JUST BREAKS MY HEART TO GIVE UP! ATOUCHSTONE GONE! ($17 for 7 flowers from Houston Garden Center)

Houston Garden Center had quart sized pots for $1.98 for plants they called garden color. I paid $3 each for the Asian jasmine and the powdery blue salvia. It breaks my heart to cut down plants given to me because I love to collect plants from other people as they are a living reminder of my relationship with that person. From Sammie, I got the confederate rose which was my very first video. Every time I look at it in my yard or the countless other people to whom I have given cuttings, I think of Sammie and smile. This pink althea, Rose of Sharon, makes me remember my mother in law, who is deceased. Plants are a way of touching other people as are the gift of seeds. All the canna lilies you see in my yard came from one medicine bottle of seeds. In fact, I have given away a car trunk load of bulbs to Vannie, who gave or sold them to a client of hers. If you are a gardener, it is such a small thing to give a gift of joy to someone else. Also going shopping for plants with someone is a way of creating a memory that will last for years. My daughters and I seek out garden plants and share while building stronger bonds.

I know what you mean about the neighbors putting up tacky fencing.
Very glad we are getting ready to move out of the city in NTX and out to our land in E TX where we have no neighbors right up against us.

I saw a property about an hour from where I live that has 6 acres, and I seriously considered cashing in everything to make the move. What stopped me? The fact that I have finally made 65 which will freeze my property tax this year. I am also unsure that I could manage such a large property, but the idea was certainly tempting. When I moved here, 3 out of 4 of my neighbors were very nice elderly women. I have invested so much in my home to make it economical that I just can't afford starting over. Good luck with your move.
