- #HeroesOfProgress⚡️ | This week, our hero is Willis Haviland Carrier, the American engineer who created the first modern air conditioning unit. The invention provides us respite from the summer heat; enabled our species to inhabit previously inhospitable places; increased work productivity when installed in factories and offices around the world; and saved millions of people from suffering heat-related deaths.

Seriously, though, bless this man’s soul. Who knows if we would be able to sleep without air conditioner in this head
May God bless him for his new invention, he saved millions of people from heat,in some part of world with out air-conditioned people can't live. Mr career was a man God sent to the world.
Thank you, Willis!
A God among Men.
This is incredibly short sighted. When you compress coolant you release heat. Every AC unit is creating more heat in the city to create artificial coolness in a sealed area.
Is this a reason why the atmosphere is hotter ???
Airconditioning is not just cooling the air it also involves controlling humidity etc. The vapor compression refrigeration cycle is used not just in airconditioning but also in refrigeration. Your refrigerator is creating more heat outside to create artificial coolness inside. Humans are burning fossil fuels to make their life more convenient. if you don't like the idea, you can start with turning off your refrigerator.
Come move to Southeast Louisiana, my g. It feels like 106 with heat index. Humidity stays around 90%. We all feel like it’s looking just far enough.
You could post the same "short-sighted" comment with just about many other inventions, like plastic for instance, how it's non-biodegradable and harms the environment. It is easy to critique everything with the benefit of hindsight, but here you are posting such comments probably after enjoying the cool air in an air-conditioned room.
Not really. The heat is already in the building. It simply moves the heat from the conditioned space to the outside. Air conditioning only contributes to global warming in that it consumes electricity which is generated by burning fossil fuels. But the refrigeration process its self has no effect.
