The Rolex Oyster Perpetual Cosmograph Daytona 116523 is encased in 40mm of stainless steel surrounding a black dial on a stainless steel and 18k yellow gold Oyster bracelet. Features of this Rolex Daytona include 100-meter water resistance, COSC Swiss chronometer certification, 72-hour power reserve, hours, minutes, small seconds and chronograph. This Rolex watch also measures 12.3mm in thickness and 46.5mm from lug-to-lug.

I could careless what anyone thinks but this watch is literally the perfect watch from every aspect. Steel and gold Daytona. Not one thing I’d change.
Making the rings of the subdials golden - thankfully, they just did that with the new 126503 reference 🎉
I prefer the older Daytona than the newer one.... starting to like old skool timepieces.
The new model with the solid golden sub dials on black dial is gonna be a winner. Sold my 2007 Daytona but feel I need the new 2023 version… or maybe the GMT Jubilee TT ? Decisions….lol

Is this actually discontinued? I can see it on the Rolex website? If so, do you know what changes were made?
I think movement. New one is 116503 with caliber 4130. This older 116523 has the caliber 4030 if i'm not wrong.
The tachymeter bezel markings are also different.
What changes were made to the newer 116503? (Besides the tachometer triangles)
Just bezel, they made font bolder and different orientation (almost curved along the bezel). Older models of the 116523 also have different clasp, etching of "rolex" so that would also be different depending on what year of 116523 it is.
I actually have a question. Yesterday I orderd a submariner yellow gold / steel with black dial. Today I wore the daytona and the sky dweller of my dad (the same as yours but with a white dial, the skydweller is yellow gold / steel with a black dial) and iam woundering if the sub is to big for me since the skydweller (42mm) seems way to big and the daytona (40mm) just right. The sub would be at 41mm.
So the question is, should i still go for the sub or order the daytona in your spec?

In the end it comes to a preference of dial and design. The Submariner will not wear like a true 41, and will feel closer to a 40, at least it did for me. In my opinion, the Daytona and Sub wear. similarly.
