I wish you the best and a speedy recovery after surgery. My oddest item was a huge heavy ceramic Chinese Tang horse. 21" tall x 26" long. I had it for local pickup only. A buyer kept messaging me for shipping. Willing to pay $200 for shipping. I gave in and shipped. She did pay through the nose for shipping. Box was huge and I way over packed to ensure it got there. She gave me a glowing review, so it did work out.
Wow, that was a hefty piece to ship! I’ve never packed anything that large! Kudos to you for taking it on and congrats on the glowing review! Thank you for your speedy recovery wishes! Much appreciated. Thank you so much!
Oddest thing sold, an African tiger fish skull. Got for in a trash box from a storage unit, sold for $135. Oddest thing up in my store RN? This weird desk organizer made of clay to look like a pier w/ seagulls on it. I only listed it to see if it would sell. Got it in a lot of other items from an online auction. Great shipping tips! I've used some of the techniques I've seen you use and I get compliments on my shipping. Best wishes for an easy surgery and recovery!
Thoughts and prayers for you before, during, and after your surgery . I think the oddest item I sold was a white ceramic toothbrush holder in the shape of a molar I also found 3 white ceramic molar shaped Succulent planters. I think perhaps someone in the dental field donated them. All of them sold within 1 week
Thank you as always for the great content and thoughtful video. I wish you the very best with your surgery, that it's a success, no complications and a speedy and full recovery. I know Mark will take care of you and take care of business while you are healing!
Thank you so much for your kind words. And yes, Mark will take great care of me. He’s a wonderful husband and partner, and I don’t know what I’d do without. Thank you so much!
Great informative video. You always put such effort in your videos. I watch them all and learn so much. Thank you Vicki and Mark for all you do. Be well.
Early 2019 I sold a nasty 1928 tin that had been in the barn - my husband is 3rd generation. His grandfather used it to hold miscellaneous bolts and screws. The top was roughly opened with worn down jagged edges. It was an “enameled” popcorn tin. My husband (as we were cleaning out clutter) threw it in the salvage bin. I pulled it saying I could sell it. He DOUBTED me - rolling his eyes (a huge “I’ll show you!” From me! LOL. It sold on National Popcorn day for something like $19. I did such a happy dance all around him that day! LOL!!
Love your story! Congrats to you! Thanks for sharing your story! When Mark doesn’t buy into something I do or purchase me, I too typically prove him wrong. Lol. Thank you!
Cancelling a sale puts a ding on our eBay account in our metrics. if it happens too many times it can result in higher selling fees. you can find the metrics on the seller dashboard on the bottom right side. I forget what it’s called. It’s called a transaction defect if you cancel it because there’s something wrong with it out of stock. Thanks for the pack & ship. I have shipped some crock pots that were challenging to ship because of the 3 parts and cord. The vintage ones are also really heavy.
Yes, they would be extremely heavy! I can’t even imagine trying to ship one of those. It took me back to a memory, though when I set my crockpot on the floorboard on the passenger side to come back home from a gathering just a short distance down the street to a neighbors house and it fell over in the car and the leftover stuffed cabbage rolls and sauce went everywhere on the carpet. Yikes. Thanks for taking me down memory lane. Lol.
Everything you said about packing supplies is true. I own a vintage/antique store and I've had to raise my commission percentage due to the rising cost of , it seems, everything! Best wishes for a successful surgery and speedy recovery. At least you'll have a handsome nurse to help you mend.
I so wish I could find a local source with good Bubble Wrap at a fair price. In Ohio, we did have one but not here. Thanks for sharing your experience and challenges with packing supplies.
Hello Vickie... I sure wish you well and best of luck with your surgery! Thank you so much for putting out such helpful content. I truly appreciate you and the time it takes to do it all. Yes, packing supplies don't come cheap. I'm lucky to have found a lot of free packing paper recently.. it was used but very clean. And, I just dread having to order bubble wrap because I think of how many items I have to sell to cover the cost. I also sell glassware so I know what it requires to safely wrap! Also, in the end I know I make less than minimum wage but I sell on ebay anyways because I just enjoy the whole process.
Thank you so much for your kind words of appreciation. And, yes, you know the Bubble troubles we are having these days. It’s so disappointing that suppliers raise the prices and lower the quality, but it’s happening with pretty much every product these days.
Probably the oddest thing I've still got for sale is a large, 9 pound slab of orthoceras fossils. There are lots of orthoceras fossils for sale on eBay, but none as large as mine.
I recently sold an Easter tree with miniature bunny, birds, egg ornaments! The tree was actually a large carrot with the branches as carrot greens and the base was a white picket fence, it sold for $30! I paid $2 at an estate sale.
I also have a air pillow machine. I just ordered some film to see how it works out. Had a hard time deciding which one to buy Also, an ex-family member sometimes saves me packing materials from the business he works at that puts in office furniture for businesses. They get loads and loads of packing material that gets thrown away might be a source for somebody else out there
😂 well I didn't buy it per se...I bought a shirt and noticed the hanger was Brooks Brothers...I had seen some resellers selling empty boxes with designer names and wondered if someone would buy the hanger! Someone did for $9 + shipping 😆 I was happy, but it took a big box!
It's surgery when it's you having it ...a procedure when it is someone else! Rest up, follow directions, and recover quickly. We will be thinking of you next week and looking forward to hearing good news from you afterwards.
You’re so correct in how you explained it “surgery versus procedure.” When I had my meniscus tear on my right knee repaired, my friend, who has had lots of surgeries, said oh that’s a piece of cake. Well, I was walking soon after, but it took nearly two months for all the bruising and swelling to go away. Lol. I’ll have to remember that one. Thank you so much for your kind words!
Hmm, the oddest thing? Depends on what you consider odd. I've sold a Persian, embroidered velvet yarmulke; a 1950s tourist book about Rome, a Masonic red fez hat from Canada; a set of 4 empty Watkins flavoring bottles, a coin bank that looked like a big gold bar, a 1st edition book of Ulysses S. Grant's memoirs, an empty Japanese Meiji candy tin, and a single keyboard key that said "Any."
That is quite a collection of unique items! I love every one of them! You’re quite the expert at sourcing! Thank you so much for sharing your unusual finds and sales!
Best wishes and prayers for your surgery. Love your sweater jewelry combo!
Thank you so much for your kind wishes!
Thanks for the video Vickie. Wishing you a speedy recovery!
Vickie, glad to see you back & will have you in my prayers on Wednesday for a successful surgery & quick recovery :) Janett

Your new hairstyle is really cute :)
I'm so awkward with that plastic wrap thing too! 😅. Enjoyed your video!
Glad you enjoyed it and thank you!

I guess I’m fortunate, my local recycle drop off center has barrels where folks can put their peanuts, bubble wrap and paper for others to take.
What a great idea! I wish we had that here!
Great video! Besides loss of money, why is it not good to have to cancel a sale?

@ I’ll bet that was a mess!
When you use padded envelopes how do you measure for shipping?
Measure the length and the width. We use pirate ship and they do not ask for the height or depth of the package. Hope that helps and thank you.

What was the value of the shade without the bear lamp?
I don’t know, but the shade is what made the lamp unique. Because you could see the little bear scene through the shade.
@AvanteAvenue Exactly. I would have ditched the base.
Probably the oddest thing I've still got for sale is a large, 9 pound slab of orthoceras fossils. There are lots of orthoceras fossils for sale on eBay, but none as large as mine.
Sound beautiful! Wishing you a sale soon! Thanks for sharing!

A very pretty necklace.
Thanks so much!

That sounds so cute and unique! Congrats on your sale!
I sold a Perrier water bottle encased in Lucite for $120. The buyer collected them, and this was the one he needed to finish his collection.
I also have a air pillow machine. I just ordered some film to see how it works out. Had a hard time deciding which one to buy

Box in box for shade.
Not necessary for this one. It was a hard plastic shade.
Great content as always. Congratulations on reaching 10K Subscribers 👍🏻🍾🙌🏻🫶🏻
