received the Baron 3 days ago, and began testing for this review: Delivery-10/10: arrived next day via USPS priority mail, shave-sharp, and in pristine condition, along with a cool little velcro patch of the 704 gear logo. Feel - 9/10: very sturdy, and good weight. My only issue is that the handle is a bit square for my liking. This is completely subjective, but a slightly more rounded handle would improve the feel of this knife in my hand tremendously. Carry Comfort - 10/10: I wore this knife on my belt non-stop for the last 3 days, outside of sleep. The first day was an adjustment, but once I got the rotating clip slightly worn in, I barely realized I had it on my hip. Sheath - 9/10: Extremely tight upon first opening. Does wear down gradually, loosening itself up, but I actually opted to heat it up and loosen it, but I also installed a small tightening nut just above where the kydex joins back together near the hilt. This allows me to tighten or loosen to my liking, and at my discretion. Durability - 10/10: I have sent this knife through the wringer of every-day use. I have split wood with it, I have thrown it dozens of times, I have cut boxes, zip-ties, paper, tape, you name it. I have yet to lose any of my edge, and I have yet to feel so much as a slight bend of the edge. Under magnification, it is obvious that there is wear occurring, but one would expect a knife edge to wear far more quickly than this one has considering the amount of use I've given it. No burs, no chips, nothing. Throwability - 6/10: This score is based on weight and shape. I have thrown it dozens of times, and after the first few, I found the balance and was able to hit my targets reliably. The weight simply makes throwing this knife impractical outside of recreation or last resort. Coating - 10/10: The coating on this knife is more durable than that on any comparable knife I own. I usually have issues with flaking after sparking ferro rods for a couple days and not making sure to wipe off the residue of anything I cut, but the only coating that has been removed on this knife is the edge of the spine, where I have applied significant pressure to strike the ferro rods. (which took several strikes just to reveal any steel). I genuinely became a bit flustered trying to get a spark for the first time, because it took longer than I expected. Wood splitting - 7/10: you're not going to be splitting full logs with this thing, but medium-sized branches are a breeze with this knife and a baton. My wood supply is cut to a uniform 3 feet for anything larger than kindling, and I split my seasoned branches in no more than 4 baton strikes, and damp freshly dropped wood of comparable size (30 inches - 40 inches) in about 5 strikes on average. Feathering - 4/10: This might have been more of a user skill issue, but I could not get this knife to feather my wood for tinder very well. I had luck on cedar bark, but that's about it. Overall - 9/10: I will be filing down the edges of the handle, slightly, to make it more comfortable in my hand, but this knife is going in my outdoors kit as an every day tool.
Thank goodness you didn’t use D2. I live on the Gulf coast and have had 440C knives rust just from carrying them to work in my pocket everyday. Expect my order soon.
14c28n is a great steel for the price and application you mentioned, I hope OD green micarta is coming in the future lol but I'll have to grab one of these for sure. Very cool!
Good basic knife. Good steel, great basic design. Very functional knife the price too. Nothing too flashy, it just works. I’ll pick one up to carry in a range bag.
I would love to these knives go head to head with the 14c28n Mossy Oak brand knives that Amazon has for like $30 dollars right now. Would you guys do a video on that in the future.
I like them, maybe make a 6" clip point with same exact handle and you have a strong competitor and maybe replacement of the CS SRK. We need more dedicated and awesome companies like this with quality and that don't try and rip people off with outrageous prices. Keep up the great work. 🙏
Love the blade steel choice. Wished it didn't have red accents and it came in a 3.5" blade configuration (compact camp companion size). Hope they sell well.
Next…Stay with the same steel and make one at 7” overall with a 3” blade for EDC…Like cameras, the best knife is the one you have with you…BTW, fold over “taco” sheath that will take various attachment clips.
That rotating clip, if it is not completely locked down, will rotate in an overly physical altercation (a fall, fight, an assault, dropping out of a tree/off a cliff, etc.), and either rotate out of position for withdrawl by the owner, or snap off creating a dangerous item to land on, fall on, or fall on the wearer. I have used rotatable clips that have left me having to try to figure out where the handle for my blade was (i.e., searching for a contact point) so I could draw it in an emergency.
Looks good, and also might find a niche between the slew of high quality Magnacut blades and the high value mora knives. As for a "Tactical Knife" I would prefer something between a Glock Field (length and blade shape) knife and a Karambit (ring for easy deployment and control) in the usual color ways. Take a look at Montana Knife company's War Goat and make it longer with a spear point.
Would prefer DC53 and guard only below edge, not on the back. Still a solid working design though, I especially like the sheath. If you make another fixed blade make it a 9 inch blade survival beast (just my thing)
From an experienced survivalist a serrated edge on a knife that size is not very useful. It's just tacticool. Honestly, You can't really cut a tree branch unless it's very thin. It might be okay to make channels in thin branches for building shelters. I'd go with the other blade and carry a folding saw. Good sparks, Looks strong. I like your Videos and Updates.
I really like the knife plain edge at least to many teeth on the other one not enough plain edge for cutting that is just me though. Also I'm in the looks for a good combat knife only thing I have a issue with and why I won't buy one is the orange shiny washer behind the screws in the handle. Shiny is bad especially with all this new technology on the battlefield that can pick up shiny or colorful things. But love what you are doing the sheath mold is on point and slim can always find another mount if someone would like it tucked more in towards the body for concealment. Great job I definitely would like to get my hands on one one day price as well with the release I think is good value
@brr8888 no shit Sherlock, the micarta scales and not having 440A is an upgrade plus the Kydex sheath, if you have a Gerber Strongarm get it out and look at it and watch this video again look at the design of their knife and your Gerber strong arm same design that's why I say it's an upgrade because instead of having plastic and rubber coated handles and some weird dangly sheath

Awesome review, thanks for the detailed feedback.
I’m really happy to see this new line up! 14c28n is a great choice! I’ll be adding these to my collection! Thanks brother!
Thanks
Thank goodness you didn’t use D2. I live on the Gulf coast and have had 440C knives rust just from carrying them to work in my pocket everyday. Expect my order soon.
If you make one smaller for EDC with a 3.25 to 3.5 inch blade you will never be able to keep them in stock.
Yeah, we have a 4" blade limit law here in FL. I'd buy a 3.5" today if he had one. I"m sure he will in the future though.
14c28n is a great steel for the price and application you mentioned, I hope OD green micarta is coming in the future lol but I'll have to grab one of these for sure. Very cool!
Dude I could have used that tire!
Good choice on the steel.
Unimaginable. A knife that can cut materials. That's a game changer.
Just a hint, when using flint and steel try holding the steel still and pulling the flint. (Much easier to aim the spark into your tinder)
YES! Great choice of steel! So stoked for this!
Looks like an excellent competitor to the Gerber Strongarm! Gonna have to order one soon.
Awesome!!! Placing my order on pay day!!!
Simple but in a good way. It's a working knife at a price that I feel comfortable working it. Smart all the way around.
Love the channel...Just ordered the fde straight edge. Looking forward to putting it to work
Awesome
Good basic knife. Good steel, great basic design. Very functional knife the price too. Nothing too flashy, it just works. I’ll pick one up to carry in a range bag.
Right on! I'm glad you like it.
Going to get one for my collection in the future. I like the straight edge.
Nice thanks

Sure i will look into it
Very nice addition.
Gotta add that to my collection and support you since you support us with all your hard work.
Thanks brotha!
Thanks, I appreciate it.

Thanks for the feedback! We're always working on new things.

Sweet knives! I just ordered the serrated fde one.

Hell yea man! I’m definitely getting one after Christmas!
Right on!
Oh man. Here we go. Showing some great knives and quality products again.
Great looking knife with excellent materials at a great price. Love the sheath.
Thanks !
Nice! Love it! Personally would like tanto versions as well! But for the fixed blade launch , that's great! Thank you!
I like that glass breaker action!
Awesome congrats
I appreciate it
Looks like an awesome knife!! I’ll be ordering one for sure.
Thanks !
Would love to see your version of a tracker style knife
This looks great, but do you have something similar in the 5-6 inch range?
Just ordered, will give a review on this video once i've received it and tested it out
Looking forward to your review!
Hey Bro just grabbed two.. excited to try these out.
Awesome! Thanks
Awesome Knives!
Thanks!
Awesome knife!!
5 out of 5 stars for me!!!
Thanks

Nice looking knife
Very cool knife looks a lot like a Gerber
Nice! I'm in for an FDE Serrated!
Right on!
you've been holding out on us for 6 months!
any scout strap options coming soon? these knives look great.
This is an awesome deal! 🔪🎄🎅👍
A bit large for any of my applications but a very good looking knife with great materials. 👍🍻
Next time on the handle color suggestion... brown.

Chicago is here ✊🏾💪🏾✊🏾🫡🇺🇲
Congratulations

Where is DC53 better than 14c
@@GBall_Vision edge retention obviously

Tanto❤ full serrated
👏
Hell ya...
Nice options, following so I can see all your vids
Appreciate that !
When's the OD Green available? I see it in the pics on the website.

I have a a nice Gerber Ultimate survival knife. stainless steel. Only about $45
Is there going to be any 3.5" or less fixed blades coming out?
Working on new models but might be spring before we get them
Sweet..but now possibly bayonet..know you've thought about it.
Awww yeah
is the sheath ambi?
No sorry
Plate carrier attachment?
The first thing i noticed was those sharp edges on the handle. You should reassure people that the handle is comfortable, if it is.
Cool man grats.did i see a tanto in the intro or was that just wishful thinking? Lol
Finally!
30 bucks would be more reasonable for the launch
Scandi grind knives when?
😎👍
It's weird to me that you picked D2 for the folders and 14c28n for the fixed blade and not the other way around
14c folders coming soon
@704gear2 yass!!!! I live in a humid state so D2 is a no go for me!!!
Just received 3 of them. And I gave them all away way to big for me. If you make them 30-40% smaller I'll order another 3 but not for me.
Too heavy , handle needs to be half the thickness . The blade is great .
👍🇺🇸
Wow good job at making an upgrade of the Gerber strongarm
The Strongarm is well proven and made in the USA.
Where do you see micarta or 440a on either one Karen? 🤡
@brr8888 do you own a Gerber Strongarm? I have 2 ,did you make the 704 knives? Apparently you can't read my name's Tony
