Enjoy this wonderful klezmer rendition a famous tune by Dave Tarras performed by world class clarinetist Avrohom Balti from Israel, Backed by precise arrangements and accompaniment of the "Motty Miller Ensemble,
klezmer is a musical tradition of the Ashkenazi Jews of Eastern Europe. Played by professional musicians called klezmorim, the genre originally consisted largely of dance tunes and instrumental display pieces for weddings and other celebrations. Compared with most other European folk music styles,
little is known about the history of klezmer music, and much of what is said about it must be seen as conjecture.
Most klezmer tunes are in several sections, sometimes with each in a different key. Many songs have alternating sections with major and minor keys.
Avrohom Balti is a Breslover Hasid from Jerusalem and a student of Avrum Burstein. a well-known Israeli klezmer revivalist Avrum Burstein is the founder and leader of the Jerusalem Klezmer Association.
Its mission: to bring together Yiddish and Hebrew melodies originated in Eastern Europe close to a 1000 years ago
Avrohom Balti came to Avrum Burstein at the age of 14, asking him to be taught the secrets of klezmer. Since that day he has become a great clarinetist performing worldwide.
