wires in pan that are cirated like, I think may be related to cable and rooster tail?
@@GaryFerraro I am not sure what you mean by tight? But I drained it again and took the pan and filter off. Nothing looked broken. I will remove cable on the side and see by hand if it will shift. It is on ramps. I will put blocks behind tires. Message you after I try. Thank you very much for answering.
I removed cable and the sensor at the end, the rooster does move freely. But shifting handle still does not go to reverse. I reckon something still wrong in column. I would send you a picture of the serrated wire in the pan but it does not let me here. From seeing you disassemble the trans I did not notice anything like it. I will look into column again. Never tried working on a trans before, Glad your out there helping us greasy hands with the hardest part.

Just to share my little bit of Ford only trans knowledge with you;; RF-F6 and RF-F8 stands for; RF-rough forge,,it's the Ford engineering part number,,not the actual part number from a dealer,but can be used to get the part from Ford F6. 96,the f stands for 1990 and the 6 stands for the six year of 96,,so f6=1996 The f6 casting fits all e4od/4r100 from 96-04 non pto,,, also the 96 and 97 models check the small plate for build date,take 3 small balls If it's built in 98 up it takes 2 small check balls,also look for 2holes or 1 hole in small plate Now the RF-F8 stands for 98 and it was used on PTO only models from 98-04 Also if you get the middle small check ball wrong,,,,I can't remember which way on which one but the result is a no 2-3 shift Also more info on ford part numbering system,,c=60's D=70's E=80's F=90's 2000 and up is a different story,

If I start out in drive, then shift down to second, it goes to free spinning engine. Or if I am in drive and it has shifted to 3rd or OD and I pull the shift lever to second it goes to free spin. Is that an indication of hard part fail?
Little bit offtopic but since this is your latest video i want to ask you something.I rebuild a 722.319 for a 560 mercedes and used alto clutches (did use them in my own 722.320 as well) But the guy took the trans to france i live in germany so i dont know how he installed it) He used dexron 3 or another bevo listed oil as recommend (i use meguin megol dx2d that is still for sale in germany) bevo list 236.6 and he used some different kind of atf 236.8 or 9 o think.He drove the car and he said that the car shifts with too high rpms(Slipping) but it drives.Now he sends me pictures of black gue on the bottom of the pan together with red.Now thats burned oil.How could this happen? i installed alld rums with the feflons seals good and the gap is between 0.7 and 1.30 same with the b3 reverse.could he just used bad fluid or too low fluid in the pan? or evrything together. Hi I have a 2002’ f250 4r100. Its started having shifting issues late shifts etc and it went out. So I had a rebuild done and it feels solid but now its not doing a 1-2 shift. Checked solenoid pack and it seems ok but a lot of people suggest the tcc solenoid is bad. Does that sound right? Or is this spring issue easy enough to check if im dropping the pan anyway? Would this spring normally be replaced during a rebuild?
@@GaryFerraro Im not sure. At neighborhood speeds it seems the rpms just rise and it wont shift. Then on a main road it seemed to eventually shift up around 40-50 mph but sometimes it wouldn’t and the rpms just climb. Its just random.
@@slipagent6 when it upshifts at 40mph do you know if thats 3rd? if you hit the O/D Cancel button does it downshift ? or if you drive it with the O/D Cancel button engaged does it shift late?
@@GaryFerraro Im getting p1000, p1876, p1832, u1058, b1352. Tried using electrical cleaner on any plugs i could find near trans and under hood including ecu. And cleaned some dirty grounds. Still giving codes sounding like tcm or wiring issue or something.
If I have a non-PWM vehicle (99 Expdeition), and a PWM pump, can I use the Sonnax HP-4r100--01 kit and the solenoid kit from the 99, or do I have to use a NON-PWM pump?

So my late 99 f250 super duty seems to be goin from 1st to 3rd I gotta build the rpms to about 3 grand let off the gas n the trans will shift and everything is fine again only happens when I come to a complete stop and take off again or comin to a rolling stop and take off is this the same issue as in the video? Should I check the spring or is it somthing bigger?
Another question where is a great place to buy one online and our parts store and if so do they make upgraded ones for enigines that have more hp and what not?
Gary Ferraro won’t shift into 3rd or try. I don’t think it has any codes, it’s been stuck a couple hours away. I’m finally going to get it today so I can look into it more.
It comes in the Transgo shift kit, think thats the only way to get it, unless you can find something similar to the broken one. Check out Transgo website
I have a f350 7.3 that shifts in first but then the next shift is really hard and will sometimes stall the truck. Or, it will keep upshifting and downshifting until i gain some momentum. Once i get it around 50mph there is no problem. Does this sound like the 2nd is out/broken spring?

If slipping on pullaway, probably have an issue with the forward clutch, not really an easy fix

Sounds like the forward clutch is no good,, something happened to either the clutch disc's or the drum

Disconnect the cable and see if it goes in. Is the shifter very tight?

If spring was not broken, the sprag may be at fault
99 4r100, I lost 2-3 shift. Is the only option replace the sprag? No codes are being thrown.

a 92 f150 4x4 5.8l is doing the same thing. Could it be the same with the E40D?
92 is early model, you may have a possible 1-2 stuck shift valve but the spring breaking does not pertain to this year

No check engine light. Mechanic put snap on reader, i believe he said something like high or low pressure
