The ''lines'' can also be seen as a descendance, the sonnet recommending to procreate in order to save this beauty of theirs. It's a common theme in the sonnets written to or for this person.

It would be wonderful to see you dedicate a series of analysis to Shakespeare’s sonnets...if I had more teachers like you I would been a Shakespeare fanatic by now! (Better late than never!)
i am a software engineer. i started reading Shakespeare at someone's recommendation. then i watched your video. i love Shakespeare and your explanation. you are just brilliant i must say.
What a poem. Excellent analysis. I am always struck--in a society so bent on esteeming and exonerating Change (watch any BBC nature documentary)--by how fundamental our desire for eternity seems. We would have to close our eyes to the obvious import of poems like this one in order to value Change as the central significance of life (as does the BBC nature documentary "Life"). Nothing against BBC documentaries; I'm wonderfully addicted to them. But the poetry of the everlasting is undeniable. I would love to see a follow up video analyzing Keats' "Ode to a Nightingale," to see these two poems in conversation about art. Keep it up!
listening to this b4 my class on New cristism. the contrasts and the unity of this poem is in this. the contrast of comparing the subject of the sonnet to something temporary yet telling that they are eternal makes this sort of unity in the end especially in the couplet.
This is wonderful, Thank you It came to me while listening to this, that perhaps he was keeping "himself" alive...more so than this person he is writing about. He wrote so many sonets about different things he experienced or understood. I'm not familiar with much shakespeare, nonetheless what I have been exposed to makes me feel this way. Like maybe this one says, I loved so deeply once, in a moment I(he) felt so deeply. I've had experiences like that.. they never last.. They fade..until it happens again. I guess I should read more of his work before having an opinion. All the same, this was great and you should do more.. just like everyone else suggested. I really needed this today .. again, thank you.
i love this... simply beautiful! my favorite line: rough winds do shake the darling buds of may- that one could argue she herself is not always good such as a scorching summer
