    Awww.
    From Canada
I still love Mr. Nadal and he will always be the best in my heart.
Never seen a more humble and respectful athlete. He will never blame anything or anyone for a loss. He will ALWAYS give the other players due credit.
And that's what sets him apart from others.
Never throw his racket or show any negative emotions.
Others should learn from this hero.

"Never seen a more humble and respectful athlete. He will never blame anything or anyone for a loss. He will ALWAYS give the other players due credit." literally he just said he played bad, and had some personal problems that affected him off the court. Every single time he makes injury excuses for 99% of his losses. If not, then he simply says he played bad. Is that how you give credit to your opponents? The delusion is strong with you i see 😂

McEnroe not so long ago would not have agreed with you. McEnroe was questioning the severity of the medical "excuses" (severe abdominal tears) that rafa was making after his loss to fritz at Indian wells and after dropping out of wimbledon. You may recall that the day after he dropped out of wimbledon (because of abdominal tears) he was photographed jet skiing with a male companion. When asked what he learned from his loss to fritz at Indian wells, he said that he learned nothing...that he was playing with an injury. Look, to watch rafa play for the most part is to watch magic, and I love him as a player. No doubt he is one of the goats. But as a man of humility who makes no excuses...give me a break.

His level is amazing, but he really faltered in the 4th set when he was up a break. It was the key that likely would have changed the result. Take nothing away from Tiafoe, he was great. Rafa for sure will be disappointed, but keep your head up. He is the GOAT of men's tennis for a reason. Novak still has opportunities to change that, but Nadal is the top of men in tennis. What a match and a well-deserved win by Tiafoe! Great serving and aggression with enough consistency was key to him winning this match. Coming back down 1-3 the way he did in the 4th set was very impressive. How often do you see Rafa lose a set from that position other than against somebody like a Djokovic? This match should put to bed all of the talk about Nadal being the supposed goat. Fathom this:
      - No Djokovic
      - No Zverev
      - No Medvedev
      - No Thiem
      - Easy draw
And the Spaniard still could not get it done. Djokovic never would have let an opportunity like this slip away. That is the difference between the two and why Novak is the better player. This is a great day for American tennis as well with somebody finally beating a big 3 member in a slam. Moreover, we will actually get a new slam winner for a change. Tennis has indeed won today.

Rafa's performance today and in this tournament should make us realize how amazing it was that he won the AO and FO after injuries and sporadic play. It all caught up with him today. All these current players have had full seasons playing tough matches. They are battle-hardened. Rafa has barely played since the Spring. Then there is the foot, the ribs, the abdominal, the nose (!), and, ultimately, his age. And, his wife spending time in the hospital. 15 years ago, Rafa had the legs of Alcaraz. No longer. Puts a lot more pressure on your shot-making. As much as I hate to say it, it may be time...

It’s not time yet as he can still bring a high level. But he will play less tournaments. He showed this year at the French he doesn’t need much prep and can still compete. So he will still be a threat there for sure. He probably needs a break. Some of the injuries this year were not typical also. Every time he loses its “time”. He hasn’t got a major injury atm and has found a solution for the foot.

He's 36, his body has been broken and worn down after 19 years playing hardcore tennis. We're lucky he's out there at all. Rafa could have gone ahead and retired so as not to hear or read all the fools commenting on him, like you, who seem not to have a clue at all to what this man's body has been through. Plus fact, it's been in the news, his wife is 8 months pregnant and has been in the hospital the past 2 weeks, I'm sure that weighs on his mind also. Sorry he wasn't fast enough for you today.

Rafa's movement has been getting worse, and against a big hitter like Big Foe, the fractions of a second that have been lost to age really start to show prominently. There are many big hitters on the tour now; Rafa will continue to struggle against them, and as the years roll on, his movement will deteriorate further. I think RG next year may be his last opportunity for a slam.
