I just had this ESG MAX procedure with Dr. McGowen. They are a great facility. This ablation add on is a stroke of genius. The cramping and bloating has been mild. I never realized how much safer and milder this is compared with surgery sleeve gastrectomy. But gherelin is one of the benefits of the surgical approach.
This procedure is as safe as a colonoscopy! And no risk of gastric reflux which is horrible to deal with from what I understand.
It’s amazing that I’ve got energy and clarity just 2 days out. Day of and day after I was tired and slight discomfort. This is just not a surgery. Such a big difference.
Very glad to have done this. I have no appetite yet but am able to meet my 100gm of protein and 64oz of water easily by sipping throughout the day.
Went to a social evening event today and saw all the good food around and was detached from it. I’m fine with the transition diet to promote the healing.

What are the results of the fundus ablation without the ESG? Have there been any patients that are successful with just that procedure?

Yes, patients can have just the fundus ablation procedure! Patients who undergo fundus ablation alone can lose 10-15% of body weight by 12 months, have decreased hunger, and reduced ghrelin. We recently did a webinar on fundus ablation, also known as Gastric Fundus Mucosal Ablation (GFMA). You can watch that here➡ ruclips.net/video/NNrjS-IVSGw/видео.htmlsi=ZEfuJ_TJLTIYqrbU

There is currently no laser that can ablate within the GI tract. The device that we use (Hybrid APC) has been studied specifically for mucosal ablation.
