Uberti 1860 Army Revolver Made in 2023 YouTube Acceptable Video

- In this video I’ll be checking out a newly manufactured Uberti 1860 Army revolver.
I’ll be comparing this gun that was built in 2023 to the same model made 25 years earlier in 1998 to see if Uberti’s quality has changed in 25 years.
Then will take it out to the range.
I made some modifications that allowed paper cartridges to be easily loaded in the Uberti 1860 revolver. I also made some other modifications that improved the function and reliability of this gun.
Unfortunately, RUclips considers gun modifications to be evil, and I don’t want the video taken down.
So, if you want to see these mods, you can watch the full version of this video on Rumble.

Good Morning Mr. Mike. I did not stick around on RUclips because I wanted to know all of what you did to this 1860, so I shuffled off to Rumble. It's a sad time for America to be forced to flee to safe havens because of a minority of people who are attempting to remove the rights of others. Rights that are clearly spelled out in our Constitution. 👍Thumbs up to you Mr. Mike for trying.
You must understand, the leading Bolsheviks who took over Russia were not Russians. They hated Russians. They hated Christians. Driven by ethnic hatred they tortured and slaughtered millions of Russians without a shred of human remorse. It cannot be overstated. Bolshevism committed the greatest human slaughter of all time. The fact that most of the world is ignorant and uncaring about this enormous crime is proof that the global media is in the hands of the perpetrators."

Here in Italy there are not a lot of BP shooters, sadly. Most of the production goes to the US and often the guns sold here have US marks as well because when you order One Uberti Just pick One ready for the US and sell It on the italian market. Not a big deal, i like those marks. I'm allways amazed by the quality of those guns, they are quite cheap for our market, but they are made with passion and up in Gardone they are proud of theyr works, another advantage Is if you Need a replacement or anything you can give them a call and they Will gladly solve the problem. Uberti and pedersoli are in a race between who can provide the best customer service, at least seems to me :)
Piettas customer service is better you can at least get replacement parts for free from emf.
@@HircineDaWolfYou that EMF was bought out by Pietta. I have a pair of cartridge Colt SAs for CAS from EMF and they are excellent.
@@tomcurran8470 emf is their us point of contact for customer service and parts
I don't know what we'd do without the Italians. So few companies in the US are willing to make affordable reproductions of the guns that defined our heritage, and our nation. And Italians practically make all of them. Uberti, Peitta, Chiappa, Pedersoli. I salute them all.
Viva Italia! @@Deadener
Ah morning coffee and duelist vids nothing better ☕️☕️☕️👍🏻👍🏻
It would be great if every gun owner maintained their equipment like you do. 25 years old and it looks new.
I too went to Rumble to see the mods. Came back here to like and comment just to give the middle finger to RUclips. Don’t give up the fight.
I hate to see little Roy starting off on the wrong path in life, hopefully he got your point although im betting, like his bigger brother it might take more persuasion. That new uberti is absolutely gorgeous.
everybody remember to always LIKE and SHARE , lets keep our man circulating
I never came across a full auto 1860 revolver!! Sad commentary these days....thx for the video!
Well some do have the 'volley' fire feature. Chain fire when not loading correctly.
That is a real pistol. Thank you for this demonstrational and informational media piece.
I got a McCullough model .44 Uberti 1860 Army brand new, in it's oily bag, inside factory box with card and manual at a gun show for 275. and LOVE IT!! Great piece of history and shoots super accurate!
Mike is literally a gentleman and a scholar.
The 1860 is the sleekest looking of all the C&B revolvers and has the most comfortable grip. I was given an old ASM 1860 Colt (imported by CVA) parts gun. It needed replacement internals that aren't available anymore, but I wanted it for the gripframe anyway.
I know it's not historically accurate at all, but I had a short barreled Pietta brass frame 1851 Colt .44 in the safe. After a lot of fitting, I made the steel 1860 gripframe fit on my 1851. So now my historically inaccurate 1851 is even more historically inaccurate, but it sure feels good in my hand!
Keep up the great videos, and as always, good luck with the legal fight.
Greetings sir, I've been shooting traditional muzzleloaders for 25 years and 2 years ago I found a Uberti 1860 army and from watching your videos I began the journey of cap and ball revolvers alas to my dismay I have not been able find any #10 caps and again your videos gave me the option of slixshot cones, I found them and placed my order and received them just today and installed them, took my accoutrements to the range and was finally able to shoot my revolver with #11 caps (that I have several of) and realize the joy of cap and ball revolver shooting, thank you for your many instructional videos and insightful information.
Thanks Mike, glad to see you prevailing. :-)
Oh No Mike! I have a 1995 Pietta 1860 Army and seeing this Lovely new Army you have,,,,well I’m still working on buying a 1862 Police! Then I saw a 1851 Navy at a gun shop (my 1976 Pietta has a brass frame) with a steel frame, octagon barrel, real pretty and I almost bought it! Since I already have one and Love my Army better, well as is said, so many guns and so little time and money. Thank You So Much Mike, your sharing of your knowledge and histories is not only entertaining but super interesting as well. For myself, research and history is half the delight! As I often say as when I shoot my 1829 N. Starr, its like shooting history. I’ve always felt blessed to be able to work with my hands and make most anything I set my mind to. I know you appreciate this as well. And I believe you’ll agree that this allows us to be far more aware and appreciate our Ancestors and the abilities and energies needed to make everything needed. And as many have become very tired of censoring, going against our 1st Amendment, YT is only hurting itself! Shame on them! I had to comment on this. Kind Thanks Again Mike! One day I hope our paths will meet at some gun show or historical event and I can Thank You Personally! Many Blessings, Good Shootin and take it easy cuz ya know how ya are! A phrase a friend in Kentucky would say when I lived in the mountains a few years back in the 60s. DaveyJO in Pennsylvania
I hope you win and win big.
That's really a beautiful revolver! Greetings from Italy! ❤👋🏼
thank you, learning how to make these work better, always worth going to Rumble
Morning duelist
I always heard Little Roy was the guy who spent the day with your wife while you were away at work but, when you arrived home in the afternoon and entered thru your front door to be greeted by your wife, you thought you heard a whoosh sound of air from someone leaving thru the back door but wasn't sure what you heard.
Well, that was "Little Roy" leaving!
i havent watched any of your content before but this was good info for me on this revolver, thank you for the great commentary and shooting
Thank you Mike! You are a fine example of what makes the shooting community such a great one. You are a treasure of information, knowledge, experience, kindness, and willingness to help others! You certainly have earned the respect I have for you Sir. I have wanted to get into cap & ball revolver shooting for years, so I’m happy to see things have actually gotten better in quality. Thanks for another great video. Both informative and entertaining. Best wishes to you and your family Sir. Thanks again. ✌️🇺🇸
Good morning from Syracuse NY brother and no surrender brother I am sharing your videos with like minded people
Thats one handsome looking 1860, love the fact that it's a civilian model too ! Great video as always thank you for sharing,
my first 1860 Uberti was bought used and it did not have shoulder stock screws like this new one. I can’t stand those screws and am glad to see they still make these guns without them.
I feel the same way.
I had an old .22 revolver that ALWAYS shot about a foot high like this pistol too. I fixed that by adding about a 1/8" thick copper strip over the front sight blade with some epoxy and it shot right on the money after that. I left the very back end of the copper bright and shiny for a good sight bead and covered the front up with black dye so it wouldn't stand out.
Mike, I believe that your new revolver is the “civilian “ version of the 1860, without the forth screw, or cuts in the recoil shield for the detachable stock, and so the brass backstrap is correct.
I have a pair of the 1860's that I got from Taylors about 6-7 years ago. I got the charcoal blued version. I love them. Great quality and craftsmanship, and they shoot well also! Nice video.
Mike, have you considered using Kaido Ojamaa's 255/240/220 grain Universal Bullets in a combustible paper cartridge (or even simply by themselves) in your upcoming shooting videos?
Mike, you didn't measure the most important dimensions of that pistol. You didn't measure the arbor length or the BC gap. Everyone knows Uberti can make pretty guns but Pietta is the only one to make them mechanically sound.
Funny story... 5 years ago when buying my first Remington i had a dylema wheater i should but a pietta or uberti (pietta felt much better in my hand) in the end i ended up with ubertii, and was hard broken after the first visit to the range and finding out how many technical flaws it had. Last year i bought a colt police pocket from ubertii, and i wasn't fully happy aswell... Parts don't actually fit well and parts are actually squized together do when i unscrew it all parts that don't have springs connect to them shoots out faster and further then it throws leed balls on 20 gr powder charge. This year i bought a piece from pieta (spiller and burt) and it is a master piece in comparisson... Everything fits perfectly, it lays in my hand perfectly, and the mechanism works like a switz clock... So im not entirely sure, why everyone hype Uberti so much... The only good Uberti replica that i did own was a 1873 winchester carabine...
Mike have you considered using a dash cam for the spoken parts at the range. You could sit in the pickup in comfort and the range shooting would be less annoying.
Thanks for the vid been watching for a decade perhaps. I love them all. Excellent work and good luck of course may the 2nd prevail 🎉
Hey hoss, i got a bit excited when you said .n Hopewell. I shoot at Hopewell vfw. We also have had issues with anti 2a townies. We won we will have no new issues for 100 years. Unfortunately you are 4 hours away so our chances of enjoying the smoker's together are slim unless youre in the burgh and let me know. Love your work and knowledge. Thank you and God bless you brother
You've sold me. My next purchase. This will be my second BP and it will probably be a very long time if I ever buy another Pietta after that recent fiasco.
Well, another pleasurable visit to the range with you. Nice review of the Uberti too.
Thanks Mike, now I have a Rumble account!
Thank you .
Those RWS caps have really saved the day for us cap-and-ball revolver shooters. They are rather pricey, but then again, without them your revolvers are just fancy looking paper weights. Yes, you can make your own, but what a time consuming process. I would rather be shooting.
That's a great looking gun and it shoots great too! I have yet to go out and shoot my 1851 Navy i got from Taylor's, but this really motivates me!
Watched this on Rumble. I wanted the scary version that RUclips will not allow. Good presentation Mike.
This channel is pure gold :)
I heard Pietta has intorduced new methods of revolver manufacturing and their models are more consistent now. Any chance for similar video of Pietta's 1860? Maybe someone of your colleagues got one recently?
Being its has the brass backstrap, it would be cool to nickel or silver plate the brass backstrap and trigger guard. Like how most original 51 navys, Backstrap and trigger guard were silver plated . Its very easy and cheap to do at home. All you need is a DC powder Source, white Vinegar and nickel or silver. There are lots of videos on RUclips how to do it. Uberti has been doing a great job. But Pietta though, most i have seen over the last 2 years are very bad. Everything from lettering on the gun being Crooked, to extremely bad fitted grips. they started lazer engraving the cylinder scene. To me It just looks cheap. Looking forward to seeing your video on the 1860s combat effectiveness.
Mr Mike! *laughs* That first shot ( between the legs miss ) on Lil' Roy would definitely have him jumping and hopping to get out of the way. ;0)
Yup!...sucks to be him...LOL
Awesome replica! It groups very nicely.
Great idea puting links to where we can watch uncensored on each vid. Very simple just use this for a forward 👍‼️😎🤙
Mike I love the little stories about Lil roy or hangin hank or mr Hanz zup. They make me chuckle every time. Keep it up. Hope you recover soon to do that combat effectiveness at different ranges.
The 1860 is my favorite BP revolver. A close second is the Walker.
Just a viewing tip open the rumble video and run it at the same time just mute which ever you are not watching so the views count in both place i like watching the youtube video while the advertising on the rumble video plays in the background muted then i mute the youtube tab and watch the rumble video make them views count. great video sir
Thanks Mike.
Appreciate your videos.
Take care.
I have recently returned to percussion cap revolvers. I owned a Ruger New Army back in the mid to late 80s. Why oh why did I sell it. I now have a Pietta New Army 1860 and most recently an Ubertie 1858. Both are nice but the 1858 is piece of craftsmanship. I follow your channel to learn more about them. Thank you!!
I enjoyed the video this morning Mike and I am looking forward to the combat video thanks
I like the patina on my brass handled 1860. Mine is prior to 2000 also. A Uberti also.
You got the “Civilian Version” 1860 Army. I did the same thing and got this version by mistake before ordering the other version as well.
Nice shooting. Beautiful gun. When a giant organization like RUclips can’t tell the difference between an AR and 1860 we are in serious trouble.
RUclips is going to bud-light themselves right out of a lot of their audience. Most of us are sick and tired of people, who know nothing about anything, censoring what we want to watch. I lived a long time before RUclips came along, and I can live a long time without it, going forward. Best wishes, Mike, from TEXAS!
Great video Mike, as always.
That was a great group you shot on hanging hank thats what you want to see out of every new pistol you buy ....
In line cappers work just fine.
Uberti obviously have a working quality control unlike so many other companies, as I said before I like the look of the Remington better than Colt but that is a good looking gun you bought can see why you didn't want to send it back.
Good video, Mike, although I did like the shop details on the Rumble video--YT is ridiculous. I love those Kerr bullets--I think they shoot better than the J&Ds.
I agree
Well done! To both you & Uberti!
Excellent video Brother! Thanks for posting. Enjoy your beautiful 1860. Thumbs up ~John
Mike, you are the TOP U-Tuber.
Great Video, Mike. I watched the Rumble version. What brand and size tool did you use to chamfer the cylinder chambers?
Thanks RUclips for giving us 2 vids this week, LOL. I'm looking forward to the military trials. Greetings from "Mayberry," NC.
Crap! Now I gotta go get a "new" 1860! It looks great, and performs awesome. Maybe I'll give my Pietta to my Daughter.
Headed over to Rumble to see the REAL video. Thanks Mike!
Mike,
Great video, thanks for the update on the new pistols. Is there any way for you to make an amazon list or something similar to use to find the tools you use the most? for instance the punches to make wads etc.
Thanks for what you do for us
Keep on burning black powder, Mike. You will win your battle for our freedom, too.
Good Morning, I switched over to Rumble. 🙂
Glad you went back to loading five not six.
I watch screw tube only so Mike can get what he can out of them but I watch him on Rumble!!!
Beautiful group on that last target !!!!!👍👍👍👍👍
Hiya mate. There is a other video hosting you can use instead of YT. There is a Telegram, dzen, VK. You should save all your videos from YT and publish it in somewhere else. It seems like they going to castrate YT to a sterile choir boy
I am on Rumble. The full version of this video is up on Rumble
Suggestion for a future video, a shoot off between an 1860 and a Remington concerning which gun will powder foul first.
Would have liked to see you try the Kado Bullet in the paper cartridges. Some of us shoot actual game with our old timers and there is no better bullet for that.
Nice gun, I bought a Pietta 1860 new 2years ago and a Pietta 1858 but haven't done anything to help it load Paper Cart. maybe I'll try these mods as I have the same issues you describe. Where I live I can only get the Rem.#11. The RWS 1075 and 1075+ work well but I can't get them anymore.
My only problem with you birdy is the short or ber but I fix it because I do like the look of their guns got some sweet looking guns and they hide the barrel markings
Beautiful piece! The paper cartridges load faster than .45 Colt cowboy loads would having to remove the barrel and the unloaded drop in conversion cylinder and take the firing pin plate off the back of the cylinder and load 5 cowboy loads and put the firing pin plate back on the back of the cylinder and reinstall the loaded drop in conversion cylinder and the barrel
Thanks just play the algorithm. Going to watch on rumble.
Besides the brass backstrap, I noticed this 2023 Uberti is not cut for a shoulder stock, nor does it have the 4th screw for it. I really wish someone would make shoulder stocks for the Walker and Dragoons.
The shoulder stock is as much as the gun if you can find one
@@HircineDaWolf Yes I know, I have one for my 1860 Pietta, but the Walker and dragoons are so heavy I need one for My Whitneyville Dragoon.
Great to see another video! I'm confused 🤔?? Didn't you just say that none of the original 1860's came with brass back straps?? That one looks brass to me.
Correct. I can't find records of a brass back strap on any original 1860
@@duelist1954 It's good to see you up an about!! When you get our age,,any day north of the dirt is a great day and a gift!!!!
It’s a beauty even with the brass back strap, I do like the fit and finish of Ubertis over Piettas
My Pietta has almost flawless fit and finish but I haven’t compared it to any others
I also have a couple Piettas and love them, my Ubertis are finished better, like the grips being flush with the back strap and trigger guard for example, though it’s minor cosmetics/aesthetics and has nothing to do with performance it does make for a nicer touch for the end user and presents well
Hi Mike I think Uberti firearm has got better I have a 38-40 from 2002 and a Uberti from a couple years ago in 45 Colt and the newer one is fine quality timing is as good as it can be it has lot nicer color case
Didn’t know you were on rumble. Subbed to your channel in both now.
Gorgeous gun!
Good luck in court against the over regulating politicians, I hope you win soundly.
Mike RWS may still be a german company but the CE on the can stands for China Export.
Just ordered a cinnamon 1851 Navy, hoping it's as good quality!
I don't believe Little Roy is going to make it to become Big Roy Jr.
I am on my way over to the Rumble channel to watch your video. I think all gun channels should boycott You Tube .
Awsome vidio. The only thing I enjoy more then watching your videos is shooting my black powder. So much fun.
Mike do you need any boxes. I have dozens of them. Free of course. I just hate to throw them away.
Uby makes to correct size..as pietta are slightly larger built.
I got a Uberti 1851 Navy last year, and there are some manufacturing errors, and the finish is already coming off. It is a good shooter, and I care more about that than the finish. I just thought I would let people know.
Looks like Roy and Hanks next job will be A spaghetti strainer.
Really enjoyed the 1860 video and looking forward to the combat shoot ability of 1860, when I had my Uberti 51 navy a fellow BP shooter with a 1860 always said it was supposed to take a hostile off his horse at 200 paces, we had a lot of fun trying to outshoot each other.
I like that the new revolver doesn't have the provisions for a shoulder stock. Those screw heads sticking out ruin the sleekness of the design and are uncomfortable.
In "A History of the Colt Revolver" on page 103 they show an 1860 with a listed brass backstrap, so apparently there were a few.
I haven’t seen that picture. The only 1860s that had brass back straps, that I am aware of, were very early guns that had 1851 Navy grips.
Book was fist published in 1940 so no color pictures. Looks like long grip, full flutes, and cut for sholder stock. always the possibility of an error.@@duelist1954
