Hello Professor this Hunter I have wondered if it evolved into the ganger that we see in the Journey’s arcs. It would be nice to see that history out of the Ganger’s memory’s.

I love this and I appreciate how journeys basically rewrote a few missed opportunities with his captures. I really wish he kept more of his temporary and unofficial Pokémon but gengar more than makes you for it.
Looking back I found it kind of strange how out of the three of them, Haunter was the only one who decided to accompany Ash (sort of) while Ghastly and Gengar stayed in their tower. Had Ash officially captured Haunter, there is the possibility in which Haunter would've been a formidable reserve for Ash or a prankster at Professor Oak's lab. Also I find in interesting how in the early games to get a Gengar, Alakazam or Machamp the player had to trade them but in the anime there were some wild Pokémon (gengar, alakazam, machamp) and might some showcased in the newer games.
I think in the anime they need to give some screen time to some Pokemon regardless of how we could obtain it in the game. Getting Gengar through trade seems okay to me as Ash kinda did that in the anime, trading Haunter for the badge in a way.
Never expected Haunter to be in the spotlight but that’s still awesome, regardless! I do hope Haunter, Ghastly, and Gengar get reunited too. Those guys were a blast! Thanks for another spooky session, Professor. Really love that background!
It's a shame they didn't decide to have Sabrina make a form of cameo in journeys since it could've been fun to have seen how Haunter helped Sabrina no longer be evil. Plus Haunter did have the most personality of the trio and could have invited his besties to live with Sabrina at the gym.
I always wanted to see more of Haunter! Sabrina always terrified me as a kid, so it would have been nice to see her again and Ash's reaction to it! It'd also be a great excuse to show us Haunter again!
Normally for me in my standards I don’t count ash’s haunter out of all the Pokémon ash caught through out the whole series so far, since haunter was only temporary for ash, just like I don’t count his l raticate , or mr. mime, beedrill, or larvatar!, since they only last a short amount of time in the Pokémon anime for ashes storyline, but the storyline of ash becoming friends with that haunter was very interesting to me just like how ash because friends with all kinds of Pokémon. Anyways good break down on ashes haunter and happy early Halloween have an awesome day. 😁👍 oh and ps, I I love the Halloween theme going on in this video.

Mr.mine has got too count, ash has used Mr.mine in a battle at the start of journeys so for a pokèmon to count for me ash has to at least use the said pokèmon in a battle so for me Mr.mine counts 😊
Ash is doing all the things he didn't do in the regions in pokemon journeys like catching infamous pokemon (gengar, dragonite, lucario) and getting different items (gigantamax band, mega stone)
I caught a Ghastly on Route 10 at level 17, and named him King Boo. (Boss of all Boo's in the Super Mario Franchise) By the time I reach Koga's gym King Boo will be a Haunter or a Gengar.

Ash kind of own own a haunter now along with gastly, dragonair,dratini, and pichu when they devolve. I just wish they were registered in ash's rotomphone.
I think you were a bit off on one thing. Haunter didn’t break its promise. It was planning something, all because it doesn’t want to battle. That’s why it left earlier. It was going to put its plan in motion when ash was in trouble, and that was when he’s about to lose to Sabrina. Also, I don’t think haunter ever abandoned Sabrina. They formed a similar bond like ash and pikachu, so they’re basically inseparable now.
While ash having a gengar at this point in time now is sorta poetic as it were still would’ve been something to see ash actually having haunter as part of his party if nothing else for the fun loving personality especially if haunter met ash’s gible though I still see how haunter could be helping Sabrina in more ways than just opening up again

Gastly, haunter and Gengar in this appearance alone forever shaped my view of ghosts types as one of the most iconic creations of Pokémon. Every ghost type that enters the Pokemon family has very thick ectoplasm to fill.
You know what would have been hilarious, is Haunter taking it all seriously for the battle then doing silly stuff. I’m seeing her flying around dodging attacks but doing funny faces and the battle ends. Great goatee Professor Silver :)

Ah, yes... Haunter: The forgotten comic relief, who wasn't officially caught. The episode introducing him is a funny classic. If only we saw more of him... Well, we have Gengar now, but... Why he isn't that great a battler, so far?

Yeah, I have a Universal randomizer on my compute and randomized the wild Pokemon. I also checked the Impossible evolution box so my Haunter could evolve at level 37. I can't trade Pokemon yet, since I haven't defeated all the gym leaders, Elite Four, or Champion yet. Hacked games like Pokemon Fire Red Team Rocket Edition or Pokemon Outlaw are not supported by the randomizer.
Yeah Ash having a Gengar makes up for him not getting this Haunter, but I still wish the Gengar was THIS Haunter. Like Sabrina lightened up enough for Haunter to want to go see and stay with Ash.
The ghastly line is awesome in-game but I find my self now wanting to use it because it's such a devastating pokemon as Gengar. Plus I like a challenge
The original series had a major issue of not letting Ash keep anything other than Pikachu and the starters (with the occasional reminder Pidgeotto exists.) Primeape was given away, Butterfree was released, Haunter he never even caught, Muk and Kingler were just caught randomly then ignored, and Tauros was just a running joke. I assume it's because they weren't as marketable as starters and/or much harder and expensive to animate. It's a shame. If Kanto was written like later seasons, Bulbasaur and Squirtle likely would've went to Brock and Misty while Ash could use all his other captures, which add up to 8 unique species (7 counting Butterfree's release.)
A bunch of ghosts who do nothing but hang out watching comedies? Minus the weird pranks, imagine having those ghosts haunt your house. That'd be awesome.
Ash just casually traumatizing his friends for fun in season 1 proves there is indeed some character development between then and the episode in which Onion/Allister makes his anime debut (not sure what the English title of that episode is, but is recent)

Johto was really the last season I really followed, now I'm 32 and don't really check it anymore outside of sometimes an episode from Sinno.
I'm glad Ash has a Gengar now and Haunter was probably needed to stay to keep Sabrina in check but man I wish Haunter stayed with Ash. It would be such a cool Pokemon for him to have and basically gets a free Gengar with the swap meet in Johto. We could have it in Johto League, Battle Frontier and Sinnoh League battles too. That'd be so cool.
I would have loved to see Haunter wreck some of Ash's more powerful opponents. I bet he would have pulled a Kingler at the league and beat a whole team
Fun fact the farfetch’d episode accidentally foreshadowed ash capturing one so if you ever do sirfetchd I hope you reference that moment in the original series

I think it would've been better had Ash's Gengar been this same Haunter, just evolved. Sabrina gives it back to Ash, who finally makes it one of his official captures. Ah well.
I think it would’ve been so much cooler if Sabrina traded back haunted and it evolved into ash’s journeys gengar or even if the original gengar from the tower was explained to be ash’s journeys gengar. Oh well, great episode nonetheless professor love your enthusiasm as always.

This is all Takeshi Shudo and OLM Inc fault for never having any proper editors, never letting Satoshi catch more than one Pokemon and losing many leagues.
Haunter is interesting because it was an unofficial capture and the whole situation was unclear with the gym. He never owned haunter and that counted as a legitimate battle. I really wish Ash could’ve caught Haunter he never officially caught a ghost or psychic Pokémon until the latest generation when he got Gengar and Mr. mime, funny enough the Mr. mine was owned by his mother so I was in his family for a while. It’s interesting that Haunter stayed with Sabrina bc Haunter isnt a psychic Pokémon either so it’s possible Sabrina used it as an alternative bc there are no ghost gyms in Kanto or it went back to lavender. Heck maybe that gastly from the tower evolved and another gastly joined to make a trio again. Anyway a great video again.
The original series had that crazy writer who would take risks but I feel like he was going for an Akira Toriyama style of comedy that got in the way sometimes. This was a daring arc, making a gym leader a villain and really fleshing them out as a character. It actually felt substantive, and not just routine BS done out of obligation. But that ending though. Kind of ruined it for me. I know Pokemon is a kids show but it's also kind of a shonen battle series. It's about animals that fight each other. And the original series kind of undermined that aspect in favor of the episodic Toriyama-style comedy.
Ay I just realized something if ash's now gengar is that haunter somebody traind him and realized him when he was a gengar and now ash catches that gengar

In Pokemon Red, Blue, and Yellow, there is a certain glitch you can use to get Gengar, Alakazam, and Machamp.

The reason why he Gabe it to Sabrina because he knew it had a good influence on her.
King Boo (Gengar) Mario (Houndoom) and Toad (Breloom) defated Koga's gym trainers. But my Gengar and Houndoom beat Koga's Poison type Pokemon.

@@ProfessorAlexSilver yeah ok I don't know if I've seen it wich season is that? I like the Chimchar story but most of them are really the same personality type. Johto was really the last season I really followed, now I'm 32 and don't really check it anymore outside of sometimes an episode from Sinno.

I'm glad Ash has a Gengar now and Haunter was probably needed to stay to keep Sabrina in check but man I wish Haunter stayed with Ash. It would be such a cool Pokemon for him to have and basically gets a free Gengar with the swap meet in Johto. We could have it in Johto League, Battle Frontier and Sinnoh League battles too. That'd be so cool.
I would have loved to see Haunter wreck some of Ash's more powerful opponents. I bet he would have pulled a Kingler at the league and beat a whole team

I think it would've been better had Ash's Gengar been this same Haunter, just evolved. Sabrina gives it back to Ash, who finally makes it one of his official captures. Ah well.

Haunter is interesting because it was an unofficial capture and the whole situation was unclear with the gym. He never owned haunter and that counted as a legitimate battle. I really wish Ash could’ve caught Haunter he never officially caught a ghost or psychic Pokémon until the latest generation when he got Gengar and Mr. mime, funny enough the Mr. mine was owned by his mother so I was in his family for a while. It’s interesting that Haunter stayed with Sabrina bc Haunter isnt a psychic Pokémon either so it’s possible Sabrina used it as an alternative bc there are no ghost gyms in Kanto or it went back to lavender. Heck maybe that gastly from the tower evolved and another gastly joined to make a trio again. Anyway a great video again.

I don’t think that’s needed
The original series had that crazy writer who would take risks but I feel like he was going for an Akira Toriyama style of comedy that got in the way sometimes. This was a daring arc, making a gym leader a villain and really fleshing them out as a character. It actually felt substantive, and not just routine BS done out of obligation. But that ending though. Kind of ruined it for me.
I know Pokemon is a kids show but it's also kind of a shonen battle series. It's about animals that fight each other. And the original series kind of undermined that aspect in favor of the episodic Toriyama-style comedy.
Definitely way less formulaic and more zany
Ay I just realized something if ash's now gengar is that haunter somebody traind him and realized him when he was a gengar and now ash catches that gengar
