During the day at my home QTH I am bombarded with unwanted interference from solar and home office installations nearby. My basic mag loop from 2e0ero really comes into it's own then as it's directionality and high Q eliminates most of this. Superb on receive and nearly as good on transmit it beats my vertical and efhw antennas when the local conditions are against me and my mighty 10 watts ! 73 M7BLC
Yes very good points for my viewers it receives magnetic energy and is directional and you can null out the noise. Glad it's working for you thanks for the awesome comment
As an alternative , I use. Mat40 with 12 meters of wire in my attic , the wire is straight for 10 meters then a 90 bend at the end . It gives me 10 up to 80 , but really shines on 20 . I use an icon 7300 - nice vid chap, I’m planning to buy one of these loops to compare to my wire :)
i really would like to be near and see how it works, how it performed .its my dream to have one but i dont have the $ because of the exchange rate with my CND dollard.Beautiful job you are building! 73/s Gervais ve2ckn
Howdy. Nice. Kevin Loguhin has a clip where he gets lower SWR with an oval driver loop. I got SWR = 1 using a gamma match on my 27 MHz CB loop. Regards.
Thanks for watching. Good information about the oval. This is an early model of the loop which has been refined over the years. I am testing the 80 meter version of this it’s beta hardware
This looks wonderful. When shipping (for instance to The Netherlands), is it a challenge to ensure that the loops arrive intact and as perfectly rounded as you build them? It would be sad is such a beautiful device would arrive dented...
5BASSIP Thanks for the comment very interesting check out my latest video on the mag loop antenna with electric tuning it’s just incredible watch this on my SDR how smoothly it tunes ruclips.net/video/K3n-XC25HL8/видео.html
I was confused for a moment when you talked about direction on the controller. Although originally expecting motorisation to control the tuning, you made me think it was controlling a rotator to orientate the loop.
Some people compare loops to a dipole. This is an excellent loop and is as good as any other. This is my only option with no garden. And I can get abroad on HF whenever I can hear somebody
Hi it’s quite possible to reach America on them. I have not because I am in a block of flats. They will do more power than 30 W. But you don’t want that much rf floating about. I have heard of people in the UK contact in Australia on a Mac loop antenna. Just takes the right conditions thanks for watching
@@digitalanaloguehamradio Thanks for reply. What power are they rated at power wise? Is there an official guide from maker. I would use it in open space outside.
I was told 30 initially but they can quite easily do 50. But you must never touch the capacitor whilst transmitting it is very dangerous. For that reason I think 30 is a good idea.
I can't remember if I was using it. This is not my normal setup. So when you have a magnetic loop antenna you are not supposed to use the built-in tuner thx I did not know that!
I will admit that this is nicely constructed but if you can't put more than 30 watts into it which suggests to me that it's intended for FT8 I would see no reason in owning one. I mean, if an antenna that small could be used to work the world on SSB every ham would own one. I certainly mean no disrespect when I make that statement either. I can tell by looking at it that with half-inch hard line and you are absolutely right about that homemade capacitor, that's a quality build. It just isn't for everyone. I personally won't use ft8 especially with a piece of software that lets me put my station into unattended automatic operation while I sit out by the swimming pool or on the beach. But I am curious as to what mode do you used for your European contacts. I'm certainly not dismissing the technology.
Very good comment. I have actually put much more power through it and it worked. But it is rated at 30 out of safety as all Mag loops can produce a nasty burn if touched when transmitting. I'm just reviewing it it and repeating what is provided in the documentation. Thanks for watching
@@morethan4mph :: I would assume FT8 because of its ability to operate an extremely low levels and in the noise. CW would have a hard time getting out of those conditions. In fact, side by side tests have shown that FT8 is superior to even CW that requires the human ear to listen to. For me, and that's just me, that takes away from the thrill of catching that DX station. But let's get back to the topic at hand. This loop antenna is ideal for FT8.
Or make your own and save money. Somebody has to make these things: why not you? For h.f. I've made dipoles for 60m, 20m and 17m, in the past a doublet, have two mag loops, verticals for portable, and lately a 4 element collinear for 2m, and years ago a 5 ele yagi for 2m.
These are not hard to make for yourself. I used a 3m length of 3mm by 25 mm bar formed into a stop sign shape Used an old military cap for tuning They work well
Good idea but obviously not meant for long term outdoor use if the capacitor is not protected from rain?
Well done Chris ... Looks Amazing ☘️
Thanks it works well

looks like a good antenna was it easy to setup and can it be connected to a standard tripod?

The loop looks great, especially for the desk. I guess it has a maximum diameter of 30 cm. Is that still going well for sending on the 40m band?
Have you mounted it horizontally? and how does it preform?
Hi I have mounted it horizontally as shown in the thumbnail. It works very well a bit better than my smaller mag loops

Adrian makes them 2E0ERO they are packaged perfectly for the job and will come in good condition and round lol
@@digitalanaloguehamradio wonderful. Thanks! I already have 4 loop antennas but now i am convinced i must have a fifth before long
Not a compromise antenna at all. Compared with a dipole it can outperform the dipole .

The controller has a direction switch. And a tune button. It also has a fine-tune button.thx

Great antenna. Unfortunately not for me since I do not have any HF rigs (yet). 73 de M6VMO (Frankie).
do you do muliband 50W 160 -6m version

Hello mate cani get your email to do promo code getting 40to 10 m with motor . How do you have that mounted tripod ??
2e0ukh@gmail.com. The Loop has a stand, which you can fit over a pole or tripod.
