This very sleepy interview is only worth watching because Marc Lore is amazing. Interviewer seems to have done some homework, to his credit, but basically trying to tell Mr. Lore that his ideas are not great... same thing he has heard every time he earns another billion.

It's funny having watched MBAs at so many companies scratch their heads around the complexities of what is essentially a cyber storefront added to their brick and mortar operations. Amazon started and perfected the cyber storefront. MBAs don't seem to understand that you can't improve a paper clip and get lost in the weeds. Eventually "continuous improvement" intersects with "if it's not broken, don't fix it".
Walmart's greatest challenges are as basic as retail gets:
    1. Anticipate and meet consumer demands.
    2. Manage logistics to ensure there are no out-of-stocks (NONE).
    3. Don't make customers wait to pay you (all front-end operations).
    4. Compensate those who deliver measurable results well and LISTEN to what they tell you. Stop being elitists that worship an MBA while ignoring the input of ground engaged executors.
Walmart leaves billions $ on the table from lack luster daily operations of their brick & mortar stores. Do what you're good at and own that.
I don't work for Walmart or any retailer. I'm a customer that frequently leaves wondering how something so simple can be executed so poorly.

From the article "Three's Company" (medium.com/adventures-in-consumer-technology/threes-company-of-shopify-amazon-and-etsy-4f0388c47c91):
"juxtaposed against those two faces of ecommerce - who are nestled neatly in their respective moats - Walmart has largely failed in its multi-decade assault on Amazon. The retail giant originally came-up short due in large part to the classic Innovator's Dilemma... Once Amazon had reached scale, the cat-was-out-of-the-bag. At that point, we know an outsider cannot play offense or defense against an incumbent on the incumbent’s home turf - you cannot attack them half-heartedly or head-on like Walmart did Amazon..."

Though currently not in retail - The Home Depot - 1.5 yrs. Loss Prevention /2.5 yrs. Operations Manager / 1.5 yrs. Human Resources Manager. Lowe's - 9 yrs. Human Resources (ousted as salaried mangers were eliminated from the mix and profits tanked).
