It so amazing how youtubers on biology are saving our a**. They explain way better than our professors in classes. They just throw the lessons on our faces like dirty laundry and we have to sorte them out by ourselves. My classmate just send me this video to watch and I like it. Your explanation is clear like crystal. Thanks I appreciate it 🙏
You managed make me do something I've never done before. Sit through a whole histology presentation. If it was always taught like this there'd be a lot more histologists! 👏🏽👏🏽
Medlife Crisis Yyyyeeeesssss my dastardly plan is working 😈😈. Related, there are some very fun histology Instagram accounts out there. Nothing too serious, more “hey, this looks like Mickey Mouse” than “hey, this looks like cancer”
The comparison of kids lined up at recess with their different heights and pseudostratified columnar epithelium made SO MUCH SENSE to me. I can’t thank you enough. This is the hardest thing I’ve ever tried to understand
Im a pre nursing student trying to learn all of this online. I had no idea how to decipher any of these until this video so THANK YOU!!! You saved my life and now I understand my lab portion.
Your page is AMAZING!!!!! I am two weeks into my anatomy class with an exam this coming Tuesday on 4 Chapters including LAB. To say I am lost and confused is an understatement lol. However, your videos are truly helping me understand this stuff. I can cry from happiness. I hope everyone struggling comes across your page. Wonderful resource.
My 3 yo asked, “how did tissue get in your body?” I explained to her that it wasn’t like the tissues we use in the bathroom and immediately came to RUclips. I’m so glad we stumbled across your video. She loved it and learned many things. Thank you.
Interesting data: - organism > organs > tissues > cells - 4 types of tissues: muscles, epithalial, nervous, and connective - subtypes for each tissue type + nomenclature is presented quickly - very clear and entertaining video for an educational video --> good inspiration
I'm taking anatomy and the way the teacher explains it feels overwhelming to me, she doesn't break down the word like "striated" and "pseudostratified" and how simple squamous means one layer of flat cells, it helps so much how this professor makes it easier for us to understand what is what. And the pictures too, thank you so much for making histology interesting and learnable!!(:
On Monday I was told we were having a lab exam on Wednesday that was going to include histology despite having a 30min lecture. I was extremely lost and worried, but finding you has been a blessing. So thank you for teaching me, you're going to get me through this A&P class 🙏🏻
THE PRODUCTION VALUE OF THIS IS SO GOOD! Oh my lord! The classroom resources I get don't even hold a candle to how efficiently you explain concepts- and with those spicy graphics-!
Thank you for this amazing video, I have a lab practical coming up on all this that is going to involve a lot of photos of tissues and skin layers that I must identify. People like you make these classes so much easier to get through, thanks.
I'm a week late to Histology this summer, so this is really helping me out. Thank you SO SO SO MUCH for breaking it down like this, including pictures, and explaining the meanings of the names. Rote memory seems to be the charm for me, but I'm also relying on photographic memory (thus the visuals with text body works wonders for my brain.) Much Aloha!!!
Thanks for teaching and explaining this in a more simpler way. Been having a hard time understanding this but you make everything easier. THANK YOU SIR.. ❤👏
Im after my first year of veterinary medicine. Ive passed histology exams which were parted by theortical and practical exam few days ago and im so proud of that ( for me it was way harder than anatomy ) thanks for your videos. Best wishes :D
So far ive watched two of your videos and i love them because you are clear, concise and talk at a good pace -- easy to understand. I'm studying for the MCAT so this helps a ton! Thank you !🙂
Hei Patrick, I just discovered you channel and I'm loving it. I would be very appreciated to have a "Pathology for Beginners" playlist just like this one "Histology for Beginners" !. I am looking a lot in youtube and I couldn't find a very well-described and explained videos like yours. That would be very helpful! Thank you! Subscribed!
I really want to thank you for creating this videos. You make it much easier for me to remember my tissue learning time and makes me happy subscribe in ur channel.
Ohh man, making that video would take ages! There are quite a few types of cells out there. If you are interested in that much detail, I'd recommend looking up the Human Cell Atlas project. If you're looking for a summary, I'd recommend watching more detailed histology videos
May I know, is it ok to include photo from textbook in our video? Sorry very thankful if someone answer me... Or is it Ok to draw the photo. Or will I get sued...
Hi there, I'm happy to help. I get all my histology photos from photos in the public domain or that are licensed as Creative Commons. If you email me at patkellyteaches@gmail.com, I'm happy to share links to those photos, especially with other educators!
Thanks for this video. I've been a big fan of yourself and Sawbones for several years, and recently made a channel on the History of Medicine in order to contribute to medical knowledge on youtube. My dream is to be as big as you someday! Would appreciate the support!
Ah yes. Epithelia, bones and connective stuff, muscles and nerves. I think. Dunno, literally studying for Med school rn. Might be wrong, but this is my guess before watching

Oooooh, good question! I did an undergrad degree for athletic training (sports medicine) then worked in healthcare for about 5 years before realizing I wanted to teach this material, not practice it. I'd say I really started *devoting* myself to learning how to teach this stuff at age 25, while I was already years into my career.
I understand tissues. I can memorize the different types of tissues, their functions, and locations. But I CAN NOT for the life of me figure out what they all look like because they all look the damn same and my teacher told me “epithelial tissue has a lumen but connective tissue doesn’t, what look like lumen on the connective tissue are actually cells” well let me tell you the lumen and cells look IDENTICAL and then she told me to look at the nuclei within the actual tissue to be able to tell where the cells are...but BOTH pictures of the tissues have nuclei that isn’t in the white part (the white part is the lumen/cell I’m talking abt) also because we were looking at adipose tissue which has fats and oils in the cells, the nucleus is pushed to the side so you can’t even see it under the microscope😑 There’s no way for me to differentiate them. I give up.
Omg! You’re soooo good . I watched my teacher’s video of 1 hr: 30minutes still didn’t get it. Your video’s explanation made it so easier. Thank you!!!🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
