I was listening to "My Kantele" 14 years ago, hiking at the Polish mountains. Now I'm 28 and it still feels the same ~ epic!
I was listening to Tales from the thousand lakes 25 years ago preparing for my first trip to Northern Karelia
May Poland prosper in a most deserved good way.
I can't stop listening to this masterpiece.
Maria Fernanda Souza Siempre sera bueno leer a chicas que gusten de esta excelente banda, congrats.
Greetings from four years in the future! I can’t stop listening either. 😊
The keyboards on the Elegy album are some of the best I've ever heard
The Elegy album is one of the best I’ve ever heard
A wall of sound. A. Wall. of. Epic. Sound.
Seismic level of awesome.
Love when he talks in his native language ❤️
with amorphis. the eagle has landed in the black winter day. what a band. i wish i had 1000 lakes
This song is one of the most successful songs from them
old finnish bands are unique in a strange way .... same feeling when you're listening to sentenced, yearning or silentium,
I will definitely read the KALEVALA. Thanks AMORPHIS for waking my curiosity up.
I bought a copy awhile back.....bc of Amorphis.
It's a great trip
So, so good. These guys should be one of the biggest bands in the world.
Amorphis, Anathema, Paradise Lost forever!!! The best!!!
It's the greatest song to end a gig. Just a masterpiece. Esa. please do these more, you're a master.
Amorphis is absolutely IMHO the greatest metal band ever from Finland. My Kantele in this live version is proof. Very cool.
what a growlllllllllllllllll.......
his voice is so beautiful
I wish more metal singer would growl like this, like a mythic beast and not just scream like pansies
The way of Chi yeah he's a damn good metal singer
he is using the special microfone . so everyone can growl using this piece of tecknology. If you want to see someone growiling really with his real voice then check Septic flesh....
I am pretty sure the microphone has not the slightetst to do with it. :D
oh yeah, the microphone...authentic steampunk technology...
@@AfterDarknessiFeel the dude form sf is okey abit tunned but okey
Finland: cold weather, but very hot Metal! \m/
Just listened the whole production... all 13 albums... and of course ended it for this song. Like they want it to be.
Tää on käsittämätömän kova lopetusbiisi. Aivan jäätävä taas tänään Kapakanmäellä. Kiitos.
Kotia Lempäälään päästyä keikka jatkunut jo 3 tuntia....
Hyvää matkaa maailmalle. Ei nähdä Suomessa taas reiluun vuoteen.
IN FLAMES & AMORPHIS We Trust
This is my fav. Song of Amorphis!!!!
why dont the world now more about Amorphis!proud to be from Finland.
This song makes the scale of awesomeness explode!
GOOSEBUMPS!!!
wow.. this is beautiful.. it makes tears to my eyes...
I cannot like this enough >.< It's SO FUCKING EPIC!
FROM BOLIVIA🇧🇴
I still have my Digipack TFtheTL❤
Everytime i listen this versión my tears fall down.
It reminds me who i am. All my mistakes and i wonder myself how am i here still standing.❤
Better than the studio version!!! I love it!!!
So fucking beautiful.
WOW, what a great band full of class and talent!!! Hail the mighty Amorphis!!!
Truly they lie, they talk utter nonsense
Who say that music reckon that the kantele
Was fashioned by a god
Out of a great pike's shoulders
From a water-dog's hooked bones:
It was made from the grief
Its belly out of hard days
Its soundboard from endless woes
Its strings gathered from torments
And its pegs from other ills
Truly they lie, they talk utter nonsense
[x2]
So it will not play, will not rejoice at all
Music will not play to please
Give off the right sort of joy
For it was fashioned from cares
Moulded from sorrow.
Epic. Simply epic!
I told myself an hour ago: ''You should go sleep, but listen to one Amorphis video before going''. Haven't been able to stop since! :)
can't describe how epic this is... just listen..
AWESOME !!!!!
When I first heard this, back in 2004, I thought it was basically loud and uninteresting. Then I heard it another time and really liked the intro, then I put it on my car music and have probably listened to one version or another a thousand times.
The best time ever was live at the Divan du Monde in Paris last year. Esa playing his electric sitar-type thing was just phenomenal.
+Bruce Rouffian its a masterpiece.
+TheBlackfall234 Going to see them supporting Nightwish in Paris on the 25th. That will be a night to remember.
***** i saw them on wacken this year with their Tales from a Thousand Lakes Album tour
Pasi was and always will be the best and the ONLY Amorphis vocalist for me..
no word can describe how mouch i love his voice and growl!!!
Epic, such an under rated band!! (by some ppl)
Magnificent, no more words than that are needed
fantastic!
Love this band
What an amazing song, absolutely breathtaking!
Very good !!!
It's amazing what a mellow, relaxing and beautiful song the acoustic version of My Kantele is, contrasted with the absolute chaos of the electric version. Love this song 🤘
kiitos 1000 times, Amorphis!
Música mais do que perfeita.
Locura!!!
Tomi Joutsen wasn't the lead vocalist when 'Tales from a thousand lakes' came out. His vocals on this live version of 'My Kantele' show why he is the best (by far) front man Amorphis has ever had. Finnish metal is cool.
I dunno, IMHO both versions of the song are great...
you mean elegy right?
@@winchesterdean5939 thats where this song came from indeed, but Tomi wasnt on this album the leadsinger either.
Eclipse was the first album with this singer for those who dont know.
The first lead singer was the guy who plays rhythm guitar (he has the white Gibson Les Paul Guitar) he did the harsh vocals for the original song as well. It took me a while to get used to Pasi's clean vocals, but Tomi does such an amazing job, I'm so glad he's in the band.
Less than 100k views for this epic saga and millions for the new pop crap. What's this world come to, well, at least Amorphis came out of it.
+Randy Torero The world is FUCKED ,Randy, but these guys playing here in Ireland next month, looking forward to seeing them.
+Robert Martin No fuckin way! Should be a great show to watch the world burn to, kick ass man.
+Randy Torero im prefer pasi koskinen
Sometimes being the minority que is the best
Booooooo grandpa...just enjoy without bringing the negativity 👍
you got to be joking i listen this song most 15 years ago shiiit adrenalin!!!!!!amorphis!!!
I see amorphis live in december cant not wait for this aveeeeee \m/
My fav song of Amorphis!! You guys are amazing!!
EXTRAORDINÁRIO!
Heavenly
NIesamowite !!!
THAT OUTRO...
Amazing how this kinda music totally nails it, and I'm normally more of a cattle decap/fleshgod apocalypse/infant annihilator type of listener. Since the early days of the Karelian Isthmus this band has really evolved in so many brilliant ways. Absolutely superb stuff :)
I like his hair
che bomba
this band must headline every fu..ing festival all over the world
Its belly out of hard days...
soooo epic but also soo different one from each other but both versions excellent
They ARE!
Awesome...even better than the original...Sorry Pasi...:-)
i go crazy for this song.....
Me too!!!
Epic.
naaa after ..my kantele .. super day
Eargasm :x
They're coming in 2 days in Athens!!!Hell yeah!!!!
wow
asi prekvapia lebo ja milujem amorphis
@patomaiden It's probably a compressor mic in a case, but I do agree XD
...und da hab ich mein Kind hingehen lassen. Das wäre heute unvorstellbar. Sie wollte die gigantischen Finnen🎸🥁 sehen.
me too:)
!!!!!!! !!!!!!! !!!!!!!
supppppper
Their music is way too intelligent for an audience big enough to make 'em one of the biggest bands.
@lamar125 They ARE!
@Clairevoyante Oh, having EXACTLY the same feeling right now :D
love tomis hair dryer.
After 5:21 it is goin crazy man.
Newsflash, my friend: THEY ARE!
Ich mochte das Orignalvid.
@Clairevoyante haha that happens so often to me :D insomnium, agalloch and amorphis =]
Shit, this rocks!!! \m/
AMORPHIS FOR EVER!
that house of sleep remix at the end xD
+TheBlackfall234 I'd love to find a recording of it. I need it in my life.
+Shaheen Hemmatpour it's actually a cover by a finnish band named Eläkeläiset. They also renamed the song Vaivaistalossa. Look it up :)
Thank you soooo much! I'm going to play this on repeat all day. :D
@@tuomioharju thank you !
Was looking for this for a long time
let's keep em in metal world :)
They are big enought ;)!
@lamar125 Nah, too much pressure to change if they got too big.
I'm glad the masses don't have class ;)
Me quedo con el primer vocalista de amorphis incomparable la voz 😖
wait...Esa's not using a Les Paul shaped guitar?!?!
And show is going on ... fuck korona
@ReverseProgression Ahh gotcha. I know alot of people who scream / growl use compressors, so it was an (un)educated guess :P
Räyhh.
This cameras.....
;D
:-)
this is a man song!
I love this song but one thing about the lyrics intrigues me: "They (...) who say that music reckon that the kantele was fashioned by God", I don't really get what they are saying here. Is it maybe just broken English (like it should be "music reckonS"), can anyone help me out here? ;)
The lyrics - and the old poem they are based on - talk about the birth of kantele like it also gave birth to music itself. In this case, the subject of the verb "reckon" is "who" in the previous line. I don't know if this is bad English but it's allowed in Finnish grammar and this structure is directly translated from the original poem:
Jotka soittoa sanovat, (Who say that music)
Arvelevat kanteletta ([Who] Reckon that the kantele)
"Truly they lie, they talk utter nonsense" is that part
@@SCarpelan "[They] reckon that the Kantele was fashioned by a god..." etc. I get that. But I still don't understand the "Who say that music" part. What about music... - it feels like there's something missing there.
@@FeedThemCake The post is confusing since I didn't include the next line: "Was fashioned by a god."
So the meaning is that the creation of the first kantele was also the creation of music. If I recall correctly in the version in Kalevala it is Väinämöinen (the main hero and the first human to be created but who is not an actual god) who does this which suggests there are several interpretations as usual in folklore.
@@SCarpelan OK I think I understand, so it's saying that that both music and the Kantele were fashioned by a god. thanks for clarifying.
Классика, хуле...
