The ''lines'' can also be seen as a descendance, the sonnet recommending to procreate in order to save this beauty of theirs. It's a common theme in the sonnets written to or for this person.
As long as humans can breathe and eyes can see and ears can hear so will this live and give life to this amazing explanation to pass through generation and understand , thank you you r the best
I'm 76 years old and my view of this well-known sonnet and things beautiful have been transformed by this wonderful discussion. Your create love of the Arts when that is sorely needed. You must transform your student's lives! Thank you.
i am a software engineer. i started reading Shakespeare at someone's recommendation. then i watched your video. i love Shakespeare and your explanation. you are just brilliant i must say.
It would be wonderful to see you dedicate a series of analysis to Shakespeare’s sonnets...if I had more teachers like you I would been a Shakespeare fanatic by now! (Better late than never!)
What a poem. Excellent analysis. I am always struck--in a society so bent on esteeming and exonerating Change (watch any BBC nature documentary)--by how fundamental our desire for eternity seems. We would have to close our eyes to the obvious import of poems like this one in order to value Change as the central significance of life (as does the BBC nature documentary "Life"). Nothing against BBC documentaries; I'm wonderfully addicted to them. But the poetry of the everlasting is undeniable. I would love to see a follow up video analyzing Keats' "Ode to a Nightingale," to see these two poems in conversation about art. Keep it up!
listening to this b4 my class on New cristism. the contrasts and the unity of this poem is in this. the contrast of comparing the subject of the sonnet to something temporary yet telling that they are eternal makes this sort of unity in the end especially in the couplet.
i love this... simply beautiful! my favorite line: rough winds do shake the darling buds of may- that one could argue she herself is not always good such as a scorching summer
I am not good at literature, not good at analyzing it, that's why I don't like it. But you changed my mind. I was struck by the meaning behind this sonnet. Though I am not good at this field, it makes me want to explore more and thanks for those people who explains this to me. And this also help me in my studies. Thank you very much.
I am watching this at 2:30 AM,sleepy, tired, anxious, agitated cause I have a test today from 12:00 PM nd I havent studied this whole semester.Wish me Luck.
This is so helpful, thank you so much for the great explanation. By the way, your "waste land" explanation helped me a lot and I got the best mark in literature exam. Thank you again 🤗
Wow, thank you so much. Shakespeare would be proud of you. Now I love this poem thanks to you. So technical but also so passionate. Excellent video!!!!
Wow amazing job! Im studying English and art in Germany and after reading the sonnet I wasnt really sure what its about and now I know in depth, thank you so so much, this video is so helpful!!
I was so happy when I came to the same conclusion as you about the sonnet couplet, I was unsure about the rest thank you for helping me to get a better idea of this poem.
AMAZING ANALYSIS! AMAZING EXPLANATION! AMAZING DISCUSSION! I feel like I had witnessed the feelings that Shakespeare had when we had written this sonnet. You guided all of the people watching this video to the imaginary world of this sonnet. We feel the eternity of the beloved's beauty, loveliness and temperance. THANK YOU VERY MUCH! KEEP IT UP!

Hey Mr. Huff, we would like to thank you for this wonderful analysis of Shakespeare‘s sonnet!! We are students from Germany and your video was magnificent! Hopefully, our teacher will like our presentation next week. :)

Thank you so much, keep up the good work this helped me ever so much, I was struggling to understand this for the past 2h asking my brothers if they could help me but neither they could understand so when I actually took the time and watched your video it truly helped and I really hope you carry this on🙌💙🤗
This is wonderful, Thank you It came to me while listening to this, that perhaps he was keeping "himself" alive...more so than this person he is writing about. He wrote so many sonets about different things he experienced or understood. I'm not familiar with much shakespeare, nonetheless what I have been exposed to makes me feel this way. Like maybe this one says, I loved so deeply once, in a moment I(he) felt so deeply. I've had experiences like that.. they never last.. They fade..until it happens again. I guess I should read more of his work before having an opinion. All the same, this was great and you should do more.. just like everyone else suggested. I really needed this today .. again, thank you.
Sir this is brilliant. So helpful for students from around the world. You present us with classes with 'class'.. Please make more videos.. Thanks and love from India🥰🙏
Very good. I taught this exact theme in this sonnet (and a couple of others) and it can be very intimate when one understands it, as I'm sure you find, yourself.
