Please don''t donate your things to Goodwill or Salvation Army, they will elevate the price of the things so high that those who need them most cannot afford them. Find a place that support the homeless or battered women and children or places that truly help the less fortunate and donate your things to them.
This is sad but true! The thrift stores up charge on everything, especially the high end name brands! How are you helping people in need?! They couldn’t care less, it’s all about a profit!
I donate to Salvation Army and the items aren’t pricey in my opinion. The money goes to fund their programs and their administrative costs aren’t as high as Red Cross. But everyone is different and should donate as they see fit.
I have been a professional organizer, and here are my suggestions: put 2 white brackets up to hold the shelf above your bins and store whichever piece of luggage will fit there on its side. If the luggage is just shy of fitting, install two thick strips of elastic the width of area with small nails. If the smaller piece can fit into the bigger piece... all the better, and it will free up floor space. Also, the over the door hook that holds your robes could be decluttered and hung on the back of the bedroom door. Lastly, but not really organizing... blow up 3 b&w wedding pictures, put them in gold frames, and hang them on the wall that was shown behind you. Hope that helps!
I just did it a little at a time during the summer it felt so good and free we have so many homeless shelters here in Baltimore that I donate to women and child programs and churches some organizations do over charge but it’s your call may God continue to bless you and Marcus

If I was in my younger days... I'm 42, I wish I would have had continued my "younger days" style and attitude. Don't get "old" fast. Work and home is my life, I'm working on being fun again.
I think these new days and times forced us to be alot more wiser I'm 41 and I feel the same way, alot of things aren't fun anymore. The 90s was the best era.. Things are totally different now.
Just a tip, you can fold your t-shirts & jeans/pants smaller and stack them on their sides, you will have more room and it will be easier to see each piece in those drawers. For your DIY clothing, get 2 totes and hang them behind where you stacked those plastic bins, that way you will get more room in the drawer and when you need DIY clothing you just grab it from the totes. You did a great job keeping those pieces to a minimum. Put those white shoes into a clear zip lock bag so they wont get discolored. Good Job, reminds me that I have this to do as well since, we will soon be heading into our colder months here in WI.
i stopped donate to Goodwill!! I decided to donate my unwanted clothes, shoes and stuffs to Arizona Humane Society which they do have local thrift store. They can sell all of donate stuffs and raise the money for animals in needs!! I think its good cause to help them out!! Maybe you could do this way in your home area!

You did an awesome job! I've been in the decluttering spirit as well. My spirit feels so much lighter. I ordered some vacuum bags off of Amazon and Walmart and put my out of season clothing in after I decluttered. It helped me save so much more space. I kept my empty bins though...lol. Blessings. 💙

I try to do a declutter twice a year and the relief I feel every time is unmatched 😂. The closet looks sooooo so good! I agree that you should move your black grey and brown to the back wall in the closet. Then what you could do is get some command hooks and put a purse or two on each one in that space above the back closet wall. Maybe Marcus could invest in those clear shoeboxes I’ve seen men utilize. It gives a clean and cohesive look. But lol some are attached to their shoeboxes so I get that as well. 😂😂 It was so nice to see more of your personality and playful side in this video. A friend shared with me her rule, buy one item, two have to leave. It works for me with no regrets for my old items. And I donate to homeless shelters instead of goodwill.
I do that, also. When I buy, I get rid of items. I also don't bring junk mail into my house. I throw it away in the trash after checking the mail and any bill has to be paid within 7-10 days. I shop by my weekly menu and pay myself 1st every paycheck. I give to the domestic abuse center and a homeless organization.
Way to go in getting rid of so much. I've done a major declutter in the past but I still have so much without space for it. I know I need to have another conversation with self and let some more things go. 😆 The one thing that I can say is working well is the shoes. I also purchased a 36 pair shoe organizer for my closet door. Not only are they organized and I know everything I have, but I also now follow the practice of 1 in, 1 out. I've walked away from the purchase of several new shoes because I knew I didn't want to get rid of what I have on the closet door. If I do buy a new pair, it's taking the spot of something else. With the exception of boots for Chicago winters, every pair must fit on the closet door.
Watching has reminded me to declutter some more. I highly recommend Marie Kondo’s folding technique, it uses space wisely, stays organised if you keep it up and finding your clothing is simpler. I also liked that clothing I don’t touch is easily accessible to wear or declutter. I like that you organise clothing according to seasons, it really does help you to wear what you have and enjoy what you have and I think it helps to Declutter at the end of a season as well if that’s what you want.

Create open shelves up on the top half of the back wall and put your bags in clear bins with a picture to create even more space. The side that had your shoes can fit another shelf for seasonal stuff in bins. Go up towards the ceiling to maximize space. All the best. It looks great and you have motivated us!

I definitely incorporate the color coordination and splitting the closet. My husband has just as many clothes as me so I use the guest closet as well for seasonal clothing and rotate throughout the season… The shoe rack looks great.
For the clothes you kept , try those vacuum seal bags. They really work and the large ones hold a lot . To where you can putt everything in one bags and takes up less space then the bins or can put the compressed bags in one bin .

Shelters are a great place to donate items. That or a small thrift shop is best to me. I became disenchanted with Goodwill when I tried to donate some items with my grandparents were moving and they were picking through it and said they wouldn't take certain items after opening some of the bags. I will never donate to them again, but of course this is my own personal experience with goodwill.
I need to do this sooo bad but I’m such a hoarder 😅 I get it from my mama & grandma. I’m just such a “I’ll have this when I need it” and that need never comes 😂 but the urge to keep is much stronger than the urge to get rid of!

Hey Kayla, I love your channel. I have a tight closet like yours. I color coordinate also, but I put all the pants seperate, then a few cardigans and then all my blouses together. My jeans are at the top of my closet folded. Then I have sweaters that I don't want to get out of shape in clear underbed totes. Like you I have an older home the closets are not large. Just a suggestion. ❤
I have to purge my closet. I just put everything in garbage bags and throw them out on bulk day. I use to try to donate them but I find that I'm back in the bags before I get to take them to donate. So the last two times I decluttered, the day before bulk day I gather and throw.
Kayla this is so motivating. I have been planning to de-clutter and clean my closet for about 2 years now. I haven't done it because I need to change my storage options and create more storage options. The ones I have aren't working for me so I need to do something different and get rid of SO MANY CLOTHES and SHOES that I could start a whole store. Seriously! It's so overwhelming tho! I just don't know where to start with it all. I will need to pack up boxes upon boxes to get rid of it all. But this at least brings it to my memory so I'll have to see if I ever do it this time.
I am also in the process of decluttering my life after moving. We are all so conditioned to be consumers until it becomes too much. We're all living in mini stores lol I plan on selling most of my things and donating but yeah, it's a must. Great video!

Hi sis I donate my clothes to my church. We give items away along with the food pantry. I stopped giving to certain places because they charge just as much as retail stores. Also, I have donated to women shelters. Local Veterans Hospitals. I was thinking why Marcus don’t use the guest room closet? My daughters always buy me MK bags and I have the same situation. I was thinking about getting pocketbook bags and put them in a tote. One thing I do to keep the shape of the bags is put my scarves or winter hats, gloves inside the bags. When you said what God told you about getting your house in order he told me this years ago. It’s physical and spiritual. We are the church. Please continue to share your journey. Oh i love a spring clean! i do this once per year; if I've not used it or thought about it or even touched it in one year i get rid of in January! Not spring i know but i get emotionally attached to things and it forces me to purge and it can live with someone else. I think in Jan 25 i am going to get rid of my living room TV which ive watched for 4 weekends this year so far but only when younger cousin's have come for a babysitter! Id rather invest in a good separates system with a turntable as im a music person and a book at night more than TV.
I’m assuming those are your hubbies sneakers in the boxes…..if they are you could maybe buy the clear boxes that stack on top of each other and house the shoes. Typically normal packaging takes up more space than shoe organizers. The container store is expensive but they have them cheaper at other places. I think Temu even has them. They also have the pieces that look like furniture but the piece opens to showcase your shoes. Could you add a shelf in the middle for your purses? Or if you decide to use the shelf you already have you could use those acrylic shelf dividers so the purses would stand up straight. Just ideas
When you declutter your home, everything else in your life seems to fall in your place. It's God way of giving you peace. Maybe you and Marcus's next D.I.Y. project will be your bedroom closet.
Hey girl great video one thing that helped me a lot is organizing by season and by color helped a lot. My summer clothes are usually in a bin in basement in the colder months and visa versa in the summer.
When you fold and stack you cannot see what you have. If you roll your clothes and line them up, you can select what you want easier. Plus it takes up less space. Works well for suitcase packing as well. I hang up all my pants. You can get the hangers that have one top connection and the rest hang down. 🥰🇨🇦

Have you considered vacuum compressed storage bags? They are a good alternative to storage bins. They take up less space.

You may want to consider adding a support bracket to the middle of your clothes rod to prevent it sagging or breaking. I had to do that in my closet.

For the clothes you kept , try those vacuum seal bags. They really work and the large ones hold a lot . To where you can putt everything in one bags and takes up less space then the bins or can put the compressed bags in one bin .

Shelters are a great place to donate items. That or a small thrift shop is best to me. I became disenchanted with Goodwill when I tried to donate some items with my grandparents were moving and they were picking through it and said they wouldn't take certain items after opening some of the bags. I will never donate to them again, but of course this is my own personal experience with goodwill.

Hey Kayla, I love your channel. I have a tight closet like yours. I color coordinate also, but I put all the pants seperate, then a few cardigans and then all my blouses together. My jeans are at the top of my closet folded. Then I have sweaters that I don't want to get out of shape in clear underbed totes. Like you I have an older home the closets are not large. Just a suggestion. ❤

I have to purge my closet. I just put everything in garbage bags and throw them out on bulk day.
I use to try to donate them but I find that I'm back in the bags before I get to take them to donate.
So the last two times I decluttered, the day before bulk day I gather and throw.

Kayla this is so motivating. I have been planning to de-clutter and clean my closet for about 2 years now. I haven't done it because I need to change my storage options and create more storage options. The ones I have aren't working for me so I need to do something different and get rid of SO MANY CLOTHES and SHOES that I could start a whole store. Seriously! It's so overwhelming tho! I just don't know where to start with it all. I will need to pack up boxes upon boxes to get rid of it all. But this at least brings it to my memory so I'll have to see if I ever do it this time.
I am also in the process of decluttering my life after moving. We are all so conditioned to be consumers until it becomes too much. We're all living in mini stores lol I plan on selling most of my things and donating but yeah, it's a must. Great video!

Hi sis I donate my clothes to my church. We give items away along with the food pantry. I stopped giving to certain places because they charge just as much as retail stores. Also, I have donated to women shelters. Local Veterans Hospitals. I was thinking why Marcus don’t use the guest room closet? My daughters always buy me MK bags and I have the same situation. I was thinking about getting pocketbook bags and put them in a tote. One thing I do to keep the shape of the bags is put my scarves or winter hats, gloves inside the bags.

Oh i love a spring clean! i do this once per year; if I've not used it or thought about it or even touched it in one year i get rid of in January! Not spring i know but i get emotionally attached to things and it forces me to purge and it can live with someone else. I think in Jan 25 i am going to get rid of my living room TV which ive watched for 4 weekends this year so far but only when younger cousin's have come for a babysitter! Id rather invest in a good separates system with a turntable as im a music person and a book at night more than TV.
are you guys going to Japan? Also, for Marcus's side you can get rid of the sneaker boxes and put the sneakers into acrylic showcase boxes

I’m assuming those are your hubbies sneakers in the boxes…..if they are you could maybe buy the clear boxes that stack on top of each other and house the shoes. Typically normal packaging takes up more space than shoe organizers. The container store is expensive but they have them cheaper at other places. I think Temu even has them. They also have the pieces that look like furniture but the piece opens to showcase your shoes. Could you add a shelf in the middle for your purses? Or if you decide to use the shelf you already have you could use those acrylic shelf dividers so the purses would stand up straight. Just ideas

Hey girl great video one thing that helped me a lot is organizing by season and by color helped a lot. My summer clothes are usually in a bin in basement in the colder months and visa versa in the summer.

When you fold and stack you cannot see what you have. If you roll your clothes and line them up, you can select what you want easier. Plus it takes up less space. Works well for suitcase packing as well. I hang up all my pants. You can get the hangers that have one top connection and the rest hang down. 🥰🇨🇦
