I was born and raised in eastern NC and there was more to this story. Dominique was literally committed to NC State and decommitted at the last minute. University of Georgia boosters gave his family money, cars, jobs, etc so that he would play ball there. Obviously this was before NIL deals. If you can imagine all the fans of NC State were mad because of the last minute change. He was driving around Little Washington in a red corvette right as he made this college change. I really don’t think it was racism. This was just like Lebron’s decision to leave Cleveland for Miami when fans started burning his jersey. People in NC are crazy passionate about basketball especially back in this timeframe. I wish he would have just said that he made a business decision to attend Georgia as it would have changed the trajectory of his family instead of trying to paint racism as the reason why he left NC.

Exactly. That's why he said "I knew what it was, it was because the decision I made"....the decision to steal the tape😂😂😂😂
Watch the clip before so you can get the context 🤦🏽♂️ he chose the bulldogs over staying in NC and they tried to frame him while he was still in highschool ! He was all American he didn’t need to steal the tape the bulldogs had already paid him $3000 and were prepared to move his whole family to GA !
@@thehardtruth3027, The decision he made to leave the state of North Carolina to play college basketball.
@@thehardtruth3027 you're too slow to understand what's going on, watch the other clips.
Depend on what part u in really
Dominique Wilkins is looking good.
It's racist in Georgia too... He blaming the whole North Carolina on his racist little town. Crazy!!!
MJ grew up there too!
MJ's ancestors' town was burned down just like Tulsa, OK. They were forced to flee their homes.
Here is what we call an anointed man he had a praying mother grandmother somebody
Vlad doesn't believe in God but that has God written all over it
U can come back, they not trying that stuff out here anymore.
At what point did things change? Was it a particular event?
Liar
Black people started going upside they head
I'm from NC I grew up with Him and was there that Day and that didn't happen, I remember it very well ask me and I'll tell you what really happen. My hometown was the best place for a young Black person to grow up was ands still is. We never lived in fear of anyone not then or now! Facts North Carolina has more HBCU's Leaders that hold important jobs around the world. For reason I don't understand why he would say things that don't make sense or true. All Players that went to school in North Carolina were and are more success maybe that's the issue ? It's Called North Carolina Best state to do Business for Blacks and Whites. Atlanta is a Slum of what use to be we will always Lead the backward south states like GA,SC,ALA and MS etc..
Bro I believe he's not telling the truth on this. We all grew up in lil Washington and this is the first time hearing of this BS.
@@gourmetviking896 look at your situation You think we ever have been harassed or been misused

We’ve had some issues regarding race and discrimination in Washington such as the Joanne Little case and Thomas Stanley case. None of this went unaddressed, believe me if there had been some cross burning threat in Washington everybody would know and action would have been taken. He’s lying about this and if it was true he’d have my full support.
Larry elder disliked this video.
I think he’s from Washington NC that’s where my grandparents were from and yes it’s was very racist there. My grandparents left their in the 1930’s and they took us back there in the 70’s to show us where they came from and yes it was racist than my grandparents told us where we couldn’t go and could go
I would love to know what part of North Carolina he lived in sound like Lexington or some s*** like that lmao I'm from Winston-Salem I've been here 41 years and never have experienced that
Washington like 30 minutes from Greenville North Carolina I lived in Greenville my only time being in Washington I didn’t see one black person
When you’re 41 years pretty sure that town cleaned up because Dominique Wilkins got you by at least a good 25+ years I mean Dominique Wilkins is a man in his early to mid 60s so it is very possible everything was starting to clean up a little bit before you were bornBut what I hate is that people tell you racist stories back when they were younger as if that shit still happens today with a dozen for the most part I mean nobody’s gonna burn across in your backyard now especially in North Carolina they were open up a federal investigation and somebody’s going to jail you don’t want your town crawling with federal agents they take that stuff seriously it’s not just your run-of-the-mill crime.
@@VizzyGotEm23 it's actually alot of black people that live in Washington it's just no opportunities out there
@@VizzyGotEm23oh ok..yes I can see him leaving Washington..that's a backwards place
Little Washington is very small country town..very racist out that way and good Ol boy system
I'm from Washington n.c. always heard stories of him but never seen him. I'm way younger than him though...he put Lil Washington on the map tho...he doesn't speak on Washington much
I understand why he doesn't now. I always wondered about that growing up in the 1980s in that area. I'm honestly glad my mom moved us away when I was around 13 and that she taught me to act better than that.
They definitely want to Make America Great Again in NC.
Lol you know conservative are blk brown and white right? To attribute maga with racism shows your level of intelligence. Talk to people for once lol
lol that was Ronald Reagan’s campaign slogan back in 1981

Has it even been announced as to why they choose to burn 🔥 a cross?
Didn't happen
Took care, like paid him a heck of alot of money. I am from Rocky Mount N.C.
They definitely did..I’m from near rocky mount nc as well..old heads know dean smith wanted him badly…Phil ford was the man cnt believe he didn’t get buck williams in chapel hill
Too bad he had to move. Much worse than all the people being killed by the 13%😂
That’s HIS version…….remember that
So true
And it counts
What's yours???
Whiteville nc is where I am from the cops is big time raciest down here especially the Columbus county sherif office
Thats all over the south...they put down the white hoods for badges most police are former kkk members
So you was there got you 🙄
@@JohnAnderson-do6vb This is all public knowledge. It is all in newspapers. This was before NC had pro sports team so high school ball and college ball were similar to professional sports. Google searches will tell you everything that happened as the story made national media.
How is burning a cross in the man's yard not racist?
He's lying I'm from Washington and was there that DAY
@@clarencegibbs5206I'm from Blounts Creek and heard the same thing. In that area people are super serious when it comes to basketball teams, lol.

It's an act racist whites have done in this country for many years to instill fear (in non whites), but I'm sure u know that!
I mean what is wrong with racist people?
Ignorance!
Back in the 90 s we would fly 5-10 bricks out to nc and flip in couple of weeks. Very, very racist. “ if your black or brown, don’t let the sun go down” on signs. Very racist. Same place you would see paisas riding horses. Coke moved everything back then. College kids loved soft. Stockton,ca❤️. DIANA ACTUALLY TOOK BIRDS ON PLANE,IF U KNOW,U KNOW……… the past.
Highest number of sundown town are Ohio Indiana Illinois Kansas and Wisconsin
Yeah but difference is now if the sun does go down on you in that town the Glock or AR is coming out
California & the West Coast are no better. California has ranked number one in hate crimes in the United States the last 5 years according to the FBI 🤔
Born in Sanford North Carolina was really bad . Has changed now but still very country
