Hi micheal I am new to northern midwest but I love your videos.I am a fisherman that loves to fly fish but whatever it takes I can have fun at it.I rye my own flies and build my rods.Have fishes for everything from bluegill to chinook salmon with a fly in California.we now live in northern wyoming.I recently introduced my wife to fly fishing and glad to say she is getting the hang of it.We both enjoy all your videos and especially the you and Marcus fishing ones.you sure know how to have fun and that’s what it is all about.Would love to meet you guys sometime. Thanks for the fun.
When you cook a fish like that. Soak it in milk for 30 mins to a hour, also clean really well. Since they are small, they will have a stronger flavor in there meat. I love using a Cajun fish fry fry batter and some red lobster seasoning. When I fry fish.
Yes do more fishing we fish a lot of trout in Central pa grilling fish takes ot more oils in meat makes better taste absolutely love all the episodes keep up the good work
Y’all need to come to Georgia do some crappie fishing in state lakes great fishing in public lakes crappie, catfish, panfish strippers largemouth bass ,smallmouth and many others. I have health problems don’t do much hunting anymore but fish and watch hunting videos thanks enjoy them
Fishing is just like hunting. It takes a lot of preparation, persistence, and patience. Do yall have salmon up there? I know somewhere north of Gunnison , CO there's a chinook salmon fishery. Would like to see a fly trip for inland salmon.
Smoke them next time. Peel the meet off...use to make a trout dip. Phenomenal. If you do a foil pack like that put a little lemon slice in with salt and pepper.
Grayling flesh degrades fast. The best way to cook it is to have your pan hot before you catch one. They are pretty good if you eat them on the riverbank but taking them home whole was a mistake.
If you bleed the fish...ie - cut the gills and let them bleed out, that "fishy" taste is reduced. You don't just bleed Walleye, you should bleed all fish.
My all time favorite lake in MT! Grew up fishing the lakes in that area, and there are several in that area that are amazing! If you hike up the canyon about 7 miles from trailhead at end of road you’ll be catching cutthroats that get upwards of 20”!
Montana has native grayling, most pronounced on the Big Hole River south of Butte. Additional populations are found on the Ruby River; lesser numbers on the Madison. Unfortunately those are in the central region which is catch and release only for Grayling. Can you say what lake this was? Or general area? No I’m not with FWP 😁 I’d just like to know where I can catch some to eat.
There's a few lakes in CO that had grayling which I'm interested in catching. Maybe just use butter, not oil? Can't see how you could go wrong with butter, salt and pepper in a cast iron skillet..?? Definitely would like more fishing videos.
I'm trying to get into fly fishing grew up on spin cast. Salmon eggs, power bait and night crawlers. I also spearfished a bit and want to get into bow fishing if you are looking for content suggestions
Fished the Gallatin just outside of Big Sky years ago and caught a few grayling. Stopped at Gallatin River Guides and was told that the Montana DNR was reintroducing the graying to several Montana rivers. An unexpected treat. I got a nice pic and slipped the little guy back in the water. Size #16 elk hair caddis did the trick.
I live in Michigan, and 1 of our northern cities was named after the Grayling. Michigan DNR IS in the process of re-introducing 1 of our native trout species ( Grayling ), which has been non-existent for over 100 years. I've fished Montana for gargling and find it a very fascinating fish. Thanks for the video Randy, Michael & Marcus
Nice work. AZ Game and Fish says that there are still Grayling in some of the lakes in the White Mountains here in Arizona but I've never been able to catch one.
Glad to see you guys didn't get fired! Foil wrap steams-out the blood (at least that's what I was taught) like over a fire and breading holds everything in. Thanks for sharing. Can't wait to see what's next.
When the day comes that I go to Montana for fun rather than work, this will probably be the first thing I do up around Whitefish. Then hit Flathead/Glacier, over to the Mo, then down to Bozeman for the Gallatin and Madison...then finally back West for the Clark Fork and St. Regis. Maybe I can bum a ride for Walleye with Randy? lol
Very fun! I think we need to see a video of someone teaching Marcus how to filet 😂. But in all seriousness. I think more fly fishing along with some tips and tricks for beginners would be really cool.
Good frying fish would be panfish bass walleye catfish etc kinda your eastern species but usually your northern and western species you want to grill they don’t ever taste near as good fried
The blood is normally what will make a fish taste "fishy." If I had to guess its because when you were filleting the grayling the pieces were small enough to where the blood could soak the meat whereas when you cook it whole the blood stays in the bloodline.
Randy's sense of humor always cracks me up, just like the intro to the ice fishing and the first turkey hunting video. Who wouldn't want to work for someone who wants you to go turkey hunting, bear hunting, trout and grayling fishing. I am sure the new guy will fit right in whenever he is announced. I have enjoyed the Fins & Feather Spring Film Tour (no Fur in the title, but hunting even bear hinting is tough and I always appreciate you guys being transparent about that) of 2019. I hope to see more fly fishing videos, Montana has some of the most renowned fly fishing waters for trout and other fish in the whole world let alone the United States of America. I didn't know that Marcus and Michael knew how to fly cast and fish, that is awesome and ridiculously cool. When Randy gets back, perhaps he will have to give Marcus a lesson on how to proper fillet a fish the ole Minnesotan way, even if it isn't a walleye. I watched that video back in the archives too. I didn't know that Montana had grayling in its waters, that makes the state even more appealing now if one can imagine that. I thought they were only in Alaska, British Columbia, etc... but Montana is on the border so it makes some sense with restocking efforts. I have heard that they taste good. Thanks for sharing guys. Good luck in your next on your own adventure.
I love fly fishing. It’s the best challenge. I suggest you go and google Gordon Ramsey on how to fillet a fish or deer meat for dinner. The first fish is fishy probably because it was a fattier fish. For one you need a very sharp knife. If you think it’s sharp it’s not. Lol. Good video.
I think I fished that lake...had some bites but didn't get my first grayling until last week in Saskatchewan. No grayling that trip but I did see a mountain goat nearby!
It's about time you got something wild this Spring! I routinely out catch my fly fishing friends and family when fishing for trout and grayling in high mountain lakes using spin rigs. To be fair, I have not seriously committed to fly fishing the same spots. Nice work guys, good job cooking Marcus! Randy, I know accountants stay busy, but get out and on film, I miss seeing you.
For fishy flavor. I'd suggest cleaning earlier and taking as much of the scales off as possible. When you open them up anything that has a blood or black look scrape it out. That's where that flavor is leaching in.
Great video guys! The hunting off season vids are fun to watch and y'all make them entertaining. There's a bunch of good tips for the cooking in the comments. Two things to add. First bonking cleaning and cooking the lake/stream side will have a remarkable improvement in flavor. I don't get into grayling in my part of CO but we chow a lot of fish tacos with bowls an browns. Second try some Tony C's for a cajun style seasoning. Thanks and keep up the good work.
they need to be grilled with aluminum foil, cover with slices of onion and fresh Lemons ... and couple chunks of butter on top. Seasoning with lawrys seasoning salt & pepper directly on fish .
More fly fishing videos, guys! Marcus...sharpen your filet knife. You destroyed that thing! Practice on more fish, obtained by doing more fishing vids. You'll get it. Glad you still have your jobs! Thanks for the fishing footage, though the electronic music is not a favorite here.
Congrats guys I plan on going for Grayling soon caught some big cutthroat this weekend. Oh and if you overcook the fish it can taste more fishy. Also depends one the seasoning.
Like pretty much any outdoor vids your guys produce... hunting or fishing. Congrats on the Grayling, they are a neat fish. I've caught them in Alaska but never lower 48. To me they are similar to a Whitefish.
Fishing vids are cool!! Guys gotta learn how to fillet fish. I mean since you guys sucked it up at bear hunting you gotta give us something lol. Keep up the good work!!!
Their meat is a little more firm/grainy than trout, good eating fish. Slap a little butter in the belly cavity, wrap in foil and cook for five minutes on either side on the grill. Split the back, finish splitting from the vent to the tail and lift the skeleton off the meat, flip it over and lift the skeleton off the meat. A little fresh lemon juice, and good to go. That's how I did 'em in Alaska years ago.
I do both spin caster and fly fishing. But Just anything to get me outdoors. Hunting too! Keep up the good work guys.
Excellent video thanks for sharing...
I’ve always dreamed of having a job where my boss would say “If you don’t go fishing you won’t get a paycheck!”. Love these videos!!
Under water shots are so sick
awesome
Brought back memories! Exactly the same lake in Montana. What a hike! Beautiful scenery! Caught several grayling on the fly. Thank you for sharing!
When you cook a fish like that. Soak it in milk for 30 mins to a hour, also clean really well. Since they are small, they will have a stronger flavor in there meat. I love using a Cajun fish fry fry batter and some red lobster seasoning. When I fry fish.
Yes do more fishing we fish a lot of trout in Central pa grilling fish takes ot more oils in meat makes better taste absolutely love all the episodes keep up the good work
Just moved to billings and I would love to see more fishing content as there are lots of fish here you can't catch in Nebraska.
Great episode guys. Was cool to watch. Thanks
Y’all need to come to Georgia do some crappie fishing in state lakes great fishing in public lakes crappie, catfish, panfish strippers largemouth bass ,smallmouth and many others. I have health problems don’t do much hunting anymore but fish and watch hunting videos thanks enjoy them
+1 on the fishing.
And looking forward to more vids!
I like the honest answers on the taste test!
im starting fly fishing
Worm fishing at delmo

Looks like payday is coming!!
What’s the best place to go to catch Grayling around bozeman?
If you bleed the fish...ie - cut the gills and let them bleed out, that "fishy" taste is reduced. You don't just bleed Walleye, you should bleed all fish.
My non expert opinion would be on the grill it doesn’t sit in the oil and grease to absorb the fishy smell... completely wild guess haha
Randy, where is this lake ?
When i go back, im going to tag out early, drink beer and do this for the rest of week.... in a perfect world... lol
Almost looks like musicbrod but I think you can drive to musicbrod.
Fly fishing! Enjoyed the videos. Thanks guys!
My all time favorite lake in MT! Grew up fishing the lakes in that area, and there are several in that area that are amazing! If you hike up the canyon about 7 miles from trailhead at end of road you’ll be catching cutthroats that get upwards of 20”!
That was fun. What rig do you suggest for a new novice fly fisherman? Looking to dip my toe into the fly fisherman waters.
Oh, that's Agnes Lake. Grayling were planted there years ago, it's a healthy fishery.
Agnes Lake, above Browne's Lake.
Dudes, just take me along!!!.........I don't care if I work the whole time as a low menial laborer, just take me!!!
Is that park lake?
nope
There's a few lakes in CO that had grayling which I'm interested in catching. Maybe just use butter, not oil? Can't see how you could go wrong with butter, salt and pepper in a cast iron skillet..?? Definitely would like more fishing videos.

You might be frying them in previously used grease/oil.
I am at a loss of words🤓. My boys and I absolutely love your show. Keep it going.

Loved the video ....glad you get a paycheck this month😄😄..fish looks good, yummy
Never caught this fish! Cool stuff
Well done. Love the blend of hunting and fishing.
Fly rig all day!

We’re just starting to leave winter behind in Colorado, so seeing some backcountry fly fishing is some good vicarious living right now.
The blood is normally what will make a fish taste "fishy." If I had to guess its because when you were filleting the grayling the pieces were small enough to where the blood could soak the meat whereas when you cook it whole the blood stays in the bloodline.
Great film guys. Please do some more fishing vids. The footage of the grayling chasing the fly was awesome!
Hey guys I love the fishing! I'm more of a spinner guy but any fishing content is a lot of fun. Thank you!
Randy's sense of humor always cracks me up, just like the intro to the ice fishing and the first turkey hunting video. Grayling are a lot of fun to catch on the fly. We have some populations down here in Colorado
I love fly fishing. It’s the best challenge.

I think I fished that lake...had some bites but didn't get my first grayling until last week in Saskatchewan. No grayling that trip but I did see a mountain goat nearby!

It's good to see a mix of hunting and fishing in your videos now. I've always been the spinning rod kind of guy. Would love to see more of it.
Great content! More fishing videos
Nice, more flyfishing videos
yay catch and cook

best way to cook graylings is to smoke them over fire with juniper bush, i always do that when i catch them.
More fishing. Wish my boss would tell me to go fishing.
Well, appears you have another paycheck to be delivered. Congrats. Mahalo and Aloha from the Big Isle "🤙"
Remember fly fishing grayling in Western Montana, catch and release.years ago...
they need to be grilled with aluminum foil, cover with slices of onion and fresh Lemons ... and couple chunks of butter on top. Seasoning with lawrys seasoning salt & pepper directly on fish .
challenge issued, challenge met! :D
Let’s see some Fort Peck Walleyes!
Walleye fishing catch and cook with Randy, Marcus, and Michael!
Congrats guys I plan on going for Grayling soon caught some big cutthroat this weekend. Oh and if you overcook the fish it can taste more fishy. Also depends one the seasoning.
What lakes are good for cutthroat and grayling, I live in Bozeman and want to do more fishing but don’t know where to go.
I'm a fly guy.
I like the fly rod and spinning, I’m in it for the meat most times.
More fishing
Wish could have your jobs,.. if not hunting should be fishing! Love the videos
Love to see more fishing vids, but refine the cooking segment fellas 😂
Like pretty much any outdoor vids your guys produce... hunting or fishing. Congrats on the Grayling, they are a neat fish. I've caught them in Alaska but never lower 48. To me they are similar to a Whitefish.
Better add some cous cous. Marcus is only allowed to cook hot pockets from now on.
Fly Rod all day up here in Northern BC for them Grayling bud!!!
Fishing vids are cool!! Guys gotta learn how to fillet fish. I mean since you guys sucked it up at bear hunting you gotta give us something lol. Keep up the good work!!!
Keep it up guys! I'm liking the all year uploads of good content.
P.S. did your paychecks clear yet?
Randy, How much would I have to pay to work for you? ;)
That's how I did 'em in Alaska years ago.
more fishing! Fly or spin whatever works
You guys get paid to run around Montana hunting and fishing....? Where did I go wrong with my life....
Grilling always taste better to me. The fat drains of and that is were the fishy taste is.
I would love to see some more fishing on the channel
I would like trade y’all some Oklahoma crappie for some that mountain scenery
😂
Lake A***s is beautiful I live real close
I flyfish and spin fish so keep making fishy content!
You need to smoke some... nice video
Great fishing!
Well this is constructive criticism - you guys are some of the worst fish cleaners and cookers.
Who gave him a knife
We’re just starting to leave winter behind in Colorado, so seeing some backcountry fly fishing is some good vicarious living right now.
