It's absolutely unreal to me how easy you're making this. Your brain's teaching style lines up so perfectly with my learning style, I swear I learned more from this 13 minute video than I have from hours and hours of other instructor's videos.
I have just stumbled over this video and I am so excited about it. Thank you so much. I’m hoping this is a beginning of a series for jazz guitar tutorial.
The succinctness and economy of this lesson, combined with the amount of information therein, and imparted in a such a relaxed manner, is really impressive. Thank you very much Howard.
This is really to the point plus it lends itself to those of us who are dependent on our ear to sort it all out. Plus one talk and play at the same time. Love the not so twangy Telecaster. What a great tone. Thank you!
To be honest with you, I think I was a better player when I was in the garage and only knew about blues scales, and only knew about them because I figured out songs from the radio by ear. Then I was in a big band in college, and the music was so complicated, and I really had no idea what it was supposed to sound like. Whatever it was, it wasn't the kind of music I listened to. It was OK but now, 40 years later, I am going back to the basics. Eddie Van Halen and Angus Young.
This is increadible. I've surfed and self learned on many source but yours is the most easy and clear. Thanks for the most valuable video lesson. Love it.
That last example of showing the power of inversions really opened my mind to how powerful they are! Totally changes the tone even though it's the same sequence.
Вот только сейчас Ютубе вывел меня на Ваш ролик))) Большое спасибо за Труд!!! Такой короткий ролик, но в нем столько информации - сколько я на других платформах не видел!!! Подача шикарная!!!
This is amazing, thank you for this! Been working on triads lately and this just ties it all together. Have been trying to understand what I’m playing instead of just remembering shapes and it’s opened up a lot. But for this i feel like I might have to start off memorizing the shapes (some are easier than others because they are small tweaks of typical barre chords) thanks again!
This is the best guitar lesson I've ever seen on youtube. Thank you! Its just soo useful and easy to follow. I can also feel the love you have for teaching guitar. Lovely!!
Bro this is everything I needed and was looking for!! thank you so much for this perfect beginner jazz guitar lesson. Can’t wait to get these down and memorized, then I’ll check out the following lessons👍👍🙏🙏🙏🙏
Hey hombre, I hear a lot of those chords in tejano bands, now I know where they got them from, jazz! My compliments on your playing you're way up there on the ladder of talent.
Fantastic. I especially appreciate you pairing arpeggios with corresponding modes, a jazz concept that I have found (before now) difficult to appreciate. My favorite guitar sound is the Cmaj7 chord (I also have a favorite dog and a preferred beer brand) and it's a delight to learn new way to play it, though my pinkie isn't cooperating yet.
Ciao. Antonello I've always seen jazz as a difficult and broad genre. I studied modern guitar for three years and I love blues and country/rock. Obviously I faced jazz languages similar to blues, but both the methods and my last teacher didn't help me enhance my skills! Some have a "divine" gift of playing by ear repeating everything (Montgomery, Benson for example in jazz!) (Van Halen and Bolin in rock!) but most of us, myself first and foremost, have to study in order to understand! I want to follow your lessons because I like your teaching approach. I hope to improve in this magnificent musical language! HI. Antonello
Probably not that many people knows Prefab sprout. They play a lot of jazz progressions perhaps you should try on of their songs for a cover thanks for this lesson.
Hey man- I've been playing guitar for over 4 decades. I play by feel and don't really think at all about what I am doing (hard to explain) . I know all the chords and scales but I've never really put the names together if you know my meaning. This answers some questions. Thanks!
This is what I call teaching guitar in a musical way. Every minute of the lesson is so valuable, thanks!
This has to be, one of the most important, and best lessons, for beginners. Thank you so much.
Awesome stuff. Love the 7ths. You covered a lot of the important basics that make jazz fun. Thank you.
