Drove from RI for this show general admission show sat in the second row in front of Jerry.
If you have listened to enough JGB and Grateful Dead, you know when and what the X factor is. .....by the 20 minute mark this shit is melting like butter on a hot cast iron pan.
With all the problems facing the world. It is nice to have Jerry as a distraction. God Bless.
Most def
The best distraction!!!!!!!
Been my guiding light for these tough times.
@@grumpbutton more of the world should listen to this music but not from the point of view of it being a high or distraction.. that was what he did as a sacrifice to show us how to live in a productive creative loving way.. just my humble opinion
Amen to that! God bless. 😎
very NICE sound to this recording. Keiths piano & Doina un vocals medi 1977&78 to be the Year' in which it say, the 1970's were captured! What aJoy to listen to as I turn 68 yrs old on 6/4.
"I don't care where those other Rainbows led..." Ty to All of us; as the music plays on...🧸🌹
Bloody helly that Mission in the rain is awesome! ⚡️Too beautiful 😭
Found this jem my brother.
That's what love will make you do was so rockin'! 🙏🌈🥀

I was only 11 years omd....wish I was older..
me too
I've been coming back to this show a lot recently... great show! Love Jerr!
My favorite Jerry show hands down. A friend left this tape (yep I'm dating myself) at my house... I was supposed to meet up with him at Alpine shows but never made it. He left this with some stuff, and it had JGB...that's it. It took me almost 15 years to find the actual show. Until then we called it "The Most Powerful Jerry Tape"
Donna Drago the most powerful show!
I was there and yeah, it was awesome. Those are just about my favorite JGB songs all right there back to back and he was spot on that night. Woohoo!
Love your story. You are blessed.
That’s bold and your comment is why I chose this show to listen to tonight. Thank you
I’m from Waterbury CT. I was 5 in 77. But man do I wish is was there.
Great show. Great venue the palace in Waterbury is legendary
Welcome to the church of Jerry
Great concert. Love that Reuben and a killer Gomorrah following it!
What a show. Listening to these JGB shows on work mornings is really improving my overall state of mind. Thanks Brother!
I was there! It's so good to be back there again!
@@rajsuss I was still -9 in '77. The more I think about it, I wish I would have been born earlier, and dead by 2016. That would have been a nice window for my "short time to be there", and my "long, long, time to be gone" could have started before the orange menace : )
Hkyfu
The reggae groove on Catfish propels the band into complete synergy. Jerry's solo on That's What 💘 is spot on.
We used to refer this show as The Thanksgiving Massacre. So lucky to have a ticket and we danced ! Jerry at his best.
This show has some extra juice. That solo in TWLWMYD is just nuts. His playing gets so damn deft before the solo begins, you can just feel the freight train coming down the tracks.....
somehow, I don't think i've ever heard that song without B3...great interplay Keith's piano
Best mission in the rain ever!!!!
Paul Sullivan 11/11/1993 in Providence,RI is also definitely up there for that title
I'll have to check it out
This is a perfect example of Jerry at his finest! A masterpiece for sure !
Yay! Saving the world at this point nognu.
Thank you, thank you, thank you, Jerry!
Thanks for the fresh show,..... perfect for a Saturday AM. My friend if you only gnu the relevance of your channel.
Coincidence is a purpose we can not yet comprehend!
Just trying to spread some joy & kindness to this crazy world. Thanks for tuning in (~);}
@@nognuisagoodgnu I was there! It was such a great night in Waterbury! Thanks!
GOAT named Jerry
7 chakras releasing the updated versions of everything 😍 - thanks Gnu ! You're constant as the northern star
Awesome show!!!!!!!
Look at how happily all of the band members play “duty free” new Grateful Dead music
Donna is great and such a compliment on vocals. Underappreciated when in the band. Lovely, talented lady. And Jerry appreciated her.
I always thought Donna got a lot of shit she didn’t deserve. I always liked her and Keith ( especially before he zoned out). I think she worked out better in the JGB than the Dead but I m sure people will debate that!
I must respectfully disagree
@@robm5091 JGB stage would have been way quieter so she'd have heard herself way better.
As always, thank you Jerry!
This is an amazing AUD recording. Good mics right in the sweet spot. Worthy of an “Official” GarciaLive release. Someone send them a link!
This was my first JGB show and possibly the best of the many that followed !
Thank Gnu for uploading! 1977 and 1978 JGB have such a great sound and vibe
I'm a subscriber....really....really appreciate everything you do .
Looooove.. in the afternoon
Sharing IS caring and gnu is kind! My pet taper peeve is putting the recording lineage in the description please.
☮💚🎶😁😁😁🌹
Fun setlist
Thank You!!!!!!!!!
This was a week after I was born. Im not a person of regrets but kinda wish i was 24 at that point in time.
True story
I almost ran Jerry over with my car one day.
Living in San Rafael, CA..what year, can't really remember...1989?
I was driving on a tiny side street, Cijos between 3rd and 4th.
Decided to pull into a driveway, back out, and head off in the opposite direction.
I loved Jerry and the GD for many years leading up to this day.
I turned into the drive, crossing the sidewalk in the process, and threw it into reverse, to back out, turning the wheel to the right, to then be free to head off in the opposite direction.
Just before, I mean JUST before, touching the gas to begin backing out, I looked in my rear view to discover two pedestrians right behind my car.
I let them pass and began backing out.
Suddenly I realized, THAT'S JERRY AND A FRIEND, that I just almost backed into.
(They were heading for the tiny hotdogs shop, owned and run by a Chinese speaking family, on 4th street)
I thought, OMG, that's Jerry !!!!
I stopped my car. Opened the door, jumped out and called "Jerry !!!!!!", not knowing what I was going to say next.
Jerry looked over his shoulder, in response to my call ...
I was nuts. My mind flashed. What should I say?
Two options "Nam Myoho Renge Kyo", or something else , whatever
"Congratulations on the ice cream trial", I exclaimed (referencing the recent court victory regarding Cherry Garcia ice cream)
He modestly acknowledged me and kept walking.
fail, fail, fail, fail, on my part.
I could have saved his life.
